Riu Tikida Beach

Stayed here for 2 weeks with my bestie Louise Adams , we arrived around midday so were not surprised our room was not ready , we went off for lunch in the restaurant opposite the beach which looked very busy . We returned to reception & were told to come back at 2pm so we’re went for a wander . The hotel is small , very nicely furnished inside & has a lovely outside seating area . The pool area is also small & was completely full not a Sunbed free. We went to have a look at the beach , it’s very sandy & long , perfect for a walk , but extremely busy with locals & their children . The hotel has a small roped off area with Sunbeds & umbrellas, no privacy which is what we are used to . We eventually got our room at 2.30pm & were taken to Room 25 , what a hovel , under no circumstances should this room be sold at full price, as the door opened it smelt awful , I’m not sure of what !! The fittings in the room are old & broken , the bin was full of ants , bearing in mind it had just been “cleaned” & the icing on the cake is the view from the balcony of the next door hotel’s air conditioning unit , along with the sound of it !!! Back to reception we went , under no circumstances were we prepared to stay in this room , they were very curt & not helpful , “that’s the room type you paid for “ , the room was not fit for purpose & should not be sold at full price , it should be discounted , it was awful . Eventually they got Tom the TUI rep who did his best to get it sorted , we had to spend our first night in this room but were moved the next morning to room 104 , with a tree/pool view & much cleaner . Our first week the weather was not great , grey skies all day with the occasional glimpse of sunshine through the clouds, still warm though. The 2nd week we had some sunny days thankfully . Every morning we would go for a walk along the beach when it was “quieter” , we are beach lovers so like to relax on the beach all day , it is so busy with locals it’s crazy , not what we expected at all . Many of the locals sleep on the beach & we saw women doing their washing in the ocean , it was obviously where they bathe too , & do their business, we saw poo floating in the sea , we obviously didn’t venture into the sea , but many did !! So much rubbish too , so sad to see a beautiful beach so disrespected. If you want a Sunbed around the pool you have to get up early , we’d go for our walk around 7am & all the beds were “taken” . Food & service in the restaurants are good , we always tip as I worked in hotels for 30 years so know how little these guys get paid & how much they rely on their tips . We were mainly looked after by Majid, Taoufik & Hdan in the bar , lovely guys who work very hard. We went to The Culinarium once , wasn’t the best , preferred the food in the buffet restaurant. The entertainment isn’t up to much , definitely not on par with other Rui hotels we’ve stayed in. We went on a couple of excursions, we went to the Folklore dinner , it was a long night but very enjoyable, the food ok , drinks very expensive so take lots of cash , the show at the end of the night was very enjoyable . We also went on the cable car up to the castle & to the souk in Agadir, we enjoyed that. We also did the 4x4 trip to the Atlas Mountains , stopping for a traditional Berber breakfast & to see how the argan oil is extracted from the nut, we saw the goats in the trees, this is literally you stop in a lay-by , see the goats , give them a tip & go, we passed through & stopped at paradise valley , awful , tired, dinghy, dirty nappies & rubbish on the floor & due to the drought hardly any water , not paradise at all !! Finally we stopped for a very nice lunch where they also had a swimming pool which we relaxed around for a couple of hours so wear your swimming stuff , they give you towels . Our final excursion was to Crocoparc , was a lovely morning well worth the visit . So overall we made the most of our holiday , sadly Agadir & the extremely busy beach, not great weather is not for us so we wouldn’t return .

Just got back from a 10 night stay in the Rui Tikida beach. Checking in was seamless, helpful and friendly, you have towel cards no deposit required a safe in your room free of charge, fridge in your room was replenished daily (non alcoholic beverages).

Hotel is great, food and drinks also great, location is directly right by the beach. Overall, the staff were very helpful and friendly where they will bring drinks to where you are sitting.

Only gave it 2* on the experience I had with the reception desk on their checking out process, I made an enquiry on Saturday about checking out on Wednesday if there was a facility to have a shower in the afternoon as my flight was at 8pm and probably getting picked up by 5pm- the young lady answered me only on Monday and Tuesday and if I would like to book? I said I’m checking out on Wednesday- she checked on the computer and replied nothing available. I asked how much notice do you need for your guests to give you to have a shower? The young lady asked another colleague and said for me to come back the day before and we’ll see what we can do. (This reply didn’t fill me with confidence). Ok thank you for your help. I then went to see the TUI rep who was more helpful and knowledgeable than the receptionist, he mentioned that there was a gym on the grounds of the hotel where you can use between 6am to 9pm to use the shower in there. Great thanks, all I needed to know. The day before departure I went to the receptionist desk again to see what they could do. Spoke to a gentleman and he also replied nothing available and that he’s traveled the world and every hotel is 12pm checkout time and it’s not obligatory for us to supply a shower room for our guests- but if I wanted to pay they can guarantee me a room. I said I don’t need a room just a shower. He seemed reluctant to inform me that I was able to use the shower at the gym and try to encourage me to pay. I thanked him for his help and walked away. Speaking to other guests and they had a similar experience and paid for a room, late checkout for about £75 for 4 hours. If you have an early flight- great 👍🏼 however if you have a later flight bear this in mind.
