After approximately 30 hours of travelling, we arrived at Southern Palms Beach Resort in Kenya and were given rooms 486, 487 and 488. In our opinion, these rooms did not correspond to the standard of accommodation we had booked and paid for, so we returned the key cards.
Instead of being able to shower, eat and sleep, we spent hours sitting in the hotel lobby in the middle of the night, exhausted, hungry and completely worn out.
We contacted MSG Touristic repeatedly by email, website form and WhatsApp. Our complaint was received, but for a long time we were still left without a proper solution.
We were not asking for special treatment or a free upgrade. We simply expected to receive the accommodation we had paid for.
A terrible way to begin a family holiday.
After approximately 30 hours of travel, my family and I arrived at Southern Palms Beach Resort expecting the accommodation we had booked and paid for.
Instead, we were given rooms 486, 487 and 488, which in our opinion were completely inconsistent with the standard presented and sold to us. We immediately returned the key cards and refused to stay there.
What happened next was shocking.
We were left sitting in the lobby in the middle of the night, exhausted, hungry, sweaty, sleep-deprived and unable to shower or rest. No proper alternative was provided for hours.
We repeatedly asked for help. We contacted reception, management, our tour operator and the local representative. We sent emails, WhatsApp messages and formal complaints. Despite all of this, we were left waiting while the first hours of our paid holiday were simply disappearing.
We did not ask for luxury, special treatment or a free upgrade.
We asked for exactly what we had paid for.
A hotel that accepts guests’ money has a responsibility to provide accommodation consistent with the booking. Leaving an exhausted family in a lobby after such a long international journey because acceptable rooms have not been provided is, in my opinion, completely unacceptable.
What makes this experience even worse is the lack of urgency and empathy shown while we were clearly exhausted and distressed.
I have documented everything: room numbers, photographs, messages, emails, complaint confirmations and the hours we spent waiting in the lobby.
This was supposed to be the beginning of our family holiday in Kenya. Instead, it became a night of stress, exhaustion and frustration.
I would never expect this level of service from a resort presented and sold at this standard.
At this moment, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone who expects reliable accommodation, professional handling of problems and basic respect for paying guests.
One star only because Google does not allow zero.
I will update this review if and when the hotel finally resolves the situation appropriately.
This was my third time staying at Southern Palms Beach Resort, and this visit felt particularly special because I came for a girls’ trip a little time to relax, reconnect, laugh and create beautiful memories together. 🌴🥂✨ From the moment we arrived, I was reminded why I keep coming back.
The ambience is beautiful, the setting is elegant, and there’s such a warm, relaxed coastal feel throughout the property. The staff deserve a special mention. They were consistently warm, attentive and genuinely welcoming, making us feel looked after without ever being intrusive.
That kind of hospitality makes such a difference. There was also an Indian wedding happening during our stay, which brought a lovely energy to the resort. What impressed me was how seamlessly everything was managed. Despite the celebrations, our experience, comfort and service were never compromised everything continued beautifully and professionally.
