Vangelis Hotel and Suites

This was our first visit to Protaras and definitely wont be our last! We arrived in the early morning and our check in was very smooth. The reception staff were all very help and brought our suitcases to our room. Room Initially we were slightly disappointed that our room was located on the ground floor of block B, which overlooked the entrance to the hotel. I had put a special request to place us on a high floor, with a pool view if possible, as there was not option to upgrade when I made my booking. However, in the end we didn’t mind being on the ground floor, and our balcony got the sun in the mornings. Our only slight issue was the noise from people waiting on the elevator which was beside our room. Are room was spotless upon arrival and we had two bottles of water placed in the fridge for us. The hotel and pool area are very well maintained and we had no cleanliness issues during our stay. Pool Around the main pool, there was no shortage of sun loungers and no mad rush in the mornings to obtain one, however the majority of the right side of the pool is in the shade most of the day, so obtaining a lounger in the sun may be a struggle during peak season. Around the adult pool, we found most of the loungers in the sun are taken up before 8:45am so you need to be down early to secure a spot, however the hotel states the pools do not open until 9am. Food and Drink We stayed bed and breakfast so can only comment on our morning meal. The food was lovely and typical to what you would expect as a hotel breakfast (yoghurt, pastries, full English) . The dining area is large and you can either sit inside or outside. My only wish would be for some more chopped fresh fruit and unfortunately the breakfast juice from the machines were room temperature. The drinks at the pool bar were ok but not the best quality or the strongest. There are many water stations around the hotel where you can fill your water bottle, which was very helpful and a great touch. Location This hotel is in the perfect location right in the middle of the strip, with plenty of bars and restaurants around. Although we never had an issue with noise coming from any of the bars. Fig Tree bay is about a 5-10 minute and around 15mins from Protaras pier where loads of boat trips depart from. The walk along the boardwalk is beautiful and there are plenty of beach front bars with gorgeous views of the Med, if you prefer something different from the typical strip. As we were not all inclusive, we went out to dine every evening, during our visiting we thoroughly enjoyed all of our meals but our personal favourites were Raj’s Indian and Sonja. For a quick lunch Zorbas bakery by fig tree bay has everything you could imagine. There was plenty to do in the evenings in all of the nearby bars. The hotels evening entertainment was not the best, we would of preferred a traditional “quiz” or “music quiz” night rather than having to run onto the stage to answer. Check out We had a late flight and enquired the day before about a late check out as normal check out is at 12pm. It is a reasonable price of €10 per hour to extend. We requested to extend to 5pm, however were only approved to 2pm, this was ok as we were able to book a 30 minute slot in the courtesy room which had a shower, towels and hairdryer provided. Overall We would highly recommend this hotel for both couples and families, and we would definitely stay at Vangelis again!

It’s a real shame that the quality of the food and drinks at this hotel let it down. The staff were fabulous, the beds comfortable and the Hotel was in a good location, however the food was cheaply made and with no flavour. No omelette station, no poached eggs, no sliced salmon, not even one day and no melon not even at breakfast, no meat carving station. One day I saw what I thought was sliced beef on a board and I was pleasantly surprised until I realised it was in fact liver! All the labels to the food are incorrect too so if you have allergies I’d check with the chef and take no notice of the labels. The soups were nice but that’s about it.
