Grecotel Eva Palace

My husband, adult son and I have just returned from a week at this resort. The location is absolutely stunning and situated right next to a sister hotel Corfu Imperial. The gardens are beautiful, with many trees and different flowering plants which was great to explore to get a break from the sun. These are excellently maintained too. There were a few friendly ‘house cats’ roaming the gardens that belong to the hotel. The resort is terraced with lots of quite steep brick steps and concrete slopes, (this is why the views are so magnificent, so you can’t have it all) so not so good if you have mobility problems, but great if you want some daily exercise without going to the gym. Everything was well lit at night.

The beach was wonderful too and a great place to relax at the bar with a cocktail admiring the green mountains and gentle moving water. The beach is tucked into a big cove, so it was calm and peaceful. The beach is quite narrow, with a few cushioned sun beds and straw umbrellas and a few more plastic beds further along.

We stayed around the pool most days and it was lovely not to have music playing in your ears from speakers all around the edge. There was just the gentle hum of music from the pool bar which we much preferred. We were always able to get sun beds and these had great cushions and were very comfy with good umbrellas and waiter service to your beds from the pool bar.

This resort has a real ‘family feel’ to it. We stayed in the main building which is quite old, but has a lot of character. The rooms are dated, but the bed was modern and extremely comfy. We had a side sea view room, which we felt was a little cramped, so if you want a sea view and can stretch your budget, then I would recommend doing that. Our son’s room, at the front of the main building, was much bigger with a very large balcony and bigger bathroom. He had a partial sea view, but wouldn’t have been at all happy if we had asked him to ‘swap’!

The food both in the buffet dining room, where there was always a good choice of food, the pool, down at the beach bar and the speciality restaurants was very good. The all inclusive package for this is one of the best we have had.

The staff: There are some outstanding members of this team and a few younger members that need a bit more guidance and supervision, but everyone was always smiling and willing to help. Maria in the lobby bar was outstanding. She really knows how to mix a cocktail, but has also been doing the job several years and really understands what ‘good service’ means as does George one of the restaurant managers. Sylvia in the lobby bar, Harry one of the pool waiters, Evgenia in charge of the Contessa restaurant at lunch time, John in reception, young John in the lobby bar who is learning fast from Maria and making a fantastic bar man already. Akis in the buffet lounge, Jumbo and also Mike. I met Mike whilst exploring the gardens. He was running around delivering drinks to the bungalows and very appreciative that I said ‘hello’ and thanked him for all his hard work.

A trip to Danila Village forms part of the all inclusive package, which is an evening out with a buffet meal. This is like stepping back in time to a village from an 100 years ago. It was a wonderful experience and a chance to visit the small on site museum, chapel, bar and little tourist shops. The site is owned by Grecotel and such a great idea to let guests have this experience. Thank you.

We had a few minor issues during our stay, but senior management staff were constantly visible and very willing to discuss and resolve these things. It was great to feel appreciated as guests.

There really is a great vibe to this resort and one that is both relaxing, but has enough ‘get up and go’ as to not feel boring, so I highly recommend it.

We are looking to visit again next year even though we feel Grecotel needs to start updating the rooms. Please don’t let them get too old so that people stop wanting to visit you.

We stayed in Grecotel Eva Palace for our second 5 days of our holiday on Corfu. We were hesitating between Grecotel Eva Palace and next door Grecotel Corfu Imperial. The truth is that Grecotel Eva Palace has some age and it is visible on some feature but we booked Romantic villa with private pool and it was a great choise. The room was very large with terrace, pool in great size, large bed and really well size of bathroom with walkin shower and two basins. There was also small kitchenete as well as wash machine but we didn´t use it. The hotel has large main building and then many bungalows in garden connected with sidewalks and stairs. The beach is smaller some days with not enough sunbeds/sunchairs but the staff here is doing their best to accommodate all requests. So we had our sunbeds every day. There are also two pools with many sunbeds.
We stayed with all inclusive. The buffet was fine and there was always plenty of options. Just the A/C in the indoor part of main Mediterraneo restaurant not working properly and there was watter leaking from it to the floor. The La Contessa restaurant where we used to go for lunch had some A/C standing huge machines but again not suitable for the space. Luckily there is very nice outdoor seating. The chef is doing the best I would say. Our experience with the staff was only positive. They were professional but still friendly to give you a very comfortable feeling. So we just enjoyed the time. The downside is their small and quite old fitness room. Also housekeeping could refil the cosmetic items such as cotton pads, cotton buds on regular basis. There were some cats that really didn´t bother during dinner in outdoor part of the restaurants. So no issue for us that some guests mentioned. So would I say it is a luxury hotel....probably not but definitely the hotel has potential to make a bigger impression. But somehow and even now when I think about our days in Grecotel Eva Palace, my memories are still very very positive.
