Castellum Suites

Behalf of friend Andreas Andreou from Cyprus I stayed at this hotel from 28 August to 1 September, booking a suite on the fifth floor with a pool view because I expected a comfortable stay and professional service. Unfortunately, the experience was completely unacceptable. When we arrived in our room, we went onto the balcony, where we witnessed a man on the third floor openly masturbating while looking towards the pool area. I took photographs and immediately went to reception to report the incident. I explained that my wife and I should be able to use the pool without being exposed to such inappropriate behaviour. The reception staff assured me that they would handle the matter, but nothing was done. What made the situation even worse was that our complaint was discussed by members of staff throughout the hotel, including in the restaurant. This was extremely unprofessional and made us feel embarrassed and uncomfortable. The following morning, while we were having breakfast, a waiter rudely confronted my wife because she answered a phone call from her seriously ill mother. When I asked what the problem was, the waiter responded aggressively, saying, “You can go and make your complaint everywhere you want. This is how I speak and this is how I decide.” This level of arrogance and disrespect was completely unacceptable. Because of the staff’s behaviour and the hotel’s failure to deal with a serious complaint, I decided to check out immediately. I strongly advise people to think carefully before booking this hotel. The poor handling of complaints, lack of professionalism, breach of privacy, and disrespectful attitude of the staff ruined our holiday completely. This was, without question, the worst hotel experience I have ever had.

Great friendly hotel, all the staff were amazing, from room cleaner to manager can’t fault any of them. Food choices like all all inclusive were limited but good and tasty.

Pool area was a bit small but we knew that before booking, the hotel does give you pool towels, €10 deposit and exchange for free. The only complaint i have was the evening set up, you couldn’t sit outside. The bar was small and very hot, with a lack of atmosphere. I can only guess it was because of licensing laws as there is residential houses very close to the pool area.

There isn’t much in the local area, a shop 1 min up the road, a barber and a few coffee shops. It’s a 10 min walk to the old town and the reason we booked the here but unfortunately I hurt myself before going and am having to use crutches.

We couldn’t get a late check out but they have a shower room which we booked, it was used immediately before we were due to use and the cleaner went in before we got to use. Very clean and plenty of room.

The only reason I didn’t give a 5* review is purely down to the evening set up, I come from Scotland and love to sit out on a warm evening, if we didn’t go out we went and sat on out balcony.
