Overlooking the azure Aegean Sea, this family-friendly hotel is perfect for a holiday of sea and sun. The hotel is located in the small town of Lavris, just an hour outside of Heraklion with its excellent museums, historic old town and incredible ruins of Knossos. Guests might also explore Rethymno's narrow streets, fortress and lighthouse just 20 minutes' drive away. Alternatively, guests can stay at the hotel to enjoy swimming and soaking up the sun in its seven saltwater and freshwater pools and two private swimming coves. The comfortable guest rooms are bright and airy with sea or garden views, and guests can choose between the main, buffet-style restaurant with both local and international options and two specialty restaurants serving Italian and traditional Greek cuisine. The spa offers massage services as well as a sauna and hot tub, and the hotel has a children's and teen's club, all for a wonderful holiday in Crete.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
My family and I have been to this hotel a few times over the years but havent visited for 6 years. We got back last week. The updates in the hotel were amazing on the whole and the place certainly looked more swanky than before. Sadly the bed upgrades (large mattress) caused real problems for my disabled dad on arrival, which was a real shame and unexpected. Theodore the bell boy came to our rescue and god love that young man. He stayed with us and at the early hours of the morning helped me to re arrange my dads room to utilise the pull out sofa so he could transition from his chair. His service was above and beyond and we were so greateful for his 'can do' attitude and problem solving approach to everything with a smile on his face. Given he was the first person we met on arrival he certainly set a wonderful tone and our kids shouted his name every time we saw him driving around. Of course, a large part of our return was the lovely Macaroni Tony. Having met him 6 years ago and enjoyed every return to the hotel it was like being met by a family member with a warm embrace and a genuine interest in how life was going for us all. His genuiness is authentic and electric he is not only hilarious to talk to and watch on stage but he genuinely cares. People stop him all over the hotel and you can see he remembers names of those he interacts with and cares how people are. We also enjoyed meeting some of the new entertainment staff like Bobby, Stacey and Anna. All of them energetic, encouraging engagement in activities. Stacey was a warm smile on an already hot day always stopped to chat to my family by the pool as she went past. Returning to this hotel was ob the whole lovely and seeing the old faces of famaliar (and new) people with the same wonderful attitude was just perfect.
There were certainly some downsides and things to improve on. Reception staff claimed we hadnt paid full tax on arrival until bank statements proved otherwise making an already sad check out an angry and frustrating one. Despite the difficulties with my dads bed situation we were not offered any compensation. We asked for a late check out for 1 room for 12 of us to use which we were additionally charged for. Access was not given until 2pm and we had to be out by 6pm (90 euros) quickest shower and dress set up ever....stressful. Cleaners were angry at us with the situation and yelled at us when dropping bags in the room. The swim up pool bar staff may need a little pick me up they seemed very unhappy to be at work. Essentially made us feel guilty asking for a drink like we were putting them out. We often were given the wrong drinks and ended up using the restaurant and italian bars instead for ease, much friendlier in there.
This hotel is lovley the views are stunning staff are amazing they were so professional . The restaurant food is gorgeous make sure you book it’s worth it .
Everything was spectacular, stuff was amazing, therapist itself was professional RS really helped me relax and I felt so much better after a massage.
During our stay, the entertainment team was, unfortunately, one of the most disappointing aspects of the hotel. In our experience. The interactions with guests felt insincere and overly persistent rather than warm and welcoming.
My family and I came to this hotel to relax. However, on an almost daily basis, members of the entertainment team approached us by the pool and repeatedly attempted to engage us in conversation, even when it was evident that we wished to enjoy our time in peace.
One particular incident was especially disappointing. While my brother, who was unwell, and I were having a meal in the restaurant, an entertainer named Anastasia repeatedly approached us and insisted on offering assistance. Although I appreciate that staff members are expected to be attentive, her approach felt intrusive and was not handled in a courteous or professional manner.
For these reasons, I am rating my stay 3 out of 5 stars. The hotel’s facilities were satisfactory; however, the attitude and conduct of the entertainment team had a significant negative impact on our overall experience. Hospitality is not only about the property itself but also about making guests feel comfortable and respected, and unfortunately, this was not our experience.
Location is great. My wellness lady RS did a great job. I visited the spa 3 times and she took good care of me with 3 different types of massage. It relieved the pain, relaxed my body and gave me energy back.
