Sergios Hotel

We stayed at Sergio’s Hotel for 7 days and, unfortunately, our overall experience was very disappointing.

Upon check-in, we were actually told by the reception team that they had already received several complaints that day. We were initially given room 301, which was extremely small, uncomfortable and very outdated. It genuinely felt more like a converted cleaning cupboard than a hotel room. We raised our concerns with reception, but were simply told that there was nothing they could do as the hotel was fully booked.

We then contacted our TUI advisor, who spoke with the hotel on our behalf, and we were moved to another room the following morning. Unfortunately, the new room was only slightly better and was still very dated and uncomfortable. We asked if we could move again, but were told this wasn’t possible because we had already been moved once.

The rooms and bathrooms were one of the biggest issues throughout our stay. The water was constantly cold, rather than this just being an occasional issue. When we complained, we were told that the water temperature was linked to the sun and therefore couldn’t be fixed, which was extremely frustrating.

The bathrooms themselves were also in very poor condition and desperately in need of updating. The showers were particularly bad — you had to stand completely still while showering because the water would spray in every direction, making it difficult to actually use the shower properly. Overall, the bathrooms were unpleasant and not what we expected from a hotel of this standard.

The bedding was another issue. The sheets were extremely thin and, when we asked for a duvet, we were told that the hotel doesn’t have duvets and only provides sheets. We also requested fresh towels and bedding during our stay, but were simply told that the cleaners would get to it “at some point.”

The Wi-Fi was also extremely poor, particularly for iPhone users. It barely worked for us throughout the stay, which was very frustrating when trying to use our phones or access anything online.

The reception staff were, unfortunately, one of the biggest disappointments. We found them to be extremely unwelcoming and unhelpful. We witnessed numerous other guests making complaints during our stay, as well as raising our own concerns, and there seemed to be very little willingness to actually help or resolve anything.

We also lost an item during our holiday and asked reception if they could contact the airport on our behalf, as they were able to communicate in Greek, but they refused to help.

The bar and restaurant service was also inconsistent. In the evenings, particularly when entertainment was taking place outside, it was often difficult to find staff as they seemed to disappear into corners.

There were, however, some positives. The food was genuinely delicious and, as vegetarians, we were pleasantly surprised by the amount of choice available each evening. The drinks included in the all-inclusive package were also enjoyable. However, we were disappointed that certain drinks, such as Pina Coladas, cost an additional €8 despite being on an all-inclusive package.

The waitresses and bar staff, particularly Luigi, were friendly, welcoming and always had a smile. The cleaners were also lovely, friendly and very efficient.

Unfortunately, the positives weren’t enough to outweigh the problems we experienced. The outdated and uncomfortable rooms, constantly cold water, poor bathrooms, unreliable Wi-Fi and lack of helpfulness from reception made the stay far more stressful and disappointing than it should have been.

We appreciate that things can go wrong during a holiday, but what made this particularly frustrating was the lack of effort to resolve the issues when they were raised.
