I am a travel agent, and based on my experience, I cannot recommend Ocean Eden Bay to any clients or future travelers. I visited this resort for my 50th birthday celebration with a group of 25 guests, including my young adult children and my 75‑year‑old mother.
In the months leading up to our stay, I worked closely with the Group Advisor, who was helpful and attentive during the planning process. I arranged special room requests, birthday decorations, and personalized surprises for several guests well over a month in advance. I had special room requests, birthday decorations and special surprises for some of my guests, including myself. Unfortunately, the service delivered upon arrival did not reflect any of that preparation.
From the moment we checked in, we encountered significant issues with room assignments, missing decorations, and extremely poor butler service. I had paid for multiple birthday cakes and a special birthday dinner, yet these arrangements were mishandled or not delivered at all, turning what should have been a joyful celebration into a stressful ordeal. It was a TOTAL nightmare..
Although the group travel representative attempted to correct some of the problems, these efforts came only the day before our departure—far too late to salvage the experience. The butler service, which we paid extra for, was consistently unprofessional and unreliable. The situation became so upsetting that I was brought to tears on multiple days during what was supposed to be my milestone birthday trip.
On our final day, the Head Butler approached me for feedback. I told him honestly that he would not want my review. He apologized and encouraged me to submit a detailed account so the resort could address the issues.
After returning home, I took time to gather my thoughts and wrote a thorough five‑page review outlining the positive aspects (there were a few), the many negative experiences, and the truly unacceptable failures in service. Despite this, I have not received any response from the resort regarding my concerns or any attempt to resolve the issues raised.
Additionally, I am still owed a refund for a cheeseboard I purchased in April for my mother’s 75th birthday—an item that was never delivered during our stay. I have been waiting nearly 30 days for reimbursement with no communication from the resort.
I have emailed multiple departments and contacts at the property, yet I have received no replies, no accountability, and no resolution. I paid for services and amenities that were not provided, including upgraded customer service packages that were never fulfilled.
I attempted to handle this matter privately with the resort rather than posting publicly, but their complete lack of communication has left me no choice but to share my experience here and with the Jamaican Consumer Affairs Commission.
