Dome Beach Hotel

We stayed at the Dome Beach Hotel & Resort in Ayia Napa for two weeks on an all-inclusive basis from 5 September, and we had a fantastic holiday. We don’t normally choose all-inclusive now that our children are grown up, but because I was recovering from leg surgery, we wanted somewhere with everything close at hand. The Dome Beach completely changed our opinion of all-inclusive holidays, and we absolutely cannot wait to return.

The hotel is spotlessly clean, spacious and beautifully maintained. Because of its size, it never felt crowded because there are so many different seating areas, lounges, pools, bars and places to relax. The air conditioning throughout the hotel works brilliantly, and our room always stayed lovely and cool.

The staff are a real credit to the hotel. Everyone was friendly, attentive, polite and efficient, but also warm, chatty and good fun. The bar staff always had a laugh with us, and the restaurant staff couldn’t do enough for their guests. I’m terrible at remembering names, unfortunately, but I must mention Maria, who I believe was the Customer Relations Manager. She is a lovely woman from the UK—friendly, funny and always available to answer questions or help with anything.

The food was absolutely gorgeous: fresh, tasty, varied and constantly replenished. Even towards the end of a service, everything was still being topped up. Staff continually checked the quality and presentation of the food, cleaned up any spills and made sure the buffet looked inviting. Used plates were usually cleared from the table almost immediately.

Breakfast offered an enormous choice, including breads and rolls, jams, honey, meats, cheeses, olives, fresh and dried fruits, porridge and cereals. The hot selection included scrambled, poached, fried and boiled eggs, bacon, different types of sausage, beans, mushrooms and hash browns. There were coffee machines, tea, juice machines and toast machines, and it was all self-service, so you could eat as much as you wanted.

There was plenty of seating inside the air-conditioned restaurant or outside if you preferred.

Lunch and dinner were equally impressive. At lunchtime, staff took our drinks orders and brought them to the table within minutes. The salad selection included tabbouleh, couscous, hummus, Greek salad, beetroot salad, tuna salad, olives and much more. There was soup every day, alongside chicken, pork, lamb, stir-fries, curries, different rice dishes, lentils, chickpeas and mixed beans.

A chef also served freshly cooked food each day and evening, sometimes carving fresh joints of meat and sometimes preparing pasta or other dishes. There were themed evenings, including Asian and Mexican nights, so the food never felt repetitive.

There was a children’s section with pizza, pasta and sauce, chips, nuggets and fish fingers. The fruit and dessert selections were huge and delicious. My advice is to do yourself a favour and pack elasticated-waist trousers!

The afternoon snack bar isn’t really a “snack” bar, as the portions are more like full meals. The menu included chicken wraps and chips, burgers, vegetable wraps, sandwiches, nuggets and a large, fresh Greek salad. We ate there one afternoon and were too full to manage dinner that evening. I think it stayed open until approximately 5:00 or 5:30 p.m. They also served lovely iced coffees and cake every afternoon, which was another great part of the all-inclusive offering.

There are also three separate bookable restaurants: Greek, Italian and teppanyaki/Japanese. You can dine in each one once per week and book at reception the day before.

I have some food allergies, and the staff were excellent. They discussed everything with me and adapted the menus slightly to remove the allergens.

The Italian restaurant served the best bruschetta I have ever eaten, followed by salad, pasta, pizza and dessert. I couldn’t finish everything because there was so much food, but it was delicious.

At the teppanyaki restaurant, we had soup, sushi, a choice of main course, followed by cake and ice cream.

The Greek restaurant was my personal favourite. We had hummus, taramasalata, Greek salad, mushrooms, prawns, sausage, souvlaki, fries, breads and more. It was absolutely delicious.

There are pool bars and beach bars, and service was always quick. The all-inclusive package included cocktails, wine, beer, spirits, soft drinks and ice creams. The alcoholic drinks were certainly not diluted—the measures were extremely generous! Let’s just say there was one evening when I couldn’t remember going to bed!

I took a cooler flask for my wine, and the staff were happy to fill it so the wine stayed cold while we sat in the sunshine. It was a small thing, but it made such a difference.

There are two very large pools, and neither ever felt overcrowded. Guests were allowed to use pool floats, which was brilliant because many hotels don’t permit them.

The main pool has around six sets of pool ladders. There is also a proper set of steps into the shallower end, with handrails on both sides. I was recovering from leg surgery and using crutches, but I found the pool area safe and not at all slippery.

The second pool is slightly smaller and has a lovely children’s section with a flat, walk-in entrance. We saw quite a few guests using mobility scooters and wheelchairs around the resort.

There were foam parties at the pool on Saturdays and Sundays, which both children and adults seemed to love.

The kids’ club is next to the children’s pool, and I think there was also a pool table. Lots of entertainment was advertised, although we can’t comment on it personally because we were visiting as a couple and didn’t use that area.

Before travelling, I requested a room on a lower floor because of my mobility difficulties, and the hotel granted my request.

Our room was spacious, with a massive, comfortable bed and lots of storage. The large balcony had a table and chairs as well as a rack for drying clothes.

The room was cleaned every day and the sheets were changed regularly. We had an over-bath shower, although I believe some rooms have walk-in showers. Our shower was hot and powerful—I loved it.

One day we had one small issue with the sink not draining properly. We reported it, and it was fixed that same afternoon. We also requested additional pillows, which arrived within about 30 minutes.

The room had a hairdryer, kettle and fridge, plus a basket of toiletries, including shampoo and shower gel. Two bottles of water were waiting in the fridge when we arrived. Keep the bottles, as you can refill them with fresh drinking water at the bars or in the restaurant. For guests arriving after the restaurants have closed, they offered a pre packed sandwich on arrival.

Another useful point for UK visitors is that the rooms have UK plug sockets, so we didn’t need travel adapters. There is also a free ironing room near reception.

Although the beaches aren’t owned by the hotel, its location is perfect. The hotel is right beside them, so you can sit with a drink and look out over the sea. One beach is slightly stony when entering the water, so I would recommend taking beach shoes. With those on, I was absolutely fine. The sea was probably the warmest I have ever been in and was shallow and lovely for swimming and snorkelling—we saw plenty of fish.

There were always loungers and parasols available to hire. Two loungers and a parasol cost €10. It had a really relaxed atmosphere. The second beach, on the other side of the hotel, was stunning and possibly the nicest beach I have ever visited. It had fine white-golden sand and beautiful, clear blue water, with barely a stone in the sea. The water was shallow and calm, with no real waves, so it felt very safe for children.

The loungers and parasols were the same price, but because the beach was so close to the hotel, some guests simply sat at the front of the hotel and enjoyed the view without hiring them.

Even though the temperatures were high, this was one of the most comfortable holidays I’ve had abroad. Being directly beside the beach meant there was often a light breeze, which stopped it from feeling unbearably hot.

People often wandered to the local shops, although we didn’t because I was struggling with my mobility. There is a shop on site selling snacks, water, sweets, some clothing, sunglasses and gifts to take home. We took a taxi into Ayia Napa one evening. The hotel arranged it for us, the journey took approximately 15–20 minutes, and I think it cost around €15. It was easy to get a taxi back because there are taxi ranks in Ayia Napa. We only did this once because of my mobility, but it was very straightforward.

The hotel also has a spa, where I had a fantastic massage. It cost 30e for 30 minutes. Great price!

There were several weddings during our stay. It was lovely to see everyone dressed up, and the wedding setting at the far end of the beach was gorgeous. The ceremony took place by the beach, followed by drinks in an upstairs bar and an evening celebration in a beautiful marquee-style venue on the beach. The weddings were held in separate areas and didn’t affect our holiday in any way—they were simply lovely to see.

We asked whether we could keep our room on our final day because our flight wasn’t until the evening. Unfortunately, this wasn’t possible because the hotel was full, but the alternative arrangements were excellent. There was a luggage room where we could leave our cases, and we kept our all-inclusive wristbands, so we could continue eating and drinking until it was time to leave. We were also able to book a free 30-minute session in the spa jacuzzi and then use the spa shower to get ready for our journey home. I have to give a shout out to the 3 gorgeous helpful (brunette) girls working in the buffet restaurant, 2 of whom used to make the iced coffees too. (They have plant based milks available) and also the 3 guys that generally worked the pool bar- great fun guys!

We honestly couldn’t fault this holiday. The Dome Beach Hotel & Resort exceeded our expectations in every way: the high standards, spotless cleanliness, delicious food, beautiful beaches, spacious pools and, most importantly, the wonderful staff.

I would highly recommend this hotel to couples, families and solo travellers. We were so sad to leave and absolutely cannot wait to return.

The stuff very helpfull and most of the people speak English. The most advantage is the near beach makronis. The sand in the water is like a blessing for the feet. Love this hotel! It’s clean, right on the beach, with great pools, and the staff are all fantastic. They can’t do enough for you, especially Harrydeep at the bar, and Antonia and Aristos at Reception. This is our second visit, and we’ll definitely be back. Thank you for another wonderful stay!
