Not a four-star hotel — more like a three-star.

Having read other reviews, we were aware that the hotel tells guests the tourist tax must be paid in cash. This is not the case as we have previously paid the tourist tax by card at other hotels in Greece and we visit yearly.

Only one key card is provided per room. We should be treated like adults, not children. Having to return to a hot room after being outside in 32-degree heat is not pleasant.

The swimming pool was the biggest disappointment. The water turned our bikinis yellow. The manager insisted this was because people do not wash off their sun cream before entering the pool. This has never happened to us at any other hotel, so surely there must be an issue with either the chemical levels in the water or possibly colour discolouration from old pipework. Another guest we spoke to said that her hair had started turning green. Even the netting on our lilos were turning a shade of yellow. Very unpleasant and this needs to be looked into.

Only being able to change your towel every third day is ridiculous, especially after spending all day in the sun and sweating.

The buffet breakfast was OK at best. The food we purchased for lunch, however, was good.

The location is good, being close to the centre of Tsilivi and within easy reach of grocery shops.

The bedroom we were allocated was nice, although the fridge could have been colder.

Some of the sunbeds on the grass area look old and tatty and are in need of replacement. The sunbeds around the pool were comfortable. It was just a shame that the umbrellas are static and cannot be moved to provide shade when needed.

Unfortunately, the overall attitude of some of the staff also left a lot to be desired. The receptionist who checked us in seemed unhappy, and the manager came across as rather miserable.

Overall, there were some positives, particularly the location, room and lunch, but for a hotel advertised as four-star, we expected a much higher standard and better service.

We had an excellent room (executive suite) which overlooked the road. The staff were very kind and polite. The breakfast had good choices and was very good. All in all we would certainly return to this hotel.

Stayed at this hotel at the end of August and would not rate this hotel as 4*. I had read a lot of the reviews about this hotel, before our stay and I have to agree that this hotel doesn’t pride its self in delivering a good experience. Firstly, we were greeted my The Manager and asked for the cash payment for the tourist tax. We were prepared for this as it had been mentioned in many reviews that card payments were not accepted. We were able to check in early to our room, which was a nice room overlooking the pool. The hotel is modern and very clean. The location is about a ten minute walk to the main town, where there are loads of bars & restaurants and the lovely beach is about a twenty five minute walk. There is a Supermarket and bus stop to Zakynthos Town, less than five minutes from the hotel. The pool at the hotel was nice, but if you want a sunbed you need to put a towel down very early in the morning. We looked out of our balcony at 9AM most mornings and there were no sunbeds left, so we spent most of the week at the beach. There is a sign to say towels will be removed if sunbeds are not used, but this doesn’t seem to happen. Also some of the sunbeds on the grass area are old looking and not very clean. There is plenty of choice at breakfast, although the cooked breakfast is lukewarm and the fruit is from a tin or has been sliced thinly and was brown. The staff at the hotel were not friendly and nobody smiled or said “ good morning.” You are only given one key to your room, so each time you leave your room the air conditioning goes off and the fridge doesn’t stay cold. When temperatures were 38C you really needed to come back to a cool room. We asked for a second key, but were told it was not the Hotel’s policy to give another key. We felt that the reason for this was to cut costs, so therefore we went out each evening and left the key in the room to keep the AC on. This meant the night staff had to let us into our room each night. The AC unit is situated outside on your balcony, so if you want to sit outside you have warm air blowing on you, which is not ideal. Bottled water is not supplied in your room & if you are celebrating a special occasion, whilst on holiday, don’t expect anything from the hotel. It was my Husband’s birthday whilst we were away & when we returned back to our room his birthday cards were put down into a pile. Also pool towels can only be changed every third day, so they can get quite sandy if you are using them at the beach. This hotel could have the potential to be so much better, as it is a small quiet adult only hotel, with good location. If only Management were to act on some of these poor views, instead of replying with “ best to stay somewhere else next time,” which I saw was a response to a recent honest review.
