The luxurious Grand Hotel overlooks the beautiful Mgarr harbour on the stunning little Maltese island of Gozo. The harbour displays a picturesque selection of colourful fishing boats and from the hotel; the views of the Mediterranean and across the Gozo channel are truly magnificent. This is an ideal place to get away from it all and relax, especially at sundown sipping a cocktail in the rooftop bar and restaurant.
Gozo is a small island and the Grand Hotel is a perfect base for your Maltese holiday. For many of us, getting away from the hustle and bustle of day to day living is exactly what a holiday is for. When you arrive at the Grand Hotel, you'll find this is just the right place to do that in comfort.
Gozo is much smaller than the Maltese mainland and has retained a charming sense of timelessness all its own. The Grand Hotel is located right in the harbour, a perfect place for an evening stroll to take in the sights, colours and sounds of seaside life as the sun goes down.
The Grand Hotel really does live up to its name. From the outside, the façade is impressive and the pool affords a lovely view across the water as you swim. Inside, the hotel is of a high standard with well furnished rooms and tasteful décor. All rooms are en suite, some rooms feature a walk-in shower, but most offer a bathtub. All rooms have air conditioning and heating to ensure your comfort, whatever time of year you choose to visit. Rooms are also equipped with satellite TV, mini bar, tea/coffee making facilities, Wi-Fi, direct dial telephone and hairdryer. If you really want to make the most of this wonderful location, seaview and superior rooms are available at a supplement – just ask when you book.
The views are also fantastic from the restaurant and bar which you'll find on the rooftop of the hotel. Just imagine yourself enjoying an aperitif, whilst gazing out across the harbour and looking forward to a delicious evening meal. This is what holidays at the Grand Hotel are all about. And you'll be well looked after for the duration of your stay. The Maltese are always pleased to welcome UK visitors and here is no different.

Update - After writing my review on Trip Advisor and receiving a new room, I was asked by the management to delete my review. I replied that I would consider it, as everything I wrote was true and I attached photos. Therefore, I'm writing an update - as for the hotel itself, the cleanliness deserves a one-star rating. The dripping air conditioning, which is spewing black water and mold, and the white paint dripping directly onto the food are unacceptable. The balcony was swept once, not to mention the smudged glass on the balcony windows. If I hadn't gotten up from my chair, I wouldn't have seen the beautiful view from the balcony. Yes, we did get a new room, but with the receptionist (manager) suggesting that room 553 was of a better standard (seriously?) but that we didn't have to pay extra for it (I think that's a joke). We feel that, as guests, we shouldn't have heard something like this, because it wasn't our fault that we were treated so poorly from the start. The staff tried their best, asking every day how we were feeling and if everything was okay. The ladies at the front desk were wonderful, they really tried to do everything to make us feel better. The night receptionist was wonderful, kind, helpful, and simply professional. The bar waiters were very kind. Our dinner on the ninth floor was wonderful. The waiters and chefs were of the highest caliber (we're used to this kind of culture—thank you very much). We've stayed in various hotels around the world, of varying standards. We've also stayed in luxury hotels. We're used to guests being taken care of. Everywhere, free water with lemon and a smile was available near the reception desk. In countries with temperatures this high, this is how it should be. I must admit that in a 4-star hotel elsewhere, for a lower price, we had more amenities. The walls/air conditioning weren't falling off, and the sheets were changed daily; here, we had to ask for them. Hotels of the same standard, such as those in Spain, Greece, or Portugal, offer additional activities for children, many more attractions, concerts, and leaflets at the reception about what to see and what is recommended in each country. Restaurant opening hours are inconvenient, as guests arriving at night have no opportunity to eat and are left hungry (our experience). The BoltFood app is also recommended, but not everyone can install it on their phone. I'd like to thank the staff, who did everything they could to make us feel comfortable. They deserve praise and the highest recognition. The management/owner should consider how to rectify all the issues, as we've seen far more negative reviews of the hotel on TripAdvisor than just ours. Guests at the pool also discussed the hotel's standard and the need for compensation because they weren't satisfied. Such inconveniences discourage repeat visits. After all, every business wants to make money and should encourage guests to return. Best regards.
Terrible experience. The room was dirty. The AC was moldy and dripping water onto our food and table, when they came to clean it they wiped it down with a cloth that made it drip even more with water and white paint. The shower dripped water from the ceiling, and there was hair on the wall when we arrived. The outside swimming pool had a nice view but was extremely dirty and had mold and filth on the tiles, and so did the jacuzzi. The room was filled with red ants that bit us. The cleaners didn't change the bedsheets or towels until we asked them to. The swimming pool closed at 7pm and the housekeeping service started to take down people's umbrellas and tanning chairs, when we put them back up he took it down again at 6pm, which is ridiculous since we still had an hour left. The receptionists were really nice, but the communication was terrible. We had asked for a laundry bag to wash our clothas in their whashing machine, but we never received it. The hotel overall doesn't deserve a four star rating what so ever. The tv didn't work and we even had trouble with the internet which was really weak. The balcony is ABSOLUTELY FILTHY, filled with dust, ants handprints on the glass, and sticky chairs. We travel a lot all over the world, and we've never seen a "four star" hotel held and maintained so horribly. Regarding taxi from the airport to gozo be careful and don't pay 150 euros for travel with ferry they scammed us and the ferry itself costs 22 euros for three people and the taxi only drives for ten to twenty minutes from Valletta and about a minute from the ferry to any hotel in gozo since it's a tiny island. The taxi drove about 21 minutes all overall, got with us on the ferry, and charged 150 euro. My advise is go somewhere else that's actually worth your money.
Amazing hotel! Beautiful location. Staff couldn’t do enough for us, especially Majda who was so kind to my daughter, she wasn’t able to say goodbye as unfortunately Majda had to go home due to being unwell, but hopefully we will be back and my daughter can see her again! Wouldn’t hesitate in staying here again! Absolutely amazing 10 days spent in paradise
Got there early but couldn't check in until 3. Had some time round the pool, after almost getting knocked down by a selfish guest to get the last of the sunbed I was inches away from I resorted to sitting on the floor in the scorching heat, bearing in mind 70% of the beds were just fashioning a towel and no person it was rather annoying. I sat in the bar area where the staff were quite rude and not friendly at all. By the time i made it to my room which took a while cause of the anount of lifts there are scattered all over the hotel. I areived to what was an extremely old and worn room, not inviting at all. Not worth the money of €170 per night without breakfast. The views were stunning though, that i cannot fault but overall the hotel is a maze, needa a refurbished, friendlier staff, a sunbed policy and also get better sound proof walls as someone was having very loud sex next door to mez that was very unsettling. All in all. Wouldn't go back in a hurry.
We were a bit sceptical about arriving after reviews but hotel clean and tidy beautiful pool with amazing views. Rooms cleaned everyday fresh towels yes the decor a bit dated but doesn’t affect your stay bathroom bit shabby but clean. The food and drinks to hotel pool is great and the young lads who bring you it our greats special mention to Marvin polite and manners of a gentleman. No shops but enough restaurants around can get bus to Victoria at bottom of hill the 301 also recommend getting Gozo fast ferry across to Valletta. Overall we had a really pleasant stay see would come back again very relaxed holiday
