- Club Dubrovnik Sunny Hotel

This hotel is located on the coast of the picturesque Babin Kuk peninsula, just a few steps to the beach and 6 km from Dubrovnik old town. Dubrovnik Airport can be reached in half an hour drive away. The comfortable rooms offer all the amenities for an exciting and unforgettable holiday. Everyone will have fun at the hotel, with its sports programmes and leisure activities like aqua aerobics and morning gymnastics. The outdoor pool with sun loungers and parasols, and children's swimming area are perfect for a dip. The nearby sandy and pebble beach give guests the chance to try a range of water sports. Its proximity to the beaches, onsite facilities and meals with a wide range of Mediterranean specialties, all combine to make this the ideal holiday destination for the whole family.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
The hotel is perfect for families, as it offers plenty of activities for both older and younger children. The hotel complex features a truly massive playroom with numerous interactive games, trampolines, soft play areas for toddlers, and animators. Every child can find something they love. The food is fresh and delicious, especially the desserts. There is always soup, a selection of salads, a chef's specials prepared right in front of the guests, as well as meat, fish, and vegetarian dishes with various side options. Children also have plenty of choices — every meal includes soup with different toppings (noodles, croutons, bread cubes), pizza, and pasta. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel and the rooms are very clean especially the public areas and the poolside restrooms. The pool is big and also had two slides. A pebble beach with crystal-clear sea is located in the immediate vicinity. I highly recommend it - it is good value for money.
We had a lovely time here. Don’t let the reviews put you off as it’s a perfectly good hotel. Staff are amazing and work very hard. The hotel itself is clean with a fantastic pool and slides. Food not lots of choice but what they do is very good. Great quality meats, fresh salads/vegetables, fresh pizzas and generally something for everyone. Mario World was much better than expected and a real plus. The only down side is we realised the discos/shows were in the ‘Theatre’ room on the last day so sadly missed them. Make sure to ask when entering Maro World as it’s not clear where this room actually is or that it’s in a room at all! We just assumed they weren’t on which is a shame as my daughter was so looking forward to them, and I believe one show was her favourite K Pop Demon Hunters ☹️. A few other people had the same experience, it’s not the end of the world but just a bit disappointing. The views can’t go without a mention; they are absolutely spectacular and it’s so peaceful and calming looking out to the mountains and sea. We love Croatia and love this hotel. Thank you for a fabulous stay!
Terrible Hotel – Poor Service and Very Run Down
This was a very disappointing stay and far below what we expected from a family hotel.
The biggest issue was an ant infestation. We had ants in our room for several days, including in our bed. After reporting the problem, the hotel offered us only two options: move to another room of the same standard but in a worse location, or have the room sprayed with chemicals while we were travelling with our 5-year-old daughter. Neither option was reasonable.
Moving rooms would have meant spending several hours of our vacation packing, unpacking, and settling into a new room, yet the hotel offered no compensation or goodwill gesture for the inconvenience. The lack of customer service and willingness to resolve the issue was extremely disappointing.
The hotel itself is also very worn down. Many areas feel old, tired, and not particularly clean.
Other negatives:
The food was average at best, with very little variety. Cleanliness in the restaurant was poor. On one morning, every breakfast bowl available still had food residue on it. I had to complain directly to the restaurant manager because it looked like they had emptied the dishwasher before the cycle had finished. The pool area has no lifeguards, despite being filled with families and children. During our stay, we witnessed several accidents in the children's pool area, which was concerning. Smoking is allowed throughout the pool area. For a hotel marketed toward families, it would make much more sense to have a designated smoking area away from the pools and children.
Overall, this hotel did not meet the standard we expected. Between the ant infestation, poor service, lack of cleanliness, outdated facilities, and inadequate attention to guest safety and comfort, we would not recommend staying here.
I had a wonderful experience at Sunny Dubrovnik. Great location, super close to the beach and just a 15min ride with a bus to the Old Town. All of the staff were really helpful and friendly and I enjoyed the food variety at the restaurant.
We are currently staying at Sunny and, overall, we have had a lovely holiday. The hotel’s location is fantastic — it’s easy to walk to lots of places, and Ubers to the Old Town are very cheap.
There are definitely some positives to the hotel. You can always find a sun lounger, regardless of the time of day, which is a big plus. The restaurant is spacious and has plenty of choice. Maro World is also brilliant for children and has been one of my daughter’s main activities apart from the pool.
Unfortunately, there are also quite a few negatives, especially when you consider this is an all-inclusive hotel.
I travel frequently and always choose all-inclusive hotels as I travel with my daughter, but I have found this hotel surprisingly basic.
There is no ice cream included unless you pay extra for it. Pool towels also come at an additional cost of €2/€2.50 each, and you have to pay again if you want to change them for fresh towels.
All of the bars are self-service, and many drinks come with an additional charge. The drinks from the machines are extremely sweet, so if you are travelling with children, you may find yourself needing to water them down. They do have regular fizzy drinks such as Sprite, but unfortunately these are also charged extra.
The rooms are okay but very basic. There are no tea or coffee-making facilities, and although there is a fridge, the hotel does not provide bottled water.
We were also given a room near the service entrance, which unfortunately made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Most mornings, there seemed to be very little consideration for guests, with deliveries being brought in extremely early and a lot of banging and noise. We also had a road nearby, and on some mornings service staff were using equipment such as leaf blowers very early. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t say it was the best sleep I’ve had during a holiday, and the location of our room definitely contributed to this.
There is also no daytime entertainment at the hotel itself unless you download the app and find a sister hotel nearby that is running activities.
The biggest disappointment for me was our departure day. I contacted British Airways in advance to ask about keeping our room because we have an afternoon flight and I wanted my daughter to be able to enjoy the pool before we left. When I asked reception, I was told this wasn’t possible. I was advised that if a room became available, it would cost €150. There was also no room available simply for us to shower and change. We were told we would have to use the pool showers and the toilets around the hotel to get ready before leaving.
This is something I have never experienced before, and I found it particularly disappointing when travelling with a child.
Overall, we have still had a lovely holiday, and the location and children’s facilities have been great. However, when we booked this hotel, the reviews were fantastic, which was a big reason why we chose it. Based on our experience, I personally wouldn’t recommend it if you are looking for a good-quality all-inclusive stay. For us, it has felt extremely basic, with too many extras being charged for things I would normally expect to be included in an all-inclusive
