Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
The hotel is conveniently located where itβs easy to travel to the rest of the island, and Magazine Beach was calm, clean and beautiful. Service was generally very good at the restaurants and bars, and at the Kids Club, Shanique and Jovanna were especially accommodating, friendly and informative.
Generally a lovely hotel and good area. Our room was perfect with sea view and Diamond club butler service a fantastic add on. Our Butlers were amazing, couldnβt do enough for us.
Nice mix of bars and particularly like the coffee/ice cream shop open all day and evening. A quiet bar for the evening would be good though.
Beach beautiful but have to pick your way into the sea through paths in the coral.
Few downsides which feel should mentionβ¦.
Diamond club pool/bar (and by default the one right next to it) was chaotic and very loud with music and just general people for few days due to a large party monopolising the area. Anyone that wanted quiet and relaxation simply had to find somewhere else further on the beach which was also away from the amenities. Large groups should be managed better and pool rules enforced throughout rather than just if someone complains.
Food was average. Some nights were better than others with more choices but meat usually of low quality compared to what weβre used to in the UK.
Lots of insects so remember mosquito spray. I was bitten 100+ times but my husband survived. Also couldnβt use balcony much for this reason.
Booked direct through Marriott. This property provides zero benefits for its Elite members. No upgrade whatsoever as a Lifetime Titanium. Not allowed to check-in prior to 3PM even though it's very obvious they are not full (and it is low season). On top of that, didn't receive my welcome amenity as a Lifetime Titanium. Like why is this property even with Marriott?
They also have this program where you can select your room in advanced for XX amount of dollars. Well guess what? They canceled my confirmed room allocation literally when I checked-in. Like why bother with this program then.
The only saving grace about this property when it comes to service is that all their restaurant and HK staffs are top notch, 5 star quality service.
But front desk? Be prepared to hear "no" all the time.
My family of eight recently stayed at Royalton Grenada to celebrate three very special occasionsβmy birthday, my sisterβs birthday, and my nieceβs birthday. We chose Royalton because of its reputation as a luxury all-inclusive resort. Unfortunately, our experience did not reflect that standard.
I want to begin by recognizing the staff, who were the highlight of our stay. The bartenders were outstandingβfriendly, welcoming, and consistently provided excellent service. The food servers were also kind despite the resortβs operational issues.
The most significant disappointment was the food shortages. The buffet had very limited selections, and items were often not replenished once they ran out. If you didnβt arrive early, many options were already gone. There was no real variety they even ran out of eggs. Overall, the food quality and availability were below what you would expect from a resort of this level. There were issues with the speciality and beach restaurants not having items listed on their menus every day.
Housekeeping was also inconsistent. On one occasion our room was not serviced at allβno made bed and no clean towels. Even after requesting towels, they did not arrive until a second call. The following day, the bed was made but pillowcases were missing and again no towels were provided.
We also experienced repeated electrical issues with the lights going out in our room. While eventually resolved, it added to the frustration of the stay.
Despite informing the resort in advance that we were celebrating three birthdays, nothing was prepared. I had to follow up multiple times at the front desk, which was disappointing for a resort that promotes special occasion experiences.
We requested two rooms with double beds and was told that there were no rooms available even after the wedding party of 80 people left the resort the day after we arrived. I stayed at this resort for 7 nights and was told nothing was available we gave up after asking the front desk a few times.
We also encountered a front desk error after a room change for my mom where our information was not properly updated in the system, leading to confusion during a spa visit on my birthday and check out. When I went to the front desk to check out on my last day, I was told that I already checked out because of this issue of not changing names on our rooms.
The resort has a lot of stairs, which can be difficult for someone if they have any challenges of getting around. We did use the buggy at times but one day we waited over an hour for buggy to pick up my mother at one of the resort restaurants.
In addition, there were limited daytime activities and the evening entertainment ended early, leaving very little to do on the property.
Overall, while the staff were genuinely kind and professional, the resortβs lack of consistency, poor food service, and operational issues significantly impacted our stay.
Unfortunately, we left disappointed. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Royalton Grenada. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and makes the necessary improvements so future guests receive the quality, service, and hospitality the Royalton brand promises.
Overall, I had a really enjoyable stay at Royalton Grenada. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, impeccably maintained, and create a relaxing atmosphere from the moment you arrive. The resort is in a great location, and the majority of the staff were genuinely warm, friendly, and welcoming throughout our stay.
One area where I believe the resort could significantly improve is its nightlife. After a certain time in the evening, the resort becomes very quiet, and there is little for adults to do. Adding a nightclub, sports bar, or another late-night entertainment venue would take the guest experience to the next level. Not everyone is ready to call it a night after dinner, and having more options for evening entertainment would make the resort feel much more lively and enjoyable after dark.
Unfortunately, one interaction stood out for all the wrong reasons. Shayln displayed one of the worst attitudes Iβve encountered in hospitality. Before the wedding ceremony, there was no clear guidance on where the wedding party should wait, so everyone gathered in the wedding office because it was air-conditioned. The bride and bridal party had already spent a considerable amount of time waiting in the smoldering heat, and with the ceremony less than 30 minutes away, we were simply trying to keep the bride comfortable.
Shayln and I did exchange words, but what escalated the situation was not the issue itself, it was the way she spoke to me. She was condescending and spoke to me as though I was incapable of understanding that office spaces have designated purposes. My point was simply that no meetings or activities were taking place in the area where we were waiting at that moment, and the ceremony was about to begin. Allowing the bride to remain there for a few more minutes seemed like the most reasonable and compassionate solution. Instead, Shayln suggested that the bride return to her room, despite the obvious possibility that someone could see her before the ceremony. On such an important day, empathy and problem-solving should have been the priority. Instead, her approach was rude, dismissive, and created unnecessary stress during what should have been a joyful occasion.
One personβs behavior did not define the entire resort, and I donβt want it to overshadow the kindness shown by so many other employees. However, Shaylnβs attitude was completely out of place in the hospitality industry. Working with guests requires patience, professionalism, and empathy, and based on my experience, those qualities were noticeably absent.
The food was probably the weakest part of the experience, but thatβs something Iβve come to expect at many all-inclusive resorts. While there were a few enjoyable meals, the overall dining experience wasnβt the highlight of the trip.
Despite that unfortunate encounter, I would still recommend Royalton Grenada for its beautiful property, peaceful atmosphere, and the many staff members who truly made our stay enjoyable. I especially want to recognize Monique, Nicolette, Lee, and Jermisha for their outstanding service. They consistently demonstrated the warmth, professionalism, kindness, and genuine hospitality that make guests feel valued. They were welcoming, attentive, and always willing to help with a smile.
I also want to recognize the security guard with braces. Unfortunately, I never got his name, but he was absolutely phenomenal. Every interaction with him was pleasant. He was incredibly polite, personable, and always greeted guests with a positive attitude. He is exactly the type of employee every resort hopes to have.
The employees mentioned above truly embody the qualities that anyone working in hospitality should possess, and they deserve recognition for the positive impact they had on our experience. They are the reason I would consider returning to Royalton Grenada.
