Good points Entertainment staff were amazing Beds comfy Food well cooked
Bad points Strong sewerage smell in the room. Insufficient storage in the rooms. Tiny drinks served in plastic cups. Morning coffee in paper cups. Did not refill coffee and tea in the rooms. Staff miserable and in some cases rude and unhelpful. There are 2 pools 1 of them being an activity pool but management decided it was ok to disturb everyone in the main pool area by setting up water polo there. The drinks were not good. Small poolside area sun beds crammed in.
The smell was so bad in room 1616 we with the help of a jet2 rep went to view other rooms the first 1 also stunk of sewage but the second room we were shown smelled ok but had a tiny balcony with only space for 2 chairs when it was a family room and some of the wood around the dresser was falling off. There is far more I could talk about but don’t want to create an essay Just avoid this hotel if you expect 4*
General:
2b) Location isn't directly on the beach and you will have to walk down a steep hill to get to use the very small beachfront at the bottom. 3) No shop within the complex as originally stated on website. 4) Beach towels are hired at 10 euros each 5) There is a distinctive smell of sewage around block 14 some late evenings.
Stairs: There is no mention of the shear volume of steps around this place. For the elderly this alone may prove exceptionally difficult. You will need to constantly walk the parameter of the resort to get to where you need to be. However, most rooms are still at the top of some steps. Welcome drinks in Reception is simply water flavoured with either citrus fruit or cucumber.
Rooms: On the face of it, it looks lovely. Clean, spacious and light. On closer inspection you find;
2b) Hanging space for clothes is so high up it's difficult to reach. 3) Beds are covered with one very flimsy sheet that doesn't quite cover the mattress and one on top used as a cover - no bedspread and blankets are on top shelf of wardrobe approx 7-8ft high. Although they aren't that soft and the ones we had were cigarette burnt with holes in them. 4) Bathroom has large shower but minimal towels. 4b) No face flannels 4c) No shaving mirror or power 4d) No cups for cleaning teeth 4e) Toilet flush is pulling away from wall with water dripping from it. 4f) Water is nice and hot 5) No iron in room. These are hired from reception but are very small 6) There is nowhere to dry clothes on the balcony unless you throw them over the barrier 7) If you use the coffee/tea facilities in your room, used cups are ofren left there. 8) Rooms are cleaned daily but check what towels are replaced. We had to 'hide' towels to ensure we had some.
Restaurant/food/drink
1b) Staff are ok but most not happy often found carrying out other chores around the complex when not on waiting duties. 2) Food is appalling. 2b) Dishes with chicken or pork made the meat dry 2c) Children's buffet menu consisted most nights of chips or wedges, fish fingers that tasted of a poor fishcake, cheesy balls, chicken nuggets on the odd occasion or pasta on the odd occasion. 2d) Very little choice of breakfast cereals and those that were there tasted like cardboard. Most people avoid them. 3) Fruit juice machines are often empty in the mornings. 4) A note was posted under our door to say that evening meal times have changed to start at 7pm. This isn't what I would call convenient for children. 5) There is always a large selection of food but not all options go well together. 6) Breakfast was the worst meal of the day. Scrambled eggs appeared to be made from powder and resemble a big vat of egg custard. Fried eggs are often uncooked with slimey uncooked whites visible. Bacon is swamped in oil and cooked overlapping so not all of the bacon saw much heat. As the bacon was streaky it meant that the actual fat didn't have time to render. Salmon looked hacked to death on a plate and very unappetising. 6b) Lot's of prosessed meats which turn to sludge in the mouth 7) Bar drinks are often very cheap alternatives and didn't taste much like the premium. 7b) I paid for an Irish coffee but knew I was in trouble when the barman asked if I wanted sugar, then got out a can of squirty cream and mixed it all up so I ended up with a white coffee with an additional squirt of cream on top. 7c) A wide selection of cocktails are available but don't look impressive when made.
The Tavern Kyclos by the sea Restaurant!
FREE to all-inclusive for one time during your stay. Don't get excited it's just where you get the drinks from during the day around the pool. The marketing flyers suggest a very quaint Restaurant literally by the sea. This is not true.
Entertainment
3b) Some people played music around the pool too loud and to the detriment of everyone else who was relaxing. 3c) Strict rules about food and drink in the pool were ignored and no one said anything.
We stayed this hotel in the middle of June . Me and my wife and 12 year old son.We had a family room that had partition was a decent size with nice air con. The food was excellent and the mezze night was nice change. Most staff were fine special mention to Costas(Scottish connection) and lady on reception Patrisiaa . Jamie at concierge was also helpful and very enthusiastic. Location was a wee bit out the way from the main town but can get the bus from top of road. There’s also a 24hr supermarket top of the road as well that caters for most stuff even if the staff are really miserable. I would recommend this hotel pool gets really busy and everyone on top of each other but there’s more space and the back looking into the sea. Entertainment team ok the young girl from Hungary was really nice.
Hotel ELENI was a very good choice for our stay. Even though we booked only breakfast, we were very pleased with the quality, we were very pleased with the quality, cleanliness, and friendly service. Special thanks to to Gianna for her smile and kindness. We would happily stay here again.
