Lovely holiday just not the area for us
Just returned from a weeks stay. This hotel is situated close to plenty of restaurants, pubs and nightclubs but away enough not to have any noise to disturb you.
We had club lounge access which was really worth it, breakfast was really good, with plenty of choice and the service in there was excellent (from some of the employees) with the exception of this morning (24th 7am) for the first time we weren’t asked what breakfast we wanted cooking, luckily we were needing to leave on time for the airport. I didn’t make a note of all the employees but a particular couple were Kamal and Luqa, they were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble, a credit to the hotel, please ensure you mention this to them.
Rooms were comfortable, everything you need is provided toiletries, hairdryer, dressing gown, slippers, tea coffee etc.
Pool area was never busy while we were there so plenty of beds to choose from. The actual pool does need maintenance though as when you stepped in the shallow end it does look dirty so a little off putting.
All in all a lovely hotel but we felt it seems a little ‘out of place’ being surrounded by such a busy nightlife.
And lastly St Julian’s is VERY BUSY (Paceville) with its nightlife therefore I definitely would not recommend this resort for young families.
Would I return probably not, not because of the hotel but purely the area.
Couples returning on holiday
We’ve stayed at this hotel several times over the years but haven’t been back to Malta for 7 years. Due to previous good experiences and their club facilities , we booked again. Only thing now is the location is very built up. So many more massive buildings and new hotels are all around. We used to see St George’s Bsy from the club lounge on the 15th floor terrace … not any more.

Perfect Oasis in St Julian’s
Just check out of the hotel today - this was our second stay with our first being 3 years ago and since that stay we have wanted to come back again. This second stay did not disappoint and was just as perfect as the first stay. The hotel is perfectly located for exploring all that Malta has to offer. The facilities of the hotel are great and we enjoyed a lot of time at the Main pool, the Skybeach pool and the hotels private beach club. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service at both pools and love the music playing at both. We also really enjoyed our dinner at the hotels casual Pizza restaurant lubbeli by the water front.
The hotel recognised my IHG Diamond Ambassador status and club lounge membership. Having stayed in many many Intercontinental hotels across Europe we feel that this hotels club lounge is by far the best - the venue, the food and drinks offering and the service are top class and sets this hotel apart from others. All the team members were so welcoming and attentive with a Special mention to Kamal and Asal in the club lounge whose service was fantastic.
We were upgraded to a lovely suite for this second stay and we really enjoyed the space and the multiple balcony’s & terrace (thank you again for this upgrade) - it added something special to the stay.

Stay away from this hotel!
Unfortunately, this hotel branch fell short of expectations. I booked it as one of the Edit hotels through Chase Reserve travel system, which comes with $100 property credits that can be used to offset ANY expenses incurred at the hotel. This is, indeed, the case for ALL other Edit hotels I have ever stayed at. During the check-out process, the front desk lady had the audacity to inform me that the $100 credit could not be used toward the massage fee from the hotel Spa because the Spa is an independent vendor not associated with the hotel (which NOBODY told me before during the check-in process or at the Spa itself when I was making the reservation and mentioning that I will be using the $100 property credit!!). So I asked the lady, "so if the Spa is run directly by the hotel, I can apply the $100 off credit then?", at which point she immediately responded "Oh no, it would still not be covered because the property credit can only be used toward food and drinks!" This is obviously unacceptable, because as I mentioned above, the $100 PROPERTY credits are NOT limited towards just foods and drinks and can, in fact, be used for anything purchased or service rendered on the PROPERTY of the hotel!! (And this is fully confirmed by Chase Sapphire Reserve travel agent themselves!) (Hence, its called PROPERTY credits and not food and drinks credits!) This lack of professionalism is certainly unacceptable and borderline business misconduct. I STRONGLY discourage anyone to stay at this hotel. There are certainly much better options in the area that can offer you better professionalism and courtesy!! Stay away!

Fantastic Stay and Genuine Hospitality!!!
We had a fantastic seven-night stay at InterContinental Malta for my birthday holiday. From the moment we arrived and even before we set foot in Malta the care from the team was exceptional. The Club InterContinental team contacted us before arrival which was very thoughtful.
We arrived late at night and found champagne waiting for us on ice in our room. The service throughout our stay was consistently warm and attentive. The Club Lounge was a highlight, largely because of the people.
One small moment says everything about the hospitality here. I mentioned to Uday that I missed having rice with my meals. It was a simple request, but the next day the team made sure rice was available. Uday, John, Kumar, Hazle and Luka all remembered. It was not really about the rice. It was about the fact that I mentioned something small, and the team cared enough to make it happen. That is genuine hospitality.
Joniel, Kamal and Asal were also wonderful. They remember our choice of drinks and seeing them each evening became part of our routine.
Chris from Concierge seamlessly arranged a wonderful day tour for us, making it incredibly easy to explore Malta.
Dimitry, our “Panoramic Hero”, deserves a special mention. He helped arrange our earlier move to the Panoramic Suite and made the room change a memorable part of our stay.
The beautiful suites, incredible views, excellent Club Lounge, champagne on arrival, fruit, nightly turndown and room service were all fantastic. However, it was the people who made this stay truly special.
I travel frequently and have stayed in many hotels, so I know the difference between receiving benefits and experiencing genuine hospitality. This was genuine hospitality.
Thank you to the entire team at InterContinental Malta, especially everyone who looked after us during our stay. You made my birthday holiday feel truly special.
We’re still here as I’m writing this and we’re already planning our return!
