Rodos Princess Beach Hotel

Overall, I rate my hotel stay positively, though one issue still bothers me. I had booked a room with a sea view and a large double bed. On the first day, I was given a room that didn't match the offer I had paid for; the explanation at reception was embarrassing—claiming all rooms were full and suggesting we might be moved the next day. We did eventually get moved, but it still wasn't the specific room I had chosen. Still, it was an improvement: instead of a view of the tennis court, I had a view of a tree with glimpses of the sea on the sides—but certainly not the panoramic sea view described on the hotel website or shown in the photos. Furthermore, my terrace was practically adjacent to the hotel's cocktail bar terrace; every evening, I was subjected to the noise from that area. It was also awkward that guests standing on the bar terrace could look right at what I was doing on my own terrace—there was zero privacy and constant evening noise from the other guests. For me, this was a huge downside to the stay. I didn't raise any further complaints because I just wanted to start enjoying the experience. The hotel grounds and the beach were beautiful, and the staff at the specialty restaurants deserve high praise—especially Ms. Katherina from the Asian restaurant, who helped us choose excellent dishes despite language barriers. In fact, the entire staff deserves praise; they were always smiling and helpful. The food was sensational, with a wide selection, as were the drinks. Unfortunately, had it not been for the issue with not getting the room I booked—and having to listen to excuses about the hotel being fully booked—my rating would have been higher. As far as I’m concerned, it is unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber to practice overbooking and cram tourists into inferior rooms, banking on the hope that no one will object. The photos show an image from the hotel's listing and a sea-view room, as well as the rooms I actually received.

We visited for a week with a baby 9 months old and a nearly 3 year old.

Room - we stayed in a Family room sea view and it was snug but worked for us to have the partitions. We were given an upgrade to a suite when we arrived however this room didn’t suit us as there was no sea view and we didn’t like having the kiddos in a separate room. What I didn’t like is the baby cot. It’s all mesh so very stretchy but doesn’t have a proper mattress, it’s just 2 pillow with a sheet one. Baby did sleep in it but I was a little nervous.

Food - lovely food in the restaurant and beach bar. The snack bar wasn’t great, strange thing to comment on but the pizza there was rubbish but delicious in the beach bar. Great choice of salad, bread and meats. The kids section was very much the same every evening but throughout the day there is soooo much fruit for the kids.

Water - the water in the room isn’t safe for making baby bottles but the one in the local shop called Vikos means the requirements.

Disco - the disco is great and the entertainment team but in such good effort and interact with the children.

Lindos - do not bother with small kids. Toddler hated it, was super busy, hilly and or suitable for a pram.

Overall we really liked the holiday but wouldn’t rush back until the kids are older.
