A nice resort unfortunately let down by a very poor reception experience.

A nice resort unfortunately let down by a very poor reception experience.

Our suite was spacious and comfortable, and the cleaning was excellent. Our housekeeper was absolutely outstanding — professional, considerate and so quiet that when our child was sleeping, you could barely hear her working.

There is a good variety of pools with attentive lifeguards, which we appreciated as a family. Sea access is less impressive; you need to walk around 15 minutes to reach a proper sandy area suitable for swimming.

The main buffet has good variety and always includes a children’s section. Lamb and chicken were consistently excellent, while beef was average and pork was usually dry. The fish selection was disappointing and mostly inexpensive cuts, with no salmon or quality fish — surprising for an island. Fruit, drinks, ice cream, cheeses, dairy products and desserts were very good. I would avoid the falafel. We also found the alternative restaurants not really worth it; the main buffet was better overall. The service in the restaurants was excellent and the staff there were very friendly, attentive and professional, which made dining a much better experience.

The biggest disappointment was reception.

We arrived at 14:15 after five hours of flying and three hours of driving with an exhausted and hungry young child. We were told check-in was at 15:00 and, despite explaining that our child needed food and rest, there was no attempt to help. At 15:00, after queuing again, we were told to wait another 20 minutes because the room was not ready. Ten minutes later, my wife firmly asked for the key — and suddenly it was available.

The attitude throughout our stay was generally cold and dismissive, often making us feel like we were disturbing them by asking for help.

We also reported a faulty shower and were promised a replacement. Despite reminding reception twice, nothing was done before we left.

During our stay, we also asked reception for recommendations on places to visit in the evening. The response was very unhelpful — we were simply told to go to the harbour, without any further explanation, suggestions, or even a map or directions, and no other places were mentioned.

Checkout was similar: no greeting or goodbye. The keys were simply taken without a word until I asked myself if everything was okay.

I travel frequently for work and stay in hotels across Europe almost every week, and I cannot remember being treated this coldly by a reception team.

Afterwards, I read the Google reviews and noticed that many other guests have also mentioned reception problems, so unfortunately our experience does not seem to be unique.

One important exception was a gentleman at reception, I believe of Indian background, whom we spoke with one evening. He was extremely polite, helpful and professional.

This was my first visit to Cyprus and, unfortunately, the experience did not leave the best first impression. Having also stayed at resorts in Sharm El Sheikh, I personally found the overall resort experience there significantly better, particularly in hospitality, service and food.

Overall, the hotel has many good qualities, especially the rooms, housekeeping, pools, the restaurant service and parts of the food offering. With a more welcoming and professional reception team, our impression would have been completely different.

Broken kids bed. Daughter trapped in toilet . Sliced open foot 😭

I want to start by saying, myself and family have 2/3 holidays a year , and mostly what is advertised for what we book meets or exceeds expectations , but that is definitely not the case here .

On day 1 of our holiday our 8 year old daughter nearly got folded in half by the single bed in the room ,(it caved in the middle with her in it) We managed to keep it from doing it again by placing suitcases under the bed , but the bed was changed the next day after informing reception , Day 2 our daughter went to use the pool toilets , and she got trapped inside when she locked the door from the inside then the lock was stuck .maitenence arrived and managed to set her free after using a crow bar to open the door .

Air con never worked in the room when we arrived , we told reception who sent Maitenence to fix , but it’s very poor air con and the only way to cool the room down is to make sure it’s on 24/7 on coldest setting so make sure you get a 2nd room key to leave plugged in or it won’t work ,

Please be extra careful at the water park , I went on one of the bigger slides , and when I entered the water from the slide my foot sliced open on the floor as it’s not smooth , the lifeguards were very good and managed to bandage my foot up .

Take some entertainment for the kids on a night time if you want to sit and have a drink after dinner , because apart from kids dance (20 mins or so) which is aimed at 1-5 year olds there isn’t anything to keep kids entertained. Every night is a singer , followed by a game of bingo which is 5 euros per page .. Now for some positives ..

Pool area is very big and clean , Food is very hit and miss at the buffet restaurant Can be tasty, but very repetitive. We used 2 al’a carte’s whilst there , the Greek, and Italian , Both were very nice . We never used the spa .

We only ever stay in 4/5 start hotels and I would give this a very genourous 3.. even though we paid a 5 star price ,(£3500 for the week) bar staff all look miserable , will take an order and serve you without even saying a word . Be down for your beds by 6.15 am latest as all the decent beds will be gone by 6.30am

Spoke to a Tui rep while we were there and she was an older German lady I can’t recall her name , but she was so helpful , and managed to get us a £500 voucher towards the cost of our next Tui holiday ,

I can’t see how much longer Tui will market this hotel as we were told their have been numerous complaints lately that Tui are apologising for with vouchers .

If you are used to a modern 4/5 star service you will definitely not get that here so please be forwarded when making your booking.

Aegeo Spa

I had the massage with Istvan and it was amazing. I felt the treatment very relaxed and it released the tension I had in my body. Additionally, I felt amazing when finished, specially considering that I had pain in my back. The treatment has helped on it for sure.

TripAdvisor Review
🇨🇾 Cyprus Family Holiday 2026 King Evelthon

We're currently waiting for our coach transfer home after a fantastic week at the King Evelthon. Before travelling, I read a lot of the reviews on TripAdvisor and, if I'm honest, I was a little anxious about what to expect. Thankfully, the hotel exceeded the level of service and expectations we were looking for, and we've had a wonderful family holiday with a group of 6 adults and 5 children.

I'll start with the negatives, as these may be deal-breakers for some people.

Firstly, the hotel advertises itself as a 5-star hotel, although we booked through Jet2 where it's listed as a 4-star. If you're expecting a true luxury 5-star experience, you may be disappointed. The hotel is a little tired in places. While many areas feel modern, there are scuff marks on some walls, the corridor carpets could be cleaner, and there was some mould around parts of the bathroom and even around a few of the room number signs. None of these affected our holiday, but they're worth mentioning.

There also isn't a poolside snack bar. Initially I thought this was a downside, but in reality it keeps the pool area much tidier and encourages everyone to head into the restaurant for lunch, which actually breaks up the day quite nicely. Our tea and coffee station wasn't replenished every day, and our balcony wasn't cleaned on one occasion, but these were only minor issues.

One thing that's also worth mentioning is the beach. The hotel sits right on the coastline, and the pool area has beautiful sea views. However, the beach directly in front of the hotel isn't suitable for swimming as it's extremely rocky. If you're hoping for a sandy beach, you'll need to walk left out of the hotel along the coastal path for around 20 minutes, where you'll find a lovely sandy beach that's well worth the walk. It wasn't an issue for us as we mainly used the pools, but it's something to be aware of if beach access is a priority.

Now onto the positives.

From the moment we arrived, the reception staff were welcoming and friendly. Vladislav checked us in and was extremely helpful, efficient and professional. We had three rooms booked, and one of our rooms was shown to by a bellboy (I believe his name was Dimitrius – apologies if I've spelt that incorrectly). He carried our luggage, explained the hotel facilities and showed us around the room, which was a lovely touch. I'm not sure if this service is always available, but it certainly made us feel welcome.

We stayed in a Superior Room, which was modern, spacious and comfortable. As mentioned, there were a few cosmetic issues in the bathroom, but nothing that spoiled our stay. The shower had excellent water pressure, the balcony was large, and the beds were very comfortable. On arrival we were also pleasantly surprised to find complimentary wine, bottled water, soft drinks and beer in the fridge. These aren't replenished during your stay, but it's still a nice gesture that we don't often see at other hotels.

The main restaurant is probably one of the smaller buffet restaurants I've experienced, but don't let that put you off. The food was genuinely tasty with plenty of variety across breakfast, lunch and dinner. Every evening there was enough choice that everyone in our group found something they enjoyed. The restaurant staff worked incredibly hard, clearing tables quickly and always happy to move tables around for larger groups.

The drinks selection was also good, with self-service soft drinks, beer and wine available. One feature I particularly liked was the iced coffee station, where you could make your own iced coffees. It's a small touch, but something I've never seen at another all-inclusive hotel.

For us, the pool area is the hotel's biggest selling point. It's absolutely huge, with a large main pool, a children's pool, and several long decorative pools around the sunbeds that are perfect for cooling off. There are two pool bars serving beer, cocktails and soft drinks. The drinks were good quality, and if you prefer a stronger cocktail, just ask and they're happy to oblige. The pool staff worked hard throughout the day, and there were plenty of lifeguards on duty, although we did notice some occasionally using their phones.

The hotel also has its own water park just a short walk away. There are plenty of slides for both adults and children, as well as a lazy river. We all had great fun there. My only criticism is that some of the slides felt a little uncomfortable where the sections joined together, but that's only a minor point.

Entertainment is probably the weakest area of the hotel. The animation team work hard and deserve credit, organising activities such as aqua zumba, French bowls and water polo during the day. In the evenings there's usually live singers, bingo and more live music. It was enjoyable enough, but nothing spectacular. We often ended up entertaining ourselves with cards and UNO, which we were perfectly happy doing. I'd also recommend requesting an outside table for dinner, as you'll already have a great seat for the evening entertainment.

Overall, we've had a brilliant holiday. Despite a few minor cosmetic issues, they never affected our enjoyment. The food exceeded our expectations, the drinks were good, the pool area was excellent, and the staff were friendly and hardworking throughout our stay.

Would I return? Absolutely. In fact, the only thing I'd change is staying for 10 days instead of 7.

A couple of tips for future guests:

  • If you're planning on using the water park, consider bringing water shoes, especially for younger children, as the ground gets very hot.

  • Ask for an outside table at dinner if you want a good view of the evening entertainment without having to search for a seat afterwards.

  • If you want a sandy beach, allow around a 20-minute walk along the coastal path to the left of the hotel.

A big thank you to all of the staff for helping make our family holiday such an enjoyable one.
