Balcony? Really??
Although the hotel was lovely, we cannot believe the balcony we got in room 1311 - it was basically shared and faced a wall - we were so disappointed as we were looking forward to relaxing with a view in the evening - this simply was impossible. It was also shared with smokers which didnt help! I now know why jet2 holidays did not include pictures of this area of the room when booking . Beware!!

Lovely hotel in peaceful location
Fabulous 10 stay here. My accommodation was a lovely big room with a small balcony. The housekeeping was spot on with clean towels almost every day. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were lovely, buffet style with everything you could possibly want - very relaxed and unrushed. The swimming pool terrace on the top floor did get very busy. I didn't go up there often, but perfect for a dip later in the day. The location is north of the island and much quieter then Sliema/Villetta areas. However, there is an amazing bus service just a few mins walk away with lots of buses for exploring the island. Also, there are quite a few lovely beaches in the north, including Millieha bay which is about 30 min walk or a short bus ride. Travelling solo I loved the peaceful location and travelled anywhere and everywhere with a 7 day bus pass.

Great Location Amazing Sports massage
Relaxing Infinity pool with great view ! Clean rooms with daily.
Did a sport massage with Lucas in the spa section and honestly haven't felt better since a long time 💪🏻

What a great choice of hotel! Our first visit to Malta and the location of the Solana was ideal. Rooms immaculate, food amazing and all the staff only to happy to help. Perfect holiday!
Good hotel in a super location with great views from the roof-top pools.
This is a very good hotel and on the main road through Mellieha, so very conveniently placed. We were given lots of useful information as we arrived, regarding restaurant opening times, hotel facilities and bus tickets etc - so a big shout out to Venn for taking the time with us to explain everything. The hotel has a spa with indoor swimming pool and two pools on the top floor which give spectacular views over the town and coast. Be aware that Mellieha is very hilly, with side roads stepped (as in Valletta). The walk down to the coast where there are sun-bathing and lovely swimming opportunities is around a 20 minute walk and there are several buses coming back up the hill to town, should you not wish to walk up. The breakfast is buffet-style and is very comprehensive, with cooked options, continental breakfast, plenty of fresh fruit and sweet options too. This is kept very well stocked all the way through the breakfast service period. This restaurant also hosts a buffet dinner each night. For us, Wednesday was the buffet with Maltese food and it was, again, very comprehensive with lots of choice, We also visited the restaurant on the top floor (Zenplace). This is Asian noodle type food and sushi. The food was OK but we found the ambiance to be unsuitable for our digestion needs. Apparently there is a DJ 3 nights a week, so if you require a quiet meal with a chance to chat, make sure you check these details out before you book - for us, it was like trying to dine in an 80's disco!! It definitely spoilt the experience for us. I must give a shout out to the waitress, Mary Grace, though, as she was super professional and helpful. Finally, our room was of adequate size but we only had an inside window, which was glazed with obscured glass (as was the en-suite window) and gave out onto 3 other walls. This was a disappointment but some people had apparently bought an upgrade to their room (didn't occur to us to do so). Take care, though, and check out the upgraded room before taking it - there are some rooms with balcony at the front of the building and some near the buffet restaurant and I should imagine these rooms would be very noisy. The corridors in this hotel are all pristine but very echoey - so if you have noisy neighbours coming back late and letting the door close to on the heavy door brackets, this can be very disturbing to sleep. Lovely hotel, but I would only give a 3/5 for sleep quality due to this issue.
