First, I would like to start with the positive aspects of our stay.

The hotel and its surroundings are very nice, clean, and well maintained. It is located close to the city centre, yet we did not hear any noise, even during busy party nights.

The hotel has two swimming pools and one paddling pool for children. The main pool is located between the hotel and the beach, which is only a short walk away. Sun loungers and parasols on the beach are available free of charge.

The food selection was excellent, and the all-inclusive bars in the lobby, by the pool, and on the beach were very convenient. The names of the dishes were displayed in three languages. However, allergens were not listed on the labels, which could be a small area for improvement. On the other hand, there was information stating that guests with allergies could ask the staff for assistance.

I particularly appreciated that most of the information was available in several languages commonly spoken by the hotel’s guests, including English, German, Czech, and others.

There are many activities available, such as mini-golf, billiards, volleyball, and more. Some activities are organised by the animation team according to a schedule, including fitness sessions, aqua aerobics, theatre performances, and other programmes. Other activities are more spontaneous. Around the pool, the animation team regularly announces the games that are about to begin, and anyone can join.

The hotel also offers paid services, including car rental, photo sessions, and massages. We booked a sunset photo session for couples and also tried the massages. The massage staff offered us a short complimentary sample, and after such a fantastic experience, it was difficult to say no to a full treatment.

We booked two couples’ Greek relaxing massages, meaning four massages in total, all provided by the wonderful Eva and Elaine. They were both excellent.

From this perspective, the hotel was almost perfect. The only negative point I originally planned to mention was the children’s play area next to the main pool. The slide and swing are exposed to direct sunlight for most of the day, so the equipment and the surrounding area can become very hot.

Unfortunately, there was also a much more serious issue, which I still hope will be resolved differently.

In our hotel room, there was a glass table with a single central leg, and the glass top was attached to it with a screw. On the first morning of our stay, we placed a mobile phone on the table. However, the glass top was apparently not properly secured and seemed to be holding on by only the last thread of the screw.

As soon as we placed the phone on the table, the entire glass top, together with the screw attached to it, fell to the floor and shattered. It came very close to cutting our two-year-old child.

Fortunately, nobody was injured. We remained calm and immediately informed the hotel staff that the table had already been faulty. Staff later came to clean the room, which was full of broken glass.

When we checked out, we were told that we had to pay an €80 charge for the damage. Even the receptionist appeared surprised that we had not been informed about this earlier. However, we were told that it was the manager’s decision, that nothing could be done, and that the amount had to be paid in cash.

As we needed to catch our transfer to the airport, there was no time to discuss or dispute the charge properly. We also did not have enough cash left on our final day, so the hotel eventually allowed us to pay by card.

We found it very disturbing that we had not been informed about the charge in advance, even by a written notice delivered to our room. This would at least have given us an opportunity to discuss the matter with hotel management.

This was particularly disappointing because we had explained immediately after the incident that the accident had occurred because the table was already faulty and the glass top had not been properly secured.

After leaving the hotel, we were told that the best course of action would be to contact our insurance company.

This glass table incident is the only reason I deducted two stars from my review. I do not believe this was an appropriate procedure for a four-star hotel, especially when a child’s safety was put at serious risk because of defective furniture.

I still hope that the hotel will reconsider how this issue was handled. It is possible that important information was lost between the reception staff and management, as the damage was clearly not caused by us.

Brikena was amazing. I even fell asleep.
