Surrounded by palm and olive trees and a delightful garden area with four fountains, the attractive Golden Odyssey hotel complex comprises eight buildings on 25,000 m2, including a main building and various bungalows. It features a variety of excellent services and amenities such as a daily shuttle to one of the cleanest beaches of the island, which is about 950 m away. The centre of Kolymbia with numerous shops, restaurants, pubs and nightclubs can be reached within a short stroll. This hotel is ideal for guests wishing to spend a beach holiday in one of the nicest areas of Rhodes.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Dimitris is the best barman we have ever experienced on our travels. He is very kind and made our whole family feel very welcome from day 1. Everyone loves him here. He's the life and soul of the hotel. He made the hotel a 5 star experience.
We booked a week and should of booked longer. Kids loved the on site water park. The multiple pools and area of the hotel make it a place for anyone to enjoy whether its the quiet pool or the music and entertainment pool by the snack bar. One thing we did feel needed improvements was the entertainment team. The 2 members of the entertainment team looked like they didn't want to be there, not terribly enthusiastic for the entertainment. As long as you don't rely on the entertainment team for the kids, its the place for you. Rooms were very clean on arrival and cleaning staff did a decent job of cleaning. Pools were kept clean and tidy, Andrew the lifeguard was decent and seemed to enjoy his job. He does ensure kids are kept safe, especially the little ones. It is definitely value for money and the location is perfect with the free shuttle bus (5 mins to the local beach). The bus also stops in the local town if you needed to browse or buy bits.
So im writing this for those who like me were concerned reading all the reviews regarding the Golden Odyssey Hotel.
So I start we are a family of 5, children aged 16,14 and 11. As many who booked and read reviews as we arrived in Rhodes we travelled very worried about what to expect.
Firstly, arriving at the hotel we were pleasantly surprised, clean and beautiful reception area. Arriving late at night welcomed like we had been before. We were checked in and the layout of the hotel explained along with all information for meals, drinks etc.
Walking through the hotel grounds at night to our room place looks great at night 3 pools, slides we become excited to wake up the next Morning. Arriving at our room the superior family room, was spacious, clean and had all we needed including Aircon, fridge and massive shower bathroom. The room was perfect for us all and had zero complaints what so ever. Cleaned daily and fresh towels upon request.
As our first day started we had no problem finding sun beds and this continued throughout our stay always in perfect places for sun and pool access.
Now let's talk food, we'll we had checked every option available too us, breakfast, lunch and evening meal and every single meal was great. Lots and lots of variety and all cooked beautifully with evening meals having different specials each evening. There is also a snack bar during the day which had continuous amounts of food from chips, nuggets, burgers, watermelon, pasta among some to mention. There is also ice cream served from 2pm which kids enjoyed on many occasions. Overall the food in this place was amazing for an all inclusive, I have tried others and this knocks spots of ones ive used in Spain.
Drinks were served daily with a help yourself pumps and drinks dispensers just keep going to top up. Cups on small side but wasn't an issue just get as many as you can carry. Kids had ample choices too all soft drinks can think off.
All the pools were beautifully kept and in perfect locations for sun and shade depending what you prefer. Cleaned every morning and plenty space for everyone to enjoy. They also have an area with some great slides which my kids spent all the days on, some fast and some twister they truly great fun.
Now for night time entertainment, starting with the mini disco with all the songs you know and to join into was great for the little ones, which would then be followed by something else from, bingo, quizzes, karaoke and a Greek night. The Greek night was amazing had everyone involved and we all throughly enjoyed. Again drinks all served on tap with additional of select cocktails made by the amazing bar staff. You can also visit the main man Dimitri for paid cocktails and drinks were all made absolutely perfectly and not overly priced either. We had some great nights and so did the kids with small arcade and pool tables surely plenty to enjoy. Visiting the bar is a must Dimitri is great guy and made us feel like family from night one.
The staff were all very helpful and welcoming towards us all and making extra attention to kids very lovely people. We requested a late check out, unfortunately our room was needed but offered us a double room for few hours at low price so we could all change for our flight home.
Kolymbia town is a 15/20min walk away or a 5mins taxi ride, where can find plenty shops and places to eat and drink. The beach is also a 25min walk away which was a lovely cove where can dip and enjoy sun next too the ocean.
Overall, dont be put off what you read. I was to start but I was pleasantly surprised, this place turned out to be one of best holidays to date. Unless your like some of these reviews on here you will have an amazing time it has everything you need.
Massive shout out and thankyou too Dimitri, what a guy get to know him and he will look after you.
Firstly we was a family got abit anxious coming here going off the negative reviews from here.. but learnt not to listen after our holiday to golden odyssey
We got to the hotel about 7pm friday night after a long day travelling from gatwick with a 1 and 5 year old.. probably didnt get off on the right foot as even after a rapid check in we was given the wrong style of room because I paid for a swim up room but they said stay the night here and first thing in the morning come back and we will change rooms, which was fine as not going to use pool late at night.. first thing in the morning that was sorted and moved to room 807 right in front of the quiet pool with a room with double bed, 3 singled and a baby cot so no complaints there. Receptionists are friendly, one gives you monsters inc receptionist vibes but take her with pinch of salt.
The amenties of the hotel are reasonbly decent stuff to do and pools to go by if you like a quiet pool there is one, if you like a main pool by the snack bar with animation team there is one then also another quite crowded pool with the splash park right next to it so got a choice. Only thing about the pools not sure what there cleaned with as they stain the sides of the pool and any light coloured clothes but didn't bother us
Food suprised me as going off the reviews I was expecting food miles below par but breakfast always had the right things to eat, didnt do lunch so cant judge but dinner time was always decent had plenty of choice with all different meaty meals and plenty of carby stuff.. big shoutout to the restaurant crew as their super friendly and on the ball.
At nighttime the entertainment wasnt the best but we had a laugh by it and the children enjoyed the kids disco so all we was bothered about on that front. Kids arcade below it with stuff to do for them.
The shop on site is very overpriced.. €38 for a kids ring, no thanks I walked 5 minutes up the road when your turn right outside hotel to a little family run shop where the lady was super friendly and the prices of snacks and toys/floats were cheap. So everyday I invested my time and money to there.
20 minute walk to kolympia strip which we didnt really know what was there until last night but wish we went sooner as looks decent. We went to faliraki one night before as didnt give it a chance before.
Personally I went on a 5am walk up mt tsambika to the historic monastery and loved every second of it. Nice walk up a roady hill with some history up the top and lit a candle there after marching up the 300 steps before. Loved that. From the top i got a better view and noticed a really good golden sands clear sea beach down below called tsambika beach.. best day we had. More pricey that the hotels beach but worth every penny. €40 for a bed all day, €30 for the kids water park for me and my eldest then got 3/4 restaurants for your lunch time meals which are very nice. Also a nudist beach at the most southern point of the beach if thats your thing. Hotels beach is fine but stoney, shuttle every hour and half for free so thats okay, €10 for beds all day which is cheap, cheap water sports aswell so worth that also.
Nature is a thing as the hotel but we love the little creatures, plenty of locusts, crickets, spiders and ovbiously the geckos with a bit of noise but gives you that abroad feeling.
People might look as this review and thing why the 5 stars and not overly raved about it but I compare it with what I paid for it and deffo not my monies worth so thank you Golden Oydessy and thank you Rhodes I will deffo be back 🙌
The hotel is amazing! All the staff are so nice, kind, happy and always smiling! Very helpful and always on the go! Dimitris is a very kind man! Very helpful and always smiling and happy 100% recommended! The drinks and food is so good! Kids love it here first time all inclusive and in Greece 🙂
