Beautiful hotel,. lovely food and all the staff were absolutely amazing.
Sitting here eating beans on toast, I have crash-landed back into reality after a lovely fortnight at St George.
This was a return visit but this time with our 2 older teens as a final family holiday before they opt to go to Ayia Napa instead and wake-up in a skip. We were allocated interconnecting rooms as requested. Rooms are spotless, well-equipped and have the essential air-con.
The allocated sunbeds are the big thing for me - who wants to be up at dawn reserving beds? We had beds in the area we wanted and we were very happy either snoozing, swimming or eating.
Pools are spotless and a perfect temperature. We preferred the upper pool as it was quieter.
Food is amazing and there is something for everyone. If you download the app on arrival, booking speciality restaurants is easy. Our favourite for food was Shoga but the team in Pelagos had the best service. Putting a patisserie / coffee bar in reception was a terrible mistake as its impossible to walk past without partaking.
There are a variety of bars. Avakas has the best cocktails and the sunset bar is great for, well, sunsets! Pity it doesn't stay open a bit later.
There have been odd comments about cats. Yes there are a few which is to be expected. They are friendly but equally if you ignore them they will ignore you too.
The only thing we found slightly irritating was the behavour of other guests. There were several wedding parties. Unfortunately one of these groups seemed to think they were on an 18-30. However, i will not blame the hotel for the bad behaviour of a few guests. Previous comments mention drunk teens. Teens were few and far between and we didn't see any of them rolling around drunk.
Entertainment isn't really our thing so can't comment but there was something different every night.
All of the staff are friendly and helpful whether the maintenance man or manager. In the early morning there is a secret army of staff quietly cleaning, pruning, restocking etc. I would suggest that in the days of Google Pay etc that the hotel could have a terminal to allow guests to tip and then be split amongst all the staff as they all deserve it.
After 2 weeks, I realise that I only left the hotel to nose around the shop up the road. I have been quite happily self-imprisoned for all this time and I have been deliriously happy and would extend my stay if I could.
However, I'm now sat at the kitchen table eating beans on toast, surrounded by laundry.
Book now, its lovely.
Overall lovely hotel. A few hiccups and not a hotel we would return too. We found every single member of staff friendly, happy and attentive. Except the reception staff, who spoke to us every single time we initiated conversation like we were a problem. Upon check in we had a small leak in our bathroom ceiling, our balcony door wouldn’t lock and our shower was filthy. We spoke to reception about this and did say we didn’t want to cause any problems, we don’t like to moan so made it very light hearted. The issues were sorted, but no communication, apologies or anything.
Whilst the Sunbed allocation was definitely a game changer- for the first few days I would have ratcheted a 6am battle for beds. We were put in the corner of an area, which didn’t even feel like we were in the hotel, we were in the shade all day, and had to trek to toilets, food and pools. We were switched to pool beds eventually but it just seemed a ball ache.
Buffets were simple and as a family of 4 we struggled with it significantly. The only one of the à la carte restraints which was enjoyable was the route 66 American the food was lovely. The Italian was awful and the staff had terrible attitudes and again seemed like they didn’t want to be there.
There were good points, the beds were comfortable, lovely sun beds. Pool bar staff were lovely!! evEning waiting staff were lovely and always remembered our orders so we tipped them each night. Cocktails were lovely! Especially a frozen lemon daiquiri!
We read all reviews before going and are very fair and well travelled but this is the first time I generally don’t understand the rave of this hotel, or why so many people return each year.
This was by far the best hotel myself and my wife have stayed in. The hotel was clean and hygienic. The staff across the whole hotel were so helpful and polite. Sunbed allocation was a real game changer here, no early morning fights for a good spot! Buffet food was really good for lunch and dinner, but the 4 a la carte restaurants went above and beyond. I was sceptical of the rave reviews this hotel constantly gets but believe me they are all spot on. Already booked again for 10 days in 2027!
We have had the best holidays ever here at St. George! The food was top notch, we enjoyed route 66, the Asian was even better!! the drinks at the bars were fantastic, the wine bar is a great idea as well as tiki bar! the rooms were great and clean we have got the sea view and we loved it!! All the staff extremely friendly absolutely fantastic guys that make this hotel even better. What we need to mention is the entertainment. We know that many guests might not come for the entertainment, but still everyone joined in every single night at the drops terrace. In the daytime variety of activities every single day. Big praise to Wojtek the entertainment supervisor for doing absolutely amazing job. This young lad is so professional and approachable, always here for everyone since morning till late night. Made sure everyone has the best time ever. We enjoyed speaking to him every day, and he was definetly a big part of our holidays!
