Island Inn

Fantastic little hotel. Staff are wonderful. Food great and we found the location perfect.
This is my 13th visit to the island but 1st time at Island Inn, it will not be our last. My partner celebrated his 50th birthday and the hotel had a happy birthday table laid out at breakfast and decorated the bed and left a card. Lovely touch. Thank you for a brilliant holiday

We stayed for two weeks. We liked our room, big room with a large bathroom. The combination of the air conditioning and a fan kept it cool. The cleaning was OK, but constantly chasing coffee, shower gel etc.

The pool was small and usually there were enough sunbeds, but very little shade. In the two weeks we were there, the pool area by our room was never swept. Was covered in fallen seeds from the trees.

The food was on the whole tasty and plentiful, with the waiting service very good. The quality of drinks at the bar was excellent, proper bar men who knew how to make cocktails.

On the whole the staff were polite and friendly. The exception being a very grumpy waitress and all the reception staff, other than Sharon and the young trainees. We felt like an inconvenience if we asked for anything. They would talk to us without any eye contact and were made to feel like we were talking to a headmistress! Not in the least bit welcoming!

We had an enjoyable time with all the other guests, as the hotel is so small you do find there is a lot of interaction. We very much liked the sister hotel Mango Bay, where you had immediate access to the beach. Otherwise you had to pay $20 per day, per person to use the sunbeds near Island inn beaches.

Sadly the hotel isn’t situated as to allow a nice stroll in the evening, but it’s great in other ways. Easily access to the Garrison area. We visited George Washington House, saw the race horses swimming in the morning. Had a fantastic afternoon at the races. The local buses were great fun, only costing $3.50 (Barbadian) a single trip. The local people were so helpful.

All in all, albeit some staff attitudes and cleanliness issues the hotel is OK. Though I can’t see why people come year after year to this hotel.

We went for our anniversary and chose the hotel as knew it was only small, and so glad we did. On arrival we were welcomed with rum punches, very nice and taken to our room, a lovely suite near the pool. The pool is only small but absolutely fine for a nice cool down. The meals were lovely, a nice combination of buffet and a la carte, portions were perfect not out facing. There was entertainment some nights, we thoroughly enjoyed making new friends, again because the hotel is small, you tend to get chatting to other guests which we enjoyed. The location is perfect with pebbles beach just round the corner, we were able to see the race horses being exercised swimming in the bay each morning. We loved seeing the different birds, banana quits, humming birds,finches, and king birds all wonderful. There are monkeys around the hotel which were very entertaining to watch on a daily basis but not to be encouraged.
