Lovely stay
Had a lovely week here. Hotel is very nice and modern. The room was pleasant, we had paid to upgrade to a junior suite which we were told would have a pool view. It didn’t have a pool view unfortunately but didn’t let it bother us. The bathroom doesn’t have a door, just a shower door and separate toilet, the sink is in the open which we found odd. The toilet room is very small and warm. Shower was perfect. Our washing line on the balcony was broken which was super annoying as we had to dry towels on the chairs. The taverna can be quite noisy late at night, but not too bad. We had a big step in our room down from the wardrobe area to the sofa area, just be aware incase you have kids or mobility issues.
The maid made the bed everyday but never changed the sheets. She gave us clean towels everyday too but we had used glasses in the room all week which we thought would have been replaced. There was a bowl of fruit upon arrival, most of which we didn’t eat and it went completely mouldy in the bowl, don’t know how she didn’t notice it and remove it.
The pool is amazing, especially the modern one. Loads of sunbeds everyday and you can get fresh towels everyday. Umbrellas were great for a bit of shade. Also lots of tables and chairs to sit at in the sun or shade. The pool bar was great, loads to choose from and food was always nice.
We had breakfast everyday and it was nice, just the usual hotel buffet. Ate in the taverna once and it was nice but not our favourite. Heaven beach bar is a must.
The hotel is only a short walk to the beach. Loads of supermarkets around which are really close. Only thing I will say is that you have to cross a busy main road to get to them. There is a zebra crossing but it does seem a bit of a free for all, not great if you have kids. We actually did see a car crash into another one one evening.
Overall a great stay and would fully recommend.
Disappointing,it’s ok for Germans or smokers
Stayed here last week Very disappointing experience , Hotel is located about 20 minutes from airport in a very busy road , the area is quite run down and not very nice , even the beach is not nice , quite dirty
We did some trips and wish we have stayed on the other side of Heraklion near goves or malia
Our room was meant to be superior but over looked the road and was noisey , couldn’t have the doors open or sit on balcony we asked for another room but were told the hotel was full , I’m not sure how it could be a superior room
On out first morning we we awoken at 7 by loud banging and though it was someone bouncing / banging a ball in room above
However we were awoken on several other mornings by the same noise , some morning it started at 630 , over the weekend at 8 and went on for ages , couldn’t work out were it was coming from would appear to be coming from kitchen below our room or some sort of building work , again asked about this but was told nothing hotel could do about as full
On the weekend the pool got taken over by loads of local kids A family came into one in the pool rooms and then decided to blast music all afternoon and evening on the Friday We had to go back to our room to escape the noise
Stayed on breakfast basis , food is mundane , got same food the same every morning , rubber fried eggs , undercooked bacon and German sausages , although lots of youghirt and fruit available, seems to be more for German / Dutch guests
Bar is mega expensive £10 for a gin and tonic !! Only had one on first night and drank elsewhere Didn’t find the staff helpful or friendly at all
Pool is nice but it’s ok to smoke by it and it not very nice to sit / lay on sun beds with people smoking next to you , there was even a couple of girls who were sat on the steps of kiddie pool whilst vaping !! the front of hotel seems to be a smoking area where people sit on the wall and you leave reception to a fog of smoke
Overall very poor experience and would not recommend

Peaceful hotel, close to everything and near beach
We stayed at the Petsousis from the 1st August for 10 days bed and breakfast, we did request a change of rooms because we were at the front of the hotel on the main road and as we live on a main road we wanted quieter (not that it was massively busy but a preference). We were moved to the third floor (305) of the new building and that suited us better and the room layout was significantly better for our children 13 & 10 as they then had a sliding door between our bedrooms. The staff were second to none, the receptionist were so helpful and the bar staff couldn't have done more. Both pools were excellent and lifeguard on from 10-6 everyday except Wednesday I think. Pool towels were lovely and soft. My husband used the gym every day, it would benefit from a treadmill but otherwise excellent. We didn't use the spa We ate at the adjoining taverna a couple of times, the grill was ok but not our favourite and there definitely wasn't enough staff to cope with how busy they were. We chose to eat else where most of the time going to Heaven which is right on the sea front and covered all basis with food, especially pleasing our son with Sushi. Would also recommend Kooba, Hanzo (sushi restaurant) and 100% Murelo - this is a must for food it is really really excellent! The breakfast was really good, suitable for all European cuisine, the pastries were particularly excellent! We visited Knossos, it was definitely too hot to visit when we did, the children didn't cope well, this was part of a tour we took. Heraklion city is excellent for shopping and only a €14 taxi ride away.
I would definitely go back but hire a car and I have recommended Petsousis to our friends specifically requesting being in the new building.

Just come back from a five night stay and would have liked to stay longer if it would have been possible for us. Went as a family of 4 with two teenage girls. First of all I'd like to thank all the staff members as they try their best to help you throughout your stay, always making sure you are ok and are all very polite. We stayed in a suite which had really comfy beds ( even the sofa beds ) , a fridge, 2 TVs, a safe and a large shower which was nice and powerful, also had a big balcony with table and chairs. We stayed on a half board basis and the breakfast and evening meal were very nice and we always found things that we liked. Plenty of healthy options and full breakfast options. Only negatives about the breakfast was the sausages and the coffee machine but everything else was really good. The drinks from the two bars were good, think I was paying about €6 a pint. The two pools were also good, on arrival you are given little cards which allows you to get clean towels every day and then you get them back when you hand the dirty towels back, we never struggled to get sunbeds which is a big plus for us. The hotel is a short walk ( 2-3 mins ) to the beach where you will find an excellent bar/restaurant called Heaven, the food, drinks and the atmosphere here were fantastic, was paying €5 for a pint of Fix beer which is so nice. Also do the usual Mythos etc. There are also a few little supermarkets across the road which are very good for prices and are open very late. The waterpark transfer picked us up directly across the road from a little bus stop. The area itself felt really safe with a happy vibe. On our last day we were able to put our cases in the luggage room as we weren't flying til around midnight and had access to showers which were next to the little gym so spent the whole day around the pool. If you want a nice chilled relaxing holiday with friendly people around then definitely come here. We look forward to returning in the future. Thanks again to all the staff at petousis.
