Sharm Grand Plaza Resort

We visited at the turn of July and August 2025; it was absolutely wonderful and scorching hot—though manageable at 37–38 degrees. The staff were simply amazing—bartenders Muhamed and Ahmed, Michael in the main restaurant, and the photographer Tokio and his colleague were all truly fantastic people! We were thoroughly impressed by the quality, cleanliness, and service. The food was top-notch, especially the seafood, chicken, and the like. The foam beach party at the pool was a blast. The managers were top-tier! We wholeheartedly recommend it, of course!

I would like to share my honest experience with this hotel, as unfortunately it did not meet our expectations of a 5-star property — even considering that it is in Egypt.

The hotel is very worn and poorly maintained, with the exception of the outdoor areas, which are actually pleasant, with good greenery and an attractive overall exterior. The pools were clean, and there were enough sunbeds for everyone, mainly because the hotel was not particularly busy during our stay. The beach was also one of the positive aspects — it has fine sand and is pleasant.

Unfortunately, there were many issues with the rest of our experience.

The room: Upon arrival, we were initially accommodated in a room that did not correspond to what we had booked and paid for. There was no terrace, the room was poorly maintained and not particularly clean, the bathroom was dirty, the air conditioning was extremely noisy, and instead of one double bed, there were two separate single beds. The room was also located quite far away.

We were initially asked to pay extra in order to change the room, despite the fact that the original room did not meet the conditions of our booking. In the end, we did not have to pay the additional amount, and we were moved to another room, which was considerably better and acceptable. However, the new room did not have a sea view, which was also not what we had originally expected from our booking.

Another issue was that our vouchers were linked to another reservation made for my family, but this was apparently not taken into consideration when we were assigned the rooms. This resulted in us being accommodated separately instead of having the arrangements reflected as they were booked together.

Food: The food was another major disappointment. There is very little variety, especially at dinner, where the same dishes are repeated day after day. Apart from a few standard dishes, the only pasta option available every evening was pasta with tomato sauce. There was no Bolognese or any other meaningful variety.

The snack options between meals were also very limited. They were available only at one location near the first bar and consisted almost entirely of fried food. Unfortunately, even the pancakes we tried tasted sour, which made us question their freshness.

One positive point is that the main restaurant operates with long and convenient meal hours, so there is no need to rush to eat.

Pools and entertainment: The pools themselves were clean and there were enough sunbeds for everyone. However, the pool water was extremely heavily chlorinated, to the point that it was unpleasant.

The overall atmosphere was rather disappointing. The staff generally seemed very slow and there was almost no entertainment around the pool. The only regular activity we noticed was dancing once a day, around 10:30, and it was entirely in Italian.

The music situation was also quite strange. It stopped at around 12:30 and then again at 16:30, and throughout the day we kept hearing essentially the same four songs repeated over and over.

Beach: The beach was one of the better aspects of the hotel. It has fine sand and is pleasant, although overall it did not compensate for the other issues we experienced.

Overall, there are certainly some positive aspects — the outdoor areas, greenery, clean pools, available sunbeds and sandy beach. However, these positives do not compensate for the condition of the rooms and bathrooms, lack of maintenance, limited food variety, excessive chlorine in the pool and the generally low level of entertainment and service.

In our experience, this hotel does not provide the standard we would expect from a 5-star property. We have stayed in Egypt before and had much better experiences, so I would not consider the issues we encountered simply a matter of different expectations due to the destination.

I am sharing this review because I believe it is important for future guests to know what to expect before booking.
