Louis Althea Beach

Had an enjoyable week at the Louis Althea Beach.

Main pool is lovely - can usually find a sunbed whatever time you go. Didn't try the top pool. There are sunbeds just opposite the beach too which is on a grassy area - only got a bed one day as I preferred the pool area. It is literally a stones throw away from a tiny little beach which is nice to go for a change. If you want bigger beaches with more going on, then turn right and walk along the path to Protaras, which is a good 45min walk, which has beaches on the way as well as the lovely Fig Tree Bay once you get there. You can also catch the bus into Protaras (the 102, and the 101 back to the hotel) which is about 5-7 mins away and 2 euro cash. Food was beautiful - I cannot understand any negative reviews. The only gripe was the pool snack bar - all-inclusive was only open from 11:00-12:30 then closed until 15:00-17:30, but if you wanted to pay, you could have burgers/pizzas from 12:00 til about 16:00. I think there should be more availability for snacks by the pool as not everyone wants to get dressed and go for their lunch in the main restaurant. The snacks they did do were lovely mind - fresh sandwiches and salads with desserts and fruit pots, with chicken nuggets and chips and waffles in the afternoon. The pool bar was decent too. Rooms were spacious but a little bit dated - didn't bother me in the slightest as it was clean - the maids came in every day to replace towels, make beds up and empty bins. We had a ground floor room and it was right near the pool so I was happy with that choice as there was only 1 pool toilet for ladies. Staff are lovely and helpful - yeah there's the odd misery, but there's also some horrible guests. Entertainment was not great - activities throughout the day were fine but night time was poor - I mean they tried their best (there were only 3 girls when we went). It didn't really bother us as we wandered up the road to the bars a few nights. Hotel is situated in an ideal location - few supermarkets and restaurants very close by, and there was a little strip of bars/restaurants a five minute walk away. Everyone tended to congregate in Windmills Bar on the corner as it had live music on every night, but not til 22:00. We preferred Blackadder over the road as the manager Kyle was lovely, and they had football on too. Fresh House is a good shout for food too. Would return to this area, and maybe even this hotel, but we do like to try new things. I would recommend it though.

Firstly what a fantastic entertainment team , lovely friendly talented people, a huge thank you to Ryan , Lola , Jessie , Anneli and Eva , they really made our holiday special…Go team Jess !!! ( future superstar)

Food was great as you’d expect at a Louis hotel , pools are great , although the top pool has good rules that aren’t enforced, it would be better as adults only really .

Rooms need updating, however they are clean and a good size , reception staff are lovely and helpful, bar staff also great , especially George who was fantastic.

The grass area for sun beds has great views but it could be kept tidier , grass needs looking after better .

Very easy to get a bus or taxi into Protaras, boat trips are good value and easy walk from the hotel to the marina , worth going to Blue Lagoon and Turtle bay .

Overall a good stay , and again wonderful entertainment team !
