Amazing hotel with incredible staff!

Wow! Where do I begin? We spent 10 days in this beautiful hotel. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous and has stunning views. However, the thing that made this place so special is the incredible staff! They were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. They made our holiday so special and can’t thank them enough! The restaurant also needs mentioning, as the food at the hotel is delicious! Every meal we had was incredible (and we had a lot because it was so good). Another positive was the pool area. It was so peaceful and we never had trouble getting a bed. Our room, 401, was really spacious, although I appreciate this may vary depending which room you’re in. I would recommend visiting the north of the island as Lassi was a little touristy. However, this would not stop us returning to this beautiful, tranquil hotel. We can’t wait to return and would absolutely recommend this hotel! Thank you again to the amazing team at Thalassa! You made our stay so memorable.

Great

Excellent stay - We stayed for 7 nights, and overall excellent. A couple of minor things that we felt could have been better, which I will touch on.

We regularly come to Kef and usually stay at white rocks, as we did in June - this was a last min unplanned trip, and we’d always wanted to try Thalassa - with WR fully booed and at short noticed, we were able to grab a last min room at Thalassa.

The hotel itself is tucked away on a quiet road, 7/10 mins walk from the main Kef strip where the restaurants sit - this was a massive plus as it’s hard to walk from WR to restaurants, and we’ve saved over €160 on cabs in that aspect alone!

Our room was nice, with excellent aircon, new TV that had all the apps - it was slightly a dated feel, but huge in comparison to most rooms in Kef - it by no means felt old, luxurious either - nice slippers, robe and bed though - it was sea view but in the corner, so while some rooms have excellent seaview, ours was small - the location however was perfect.

The main benefit of this room was its 15 seconds (yes seconds) to the pool and 25 seconds to the restaurant - that’s mega!

Both pools are beautiful, right in the centre surrounded by all rooms and the restaurant. Loads of sofas, beds, chairs and plenty of places to rest - it never felt busy, even though it was - I’ve also never been to a pool that had so few people by the beds early - it was very easy going and respectful, but you could move about all day, in and out both pools and it really added to the trip!

Food - major plus and me and my wife agreed, a step up on the white rocks - the food was excellent and well priced - lots of options, we also done the BBQ night which was well worth it - Marios was very nice each day, and usually severed us at least once, always smiling. Another lady was nice too, although didn’t catch her name.

Drinks are pricey, a bottle of mythos being €6, but I also get that hotels need to make money - cocktails at happy hour were good!

The cleaners work hard and even came back into room when people are out at night to leave chocolates on pillow, tucking in the bed and leaving water by the bedside too!

Cats - 3 or 4 around the hotel, we gave them slices of ham if we se them, lots of people stroking them and happy - a few people was irritated at dinner and I get that, but they didn’t cause anyone any harm and they literally live around the hotel!

Simba is the hotel dog, a really nice boy whos sometimes in reception, Say hello.

Breakfast, the ladies are so polite and nothing is too much, even stopped to chat with us and always smiling - the actual breakfast food was good/ok. My wife wasn’t a fan so I went on my own most of the time, but all the essentials - the ladies will also make you a lovely iced coffee!

Gym - small but works for holiday if that’s your thing - all bathrooms are clean and bottled water in the gym, again aircon great.

10 min walk to Costa Costa beach, nice and easy!

A few things we noticed - not all of the staff are as warm and smiley as others - no1 was rude, but if paying £2k for a week B&B, I thought the staff might be more attentive - they do bring drinks to beds, if you go to the bar and order - but never seem to go and offer to take orders around the pool - we felt this was strange, because was always 4 or 5 waiters standing at the bar - it wasn’t like one person over worked, the hotel has loads of staff - it just didn’t have the feeling of ‘wow’ (bar the breakfast ladies) when you spoke to people and this was even the same when we checked out, no1 asked how are stay was - we paid the bill and left - seems small, but that’s unique to us in Kefalonia.

As above, the pools are lovely, but main pool has about 150 very small broken tiles - these need fixing, more coming loose each day.

The above is picky, but that’s the point with a review, very minor things.

All in all, we thought it was excellent hotel, lovely food, good staff and near perfect location - the pools, rooms all being close proximity and a 7 min walk to lassi also made it a 5/5!

Thalassa Boutique Hotel July 2026

The hotel is located near a couple of beaches and off the main road. It is a beautiful hotel with a relaxing atmosphere. The friendly staff are keen to make your stay enjoyable and the food is delicious. The room was spacious and clean. It was well stocked with fresh toiletries, tea, coffee and water. There was always plenty of vacant space around the pool. We are looking forward to visiting this beautiful hotel again.

Chic, classy would not hesitate to return

Stunning, chic hotel. We had a lovely stay at the Thalassa. We stayed in a Garden view room - it was perfect. Fresh, clean, modern, minimalist look. Fresh towels every day, water replenished each day. Room had a fridge to store own drinks/ milk for tea/coffee. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was an ample array of hot, cold, sweet, savoury - everything you could need.
Since the hotel is bijou in size, it never felt busy, even though it was at full capacity. We got a sunbed by the pool every day, regardless of the time we arrived, whether it be 11 in the morning or 3 in the afternoon. Fresh pool towels are provided everyday, The pool was area was clean and tidy, with staff on hand to serve drinks and food to your side. Local amenities are just a short (10 min max) walk - supermarket, restaurants, bus stop , car hire etc. Beach a short 3 minute walk. There is a very large hotel being built right in front of the Thalassa, it looks intimidating when you arrive, but don't worry. It did not impact us. Being slightly above on the hill, the Thalassa is not significantly blocked by the new build. We didn't hear any building noise that offended us (the Cicadas drown anything out anyway, the sound of Kekalonia!) All in all, the hotel is exactly as pictured online, and would recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing, classy time away.
