Well, well, well... what can I say about this amazing hotel? From start to finish, our stay was absolutely fantastic.
We arrived late in the evening and received a warm welcome from the reception team. After checking in, we were taken to our room in a golf buggy along with our suitcases, which our little lad absolutely loved from the moment we arrived.
Our room was amazing. We stayed in a Family Room with Garden View, Balcony or Terrace, and an Interconnecting Room. It was spotlessly clean, had beautiful views of the gardens, and exceeded our expectations. The room was cleaned every day to a very high standard, and we even left a small gift for our cleaner as a thank you because it was so well deserved.
The hotel grounds are immaculate, with plenty of bins around for empty drinks, and the gardens, trees, and grass are beautifully maintained.
The main pool was excellent. I'm an early bird and was usually up by 7am, and I can honestly say I've never stayed at a hotel where the sunbeds weren't already reserved at that time! Even better, there were still plenty of sunbeds available at around 2pm. I think this is because many guests stay in the swim-up rooms or around their private pools, as well has having 4 other pools so lots of options, so the main pool never feels overcrowded.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all excellent. There was something for everyone, and although we stayed for 10 nights, the food selection changed regularly, so there was always plenty of variety. No matter what time we arrived, we could always find a table.
The beach and pool bar were fantastic. The beach itself was lovely, with soft sand, plenty of sunbeds, and sunsets that are simply breathtaking.
The real stars of the hotel, though, are the entertainment team. Amilio, Luis, and Marvin were absolutely brilliant and brought so much fun and energy to the hotel. Marvin's commentary during the daily water polo games was hilarious and genuinely made our day. We looked forward to listening to him and joining in every afternoon.
The local bus into Kos Town was easy to use, and we visited twice during our stay.
I only have two very minor points for improvement, and I'm being really picky. Firstly, I understand the hotel's efforts to be more environmentally friendly, but having a fresh bottle of water provided in the room each day would be appreciated. Secondly, the main evening bar could really do with a couple more staff members. It's a lovely bar, but with only two people serving, the queues could sometimes be quite long. These are only small suggestions that would make an already fantastic hotel even better.
Overall, I would rate this hotel 4+ stars. I genuinely can't understand some of the negative reviews because our experience over 10 days was exceptional. We had a wonderful holiday and are already looking at coming back next year.
I had a wonderful massage with Emily. She was professional, kind, and made me feel comfortable throughout the session. She was very skilled and knew exactly how to help me relax without me having to say much. I left feeling refreshed and much less tense. It was also a lovely surprise to find out that she’s from the Philippines like me, which made the experience feel even more special. I highly recommend Emily and will definitely be back.
Emit gave a wonderful massage! Exactly what I needed to relax and unwind. I would thoroughly recommend!
Massage was very good, Emily was attentive and responded to my requests for pressure and areas
We stayed at Akti Coast for one week in July as a family of four with a 12-year-old and a 2½-year-old, and overall we had a fantastic holiday.
We stayed in a family swim-up room, which was clean, spacious and tastefully decorated. It was ideal with a toddler, as it was in a quiet area and the swim-up pool had a non-slip surface around it, which was a really thoughtful touch. We also had no issues getting sunbeds around the pool during our stay.
The food was lovely throughout the week. We don't have any dietary requirements, and there was always something everyone enjoyed. The omelette station at breakfast was excellent, the kids loved the pancakes, and the gyros and ice cream quickly became favourites for the whole family. The drinks were perfectly fine too.
The staff were all friendly and worked incredibly hard. The reception team especially stood out. They were always warm, welcoming and happy to help with any questions we had.
The hotel itself is a little more secluded than we would usually choose. Tigaki is only around 10 minutes away by taxi and cost us €13 each way, but waiting times could vary from around 10 minutes to over an hour, so it's worth planning ahead if you want to explore.
The beach was beautiful. Clean, sandy and well looked after. We arrived later in the morning and couldn't find any free sunbeds, but we were perfectly happy relaxing on the sand beneath one of the large trees, which provided plenty of shade.
One thing we really appreciated was being able to arrange a late check-out, which made travelling home with a toddler so much easier.
We hired a beach buggy for a day and visited Kos Town and Zia for sunset. Both were well worth the trip and we'd definitely recommend exploring the island if you have the chance.
A special mention also goes to the birthday hamper the hotel arranged during our stay. It was a beautiful surprise and such a thoughtful gesture that made the occasion feel even more special.
The hotel facilities are excellent, especially for families with children. There was plenty to keep kids entertained. We didn't stay around for the evening entertainment, so can't really comment on that.
Overall, we had a wonderful family holiday. The friendly staff, great food, lovely facilities and family-friendly atmosphere made it a memorable stay, and we'd happily recommend Akti Coast to other families looking for a relaxing all-inclusive holiday in Kos.
