The Riu Ocho Rios is a fantastic hotel complex surrounded by beautiful Caribbean landscaped nestled in an enchanting environment. The hotel enjoys a beachfront location in one of the best destinations of Jamaica, at approximately 8 km from Ocho Rios town. Kingston is reachable after a 2 hour drive. This family-friendly beach hotel provides an excellent all-inclusive service and a wide range of entertainment options. In this hotel, guests can take advantage of all the facilities and services expected for a pleasant stay.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Location of hotel great. Room is good but needs a bit more attention to detail. Food very good and no problem getting into speciality restaurants. Jamaican section long queues so needs to be made bigger. Staff overall good . Entertainment in theatre did not have enough seats for the amount of people there so had to result in standing which was a shame. Overall we enjoyed our holiday.
We met a lot of wonderful staff members who went above and beyond to make sure we had an excellent stay .Buffet staff, Orlando, Frank, Eddie, Roxanne, Alicia, Kerry-ann Felicia, Michele karoline Talia Sharnette big up to Sandra Lynn, front desk staff my girl Eliecia .upper management has no personality.
The staff where incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout out stay. Rooms where immaculate and very confortable
The good: Overall the staff are friendly, housekeeping staff attentive, food and entertainment was good, cleanliness of the pool and main areas clean.
The downside: Rooms in block one are in need of renovation! Get rid of the dark brown mahogany furniture as it’s makes the room look and feel dated. Upgrade the bathrooms too and remember the little things like hooks to hang towels, extractor fans in the bathrooms so it doesn’t end up smelling damp due to showering. Replace the towels in the bathroom. They feel rough and looked dated.
I have been to the Riu Ochi Rios twice now. I always find the experience more positive than negative, however, there were a few things. Most of the staff were very friendly, kind, and willing to help. There were others that looked like they were not enjoying their job. The Jamaican station needed to be bigger. We had some good food, but it needed to be every day instead of all the stations with American foods all the time. In Jamaica you need the ultimate Jamaican experience. This needs to be taken into account.
