Sofitel Agadir Royal Bay Resort

Our first time in Morocco with a visit to Agadir. Excellent location with direct access to beach. (Strangely, have own Private beach within hotel grounds). Located near the end of an excellent long beach (approx 7 Kilometers in length) away from Agadir town itself which made for an excellent stroll along the Corniche (promenade) Relaxed calm environment throughout our stay, Just what we wanted, Our Deluxe Room had pool and ocean views and was cleaned daily to a high quality. 2 Downsides - The bird droppings found on our balcony every morning and room refrigerator that got extemely hot inside its cupboard (It seems these are common problems found in hotels throughout the world) Surely there must be simple ways to resolve these issues ?. To be fair we took little notice of amenities available, being there to totally relax. But must say that the pool was huge and loungers /seating/pool beds were in abudance and of very good quality. Nightly entertainment was to be found mainly in the huge atrium with light dances and various musical performances to see. Anywhere we go service is main essential of a holiday and here we can only say that everyone we met at the hotel was extemely courteous and helpful, with special mention to Hiba and Yassine at meal times being informative and friendly as were Soofan and Rachid around the pool area. As to value for money this is always a contentious issue but we believe that you get what you pay for. However a common trend throughout hotels (and bars) worlwide, is the extortionist prices charged for SOFT drinks. The small issues preventing a maximum rating ! All in all we had a very nice relaxed 10 days and managed to see some of the surrounding attractions. Would definitely recommend to interested parties

Located in the quieter end of the resort, just a stones throw from the beach. The whole hotel is spotlessly clean, but being over 20 years old showing some signs of wear in places, especially the pool floor. It is quiet at present in the hotel so there are plently of sun beds of all shapes and sizes available. The atmosphere is very chilled and it is very easy to switch off. There is plently of selection for breakfast and everything we have had has been of high quality, fresh and tasty. We eat at the beach restaurant on the 1st day, I had a steak which wasn't great, very fatty and little meat, my wife had a wrap which was good, chips were on the cold side. Soul restuarant is superb, the taster menu was exceptional. The room is well appointed and very clean. The maid does a great job but has forgotten towels and water on 2 separare occassions, reception sorted this immediately. My bed is extremely comfortable but that said it may not suit everyone as there is a big dip in the mattress so it probably needs replacing. From reading previous reviews people have mentioned a bad smell, in my opinion this doesn't come from the hotel it comes from the Industrial fish processing plant down the coast as it can be smelt everywhere at times, there are diffusers in the corridors that pump out a delightful aroma. Food and especially alcohol are expensive in the hotel but that is to be expected. Entertainment available every night around 9pm. Electic bikes available which are a bit of craic. Staff are brilliant, if you want a relaxing break my the sea this is a great place to stay.
