Akti Beach Village Resort

Visited in July with my Sister. Arrived late in early hours, we were given some snacks and got taken to our studio. Only 1 key per room and an actual heavy key also safe has a key. Deposits for safe and pool towel. Studio spacious for 2 ppl, wardrobe just enough for 2. Tea & coffee tray , kettle, fridge. One big bottle of water, refill when needed at day restaurant near pool bar, tap is on the back wall left side farthest from bar area. Food in the evening is themed. I loved the Oriental & Mexican. Food is pretty good on the whole, sometimes the potatoes can have to much herbs. Head Chef is friendly and explains about various food dishes. They have some nice & friendly staff who take time to greet you. The restaurant in the evening could sometimes be sweltering which is unpleasant trying to enjoy a meal. It makes for a hurried meal to get out quick. All inclusive drinks are your usual Cocktails made up but not premium. You can pay for some on the list. Sparkling wine available all inc. We both had birthday's on holiday, you don't get anything from the hotel. We never struggled to get a sunbed which is a bonus. Bus to Paphos harbour can be booked at reception for €6 return also drops off at the market €4. Studio in need of updating, bathroom looks grubby, especially the bath it never looks cleans it has permanent marks. We had cochroaches numerous times which I've never had in my room before they were huge . We had a balcony disaster nearer the end of our 2 week holiday. The upstairs balcony cement pain work came off in pieces which made quite the clatter on to our balcony. Luckily we weren't sat enjoying drinks. It got repaired quickly but they brushed all the debris on to the garden area which looked awful.

I always thoroughly research reviews about a hotel before I book, and this is the first time where reviews have not matched my experience. There is nothing at all that is luxurious about this hotel. It puts me in mind of a cheap Blackpool seafront hotel. The view indeed is fantastic but that is the only plus point. First impressions when we arrived were not great. Reception is very bland with no nice touches or decor. Our room was very dated and had a bad musty smell like rotting potatoes. It was particularly bad when you opened the cupboards in the kitchen. The food was the worst all inclusive I’ve ever had. Especially on French night where they served roast beef and Yorkshire puddings! There was always a long wait in the queue for ice cream -one very small freezer with rock hard budget ice cream which took little kids an age to scoop out. No ice cream available between meals except paid for ones. Snacks between meals were very poor. It was a few slices of bread and ham and cheese so you could make a sandwich. No chips or hotdogs like in other places. There was a pool table and air hockey which were charged extra at 2Euros a game. Should be free on all inclusive. Nighttime entertainment was very poor. There is no stage area - all acts were in a small area of the bar where the chairs were cleared. It was therefore difficult to see at the back. Bingo would have been good in the bar but it was not offered. Once positive was the efficient table service in the bar. However the drinks they served were not great and the cocktails terrible. I would seriously book somewhere else if I were you.

Honest review. Overall, we had a really good stay, but I wouldn’t rate this hotel as a 4-star.

I’ll start with the good bits - The location is lovely although out of the way, the food was nice, and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived late at night and were greeted with a packed lunch, which was a thoughtful touch. We had also emailed ahead to let the hotel know it was our friend’s birthday, and they left a bottle of wine and a cake in her room, which was a lovely gesture.

The rooms, however, were very outdated and could have been cleaner. No place to put your stuff so ended up keeping everything in the suitcases, The air conditioning also wasn’t very effective, making the room quite uncomfortable at times. I didn’t have one good nights sleep all week.

Drinks - One thing I found strange was that standard classic cocktails, such as a pina colada, weren’t included as part of the all inclusive package and the rest of the cocktails included wasn’t good. The all inclusive drinks also stopped at 11pm, which was a little disappointing with no where close by to go afterwards meaning unless you got a taxi somewhere you lose ,you had to head to bed. Another downside was that bottled water wasn’t replenished in the room each day which I found bizarre, meaning you had to remember to refill your own bottle before going to bed to avoid having no water during the night.

The entertainment was really non existent , and the bits of entertainment in the evening felt very geared towards children despite the hotel appearing to be more of an adults hotel. There was some daytime activities but nothing like there is at some other hotels I’ve stayed at.

Overall, we still had a lovely holiday, However, for the price we paid , the rooms and an aspects of the all inclusive package could definitely be improved.
