Very nice experience
Everything was perfect, the service and the staff also were so nice, especially Youssef, reda and doha, hope to see them next year!
Gret experience
I had a great stay at the hotel, and the service was excellent throughout my visit. I especially appreciated the service at the swimming pool bar. Youssef, Reda, and Doha were excellent—very cooperative, helpful, welcoming, and always happy to assist. Their friendly attitude really made the experience more enjoyable. Thank you to the whole team for the great hospitality!

Our First stay at Barcelo
The Palmariea is a quiet oasis only 15 minutes away from the bustle of the medina. The hotel grounds and facilities are splendid and well maintained. Food and drink are of a high standard with the staff going the extra mile to make your stay even more enjoyable. (Khadija at the buffet restaurant),kabira,Laila in the buffet restaurant are so friendly and helpful as is Mariam in the bar. There are three speciality restaurants beside the buffet restaurant but the standard All Inclusive package does not include the specialty dining For that you have to pay extra but you do get a 15% discount. If you want to include the speciality dining in your experience opt for the All Inclusive+. The bar area outside is spacious and comfortable but, there is no evening entertainment, or, there wasn't on the first 4 nights of our stay. I am told, today, Tuesday, there is Moroccan music and dancing by the bar.
Birthday surprise
The service has been brilliant from the restaurant to the hotel to the spa it has been amazing. Beautiful staff with wonderful service.

Issues with catering
We booked 4 nights b&b. We deliberately chose this option instead of all-inclusive as the hotel has 3 à la carte restaurants as well as a buffet - and we’re not fans of buffets but hoped this would leave enough options. One of our group has a gluten allergy. Note this is not an uncommon allergy - about 6% globally - and most hotels, especially those badging themselves as “5 Star”, accommodate without issue. Nevertheless as a courtesy, my wife emailed the hotel 2 weeks before we travelled to inform them (she made the booking). They acknowledged 8 days before our arrival to confirm they cater for a gluten free diet. Obviously we have kept the exchange should anyone doubt our experience.
The hotel absolutely does not cater for those with a gluten allergy - it is simply not the case.
They appeared to have bought in some very limited options for breakfast and re-used them for dinner. By the third breakfast , one of the breads had mould on it. The hotel told us there was nothing available for breakfast on the last morning. We paid for b&b which was severely limited for one of our group. At dinner, there were no gluten free pasta or pizza options in the Italian restaurant.
Not 5 star - not even close
We decided to raise a complaint at breakfast 3 - the mouldy bread being the tipping point - they offered us a free meal at the Italian restaurant- and said they had sourced some gluten-free pasta. But, per above, re-itererated there was nothing available for breakfast.
To add insult to injury, when offering the free meal the hotel wanted us to sign a pre-prepared “gag order” - ie not to post a negative review. This was apparently so they can retain their 5-star rating. We refused. The hotel does not provide a 5-star service with regards catering and potential guests with a food allergy need to know so they can make an informed choice.
In fairness, the hotel did honour the free meal as a good will gesture for the ruined breakfasts. The meal was good - Azzouz, our waiter, was very friendly. Additionally, they managed to source some fresh gluten free bread and pastries for our final breakfast - which we appreciated.
Whilst the hotel did eventually resolve the issue, it took a complaint and a refusal to sign the gag order to make any progress.
