Ascos Coral Beach Hotel

I spent 11 days at this hotel middle of July and was not disappointed. I booked this hotel last minute for a quiet break away by myself. The hotel is beach front in a quiet location at the very bottom of a side road off the main Coral Bay high street. So it was perfectly located for a 5 min walk to the main Coral Bay centre with plenty of restaurants, gift shops, a large supermarket and cocktail bars to choose from.
While it is a beach front hotel, there is a rocky drop down to the beach so if you're looking for a beach for the kids there is bus you can take from the main high street to Coral Bay beach in about 5 minutes. I chose to walk to the beach and get the bus back as some of the walk back is uphill and I was grateful for an air conditioned bus in 38 degree heat to take me back to the hotel.
The hotel itself has a welcoming feel to it, and you definitely get the feeling it is a family run hotel rather than a large chain. The hotel has a pleasant, modern decor as do the rooms. I had a lovely double room with a side sea view overlooking the beach looking up the coast towards Paphos. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and are equipped with a small fridge and kettle. The rooms are kept very clean thanks to the hard working housekeeping team. The outside areas are also very well looked after, the gardens and pool area are maintained to an excellent standard and even though it was mid July and the hotel was fairly busy there were plenty of sun beds available, no sun bed wars going on at this hotel. I particularly liked this hotel because the outside area was quite spacious so you could choose a sunbed in a quieter part of the gardens if you did not want to be sat on top of the pool itself. There were also activities throughout the day in and around the pool, such as water aerobics, pool volley ball as well as there being a designated area for the archery lessons that took place several times a week. Evening entertainment was mainly live singers performing in the outside bar area by the pool. The hotel offers different board plans, I chose to go half board and not all inclusive as I'm not much of a drinker so would not have made use of the alcohol package. My package consisted of breakfast and dinner, but I was able to have lunch instead of dinner on a couple of the days. Breakfast and lunch is taken in the daytime restaurant which is ground floor with indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the pool. Dinner is served in the main restaurant on the first floor, and again has a lovely modern decor. The food on offer is buffet style and was some of the best I have had at a hotel, extremely delicious so compliments to the chef. So much choice on offer at both breakfast and dinner and most nights I struggled to make a decision on what to eat as there was so much on offer, and the only downside was that I didn't have room to try more dishes. The staff in the restaurants are so friendly and welcoming. Arif and his team in the restaurants and bar work so hard to make guests feel special, they always greet you with a smile and take the time to check if there is anything they can do for you to make your stay more enjoyable. They are a real asset to to the hotel. In fact I cannot say enough about the staff at the hotel, everyone was so friendly, polite and hard working and they really do look after their guests. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and really didn't want to leave so I can say with certainty that I will be back for another stay in the future. This may be a 4 star hotel but honestly it felt like 5 star service and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Remembering this is a 3 plus star hotel and not going what other reviews say then this hotel has been the best we stayed for 2 weeks, staff are friendly and polite throughout the hotel, good was very good and lots of variety to make up different types of meals everyday, desserts are great, ice cream and ice lollies available all day long, pool Was perfect, clean and always sunbeds available no matter what time of day so no need to put towels out at sunrise. Room basic but everything u need for a holiday and bathroom had good shower and rooms cleaned everyday. Sunbed towels available and good quality, bar services very good, shop onsite had little bit of everything people may need and good souvenirs same as the main strip but cheaper and staff in there very welcoming. Location perfect 10 min walk to bars/restaurants and shops. Bus service outside hotel very regular, only downside was the access to the beach very steep hill down from hotel to pebble beach but sunbeds and bar there but also close to staff living area so not so clean and tidy walking past that and should be option for late check for guests with pick ups after 6pm. Overall it's slowly going through renovations and parts are old but would highly recommend this hotel for location friendly and welcoming staff and peaceful surroundings of the hotel.
