Perfect for families

We had a great week including the courtesy of the staff upgrading us to a bungalow with pool. The hotel has many facilities for adults and childresn and staff is extremely helpful and hard working. They deserve more praise than the get. Thank you for making our holiday a great experience. Please add the padwl court ASAP

Disappointing experience

⭐ Disappointing experience – certainly not what we expected from a 5-star luxury resort

Unfortunately, our stay at Ammoa Luxury Hotel Resort did not meet the standards we expected from a property marketed as a five-star luxury resort, particularly considering the very high prices.

The problems started from the moment we arrived. After a three-hour journey with our two-month-old baby, we expected a warm and professional welcome. Instead, we were immediately asked to settle the remaining balance, despite having already paid part of our stay in advance. There was no welcome drink or gesture of hospitality; the priority seemed to be collecting the payment before allowing us to go to our room. Our baby eventually became distressed and started crying while we were still trying to resolve the situation at reception.

I specifically explained that I needed an invoice and wanted to transfer the payment from my business bank account. The staff member dealing with us told me that this was not possible and insisted that I had to pay immediately by card. As a result, I was forced to use a personal card that was not linked to my business account, meaning I could not handle the invoice as intended.

What made this particularly frustrating was that when I spoke to the manager the following day, she confirmed that I could indeed have transferred the money from my business account and did not have to pay by card. In other words, the entire situation could have been avoided if the reception staff had been properly informed about the hotel’s own payment procedures. For a five-star property, front-desk staff should be able to provide accurate information about something as basic as payments and invoicing.

Another disappointing point concerned the hotel’s supposed family-friendly character. We were informed that because we had our two-month-old baby with us, we were not allowed to use the indoor pool after 1 p.m. What made this even more frustrating was that the indoor pool area was completely empty at the time. While we understand that hotels may have policies regarding children and spa or wellness areas, this felt unnecessarily inflexible for a resort that presents itself as family-friendly. When travelling with a baby, some degree of flexibility and understanding makes an enormous difference, particularly when there are no other guests using the facility.

Housekeeping was another disappointment. Because we were travelling with a very young baby, we politely asked for the room to be cleaned at a particular time to accommodate her sleeping schedule. The response we received felt unnecessarily unfriendly. Basic toiletries were also not consistently replenished and we had to ask for them.

More concerningly, when we first arrived, some of the toiletries were already partially empty and appeared to have been used by previous guests rather than replaced. The toilet also did not appear to have been cleaned to an acceptable standard, and I ended up cleaning it myself. This is certainly not something a guest should have to do upon arriving at a five-star luxury hotel.

Service in general lacked the professionalism, warmth and attentiveness we expected. At times, we also felt that younger guests were not treated with the same level of consideration and respect one would expect from a high-end resort.

The food was another area where expectations were not met. It was generally average, and many of the ingredients and dishes felt quite basic for a hotel positioning itself at this level. We expected more premium or distinctive ingredients and greater creativity—items such as truffle products, porcini mushrooms or other high-end touches would have made the dining experience feel much more appropriate for a luxury resort. Some of the desserts, however, were genuinely very good and were among the highlights of the food experience.

Overall, the biggest issue was the considerable gap between the luxury positioning and pricing of the resort and the actual level of service we experienced. Beautiful surroundings and high prices alone do not create a five-star experience. Five-star hospitality is about knowledgeable and well-trained staff, impeccable cleanliness, attention to detail, flexibility and, above all, making guests feel genuinely welcomed and cared for from the moment they arrive.

Unfortunately, our experience felt much closer to an ordinary three-star hotel with mediocre service, but at exceptionally high prices. Considering the amount we paid and the expectations created by the hotel’s five-star luxury branding, we expected considerably better.

For us, the experience simply did not justify the price or the five-star designation.

Fantastic experience

The location is extremely convenient. Five minutes drive from Nikiti yet away from the chaos and noise. The facilities are stunning, thought with care and elegance, fitting perfectly in the landscape. The green roofs on the bungalows show the level of attention to the environment. The room we had is a very large upper floor bungalow room with side seating view. Spotless clean with a large jacuzzi in the bathroom. Beds are super comfy and the linen is of very high quality. Room temperature easy to manage. We had an amazing balcony with a stunning view- I wouldn’t have called it side seating view as the bay is totally visible. The personnel is going above and beyond to please you. We celebrated our youngest son’s birthday. I booked the adjacent restaurant for lunch and the waiters came singing happy birthday with a candle on the dessert while the reception sent us a cake to the room. We stayed a week and we had half board, the food is served as a buffet. The quality of the food is very high, different dishes every day with very good vegetarian options. The beach area is well kept, water is clean and the service is good. I found the pool bar prices a bit steep same for the drinks at the restaurant- they are not included ( a bottle of 1 l water is 4€, a small coke is 4.5€). On a positive note, they provide you with complementary water in the room. Overall I highly recommend staying here if you want to be pampered, see stunning sunsets, swim in clear waters, enjoy yummy food and have an amazing holiday.
