Thinking of holidaying in St Julian's, Malta? You're in for a treat. One of the island's newest resorts, it's already one of the most popular. And partly that's because of some of the fabulous hotels here – in fact there are more luxury hotels in St Julian's than there are anywhere else on the island. And the Cavalieri Hotel is an easy recommendation.
The Cavalieri Hotel is the ideal choice for so many reasons: its facilities are top notch, and its location is perfect – quietly tucked away, but only a few hundred yards from the heart of St Julian's Spinola Bay.
St Julian's promises the quintessential sunshine holiday. Long, hot days at the water's edge or, if you're staying at the Cavalieri Hotel, you can enjoy the hotel lido too. At night, you can explore along the harbour-front discovering tucked away restaurants and cafes, or just taking in the heady evening air. The bright lights of adjacent Paceville draws younger travellers to the entertainment centres' many clubs.
With the Cavalieri Hotel as your base, you've got the best of both worlds; all that St Julian's and the Cavalieri have to offer. Comfort is definitely on the menu; the wonderfully cool, air conditioned rooms boast twin beds and en suite bathrooms (with shower and bath, all deluxe rooms include a walk-in shower). Each has satellite TV, radio, direct dial phone, safe, (unstocked) mini bar and tea/coffee too. Hairdryers are available upon request at no extra charge.
The hotel also boasts two bars and a TV room. And with live entertainment on offer most nights, you'll soon be busy having the time of your life.
As you'd expect with a hotel of this quality, there are so many extra amenities, including a GP on call, an on-site laundrette and dry cleaning service; even a souvenir shop. And, with its solarium and second pool (which is heated through the colder months), the Cavalieri Hotel is just as popular in the winter too.
St Julians is one of Malta's most vibrant and popular resorts, and the Cavalieri Hotel is one of its most popular places to stay. So if you are really thinking about a holiday in St Julian's, why not come and see the best that this island has to offer?

This hotel is located just over 200 yards from Spinola Bay, in the heart of St Julian's, and no less than 400 yards from Paceville. The hotel is right on the water's edge and has its own private lido with a large outdoor swimming pool, a children's pool and a sundeck with solarium containing a second pool, enclosed and heated in the winter and open during the summer.
Good location and with a lot of potential, but this was a poor experience.
Firstly the air conditioning. It's awful and not fit for purpose when outsode temps are into the high 30s.
The general decor in communal areas is run down.
There is no security here. One day my keycard didn't let me in the room. The maintenance guy happened to be in the area and lucky for me let me in my room, but it's quite alarming that he didn't even check my credentials.
The room was a decent size but the bathroom, you can hardly move in it. Water pressure was far too low.
Views over the bay are stunning.
Bteakfast was OK with decent choice.
Pool area OK but the pool was cloudy. You have access to the sea directly from the hotel and the sea swimming was lovely.
Mixed review. No doubt there will be a reply here from management saying the air con issue will be dealt with immediately but the system needs a total update to the modern era. Its even less fun when you find your room has power cuts and everything turns off in there which happened on more than one occasion.
Very disappointing and unsafe experience , would not recommend this hotel
Our experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. First of all, the air conditioning was not working, which already made our stay uncomfortable.
Unfortunately, things became much worse ,my daughter became sick. We went to the lounge/reception area to get ready for our flight. My daughter accidentally left her handbag on a table, together with a paper bag. When we returned approximately 30 minutes later, the handbag was gone.
The handbag itself was expensive and, more importantly, it contained valuable personal belongings, including a bank card and other important items. We immediately went to reception to report what had happened.
What was particularly concerning was the way the situation was handled. We were initially told that security would check the CCTV cameras. We were then told that security works from home and does not have access to the cameras. After some time, we were told that the area was supposedly a “blind spot.”
This is very difficult to understand because this is the lounge/reception area, and there are cameras covering the area. We were even told that they could see people going in and out, but supposedly nobody was seen carrying our bag.
For a hotel reception/lounge area, this raises serious concerns about security and the safety of guests and their belongings. If guests cannot leave their belongings in a monitored common area without them disappearing, and the hotel cannot properly investigate what happened, that is extremely worrying.
We expected much better from a hotel. The combination of non-functioning air conditioning, the loss of our belongings, and the lack of an adequate response from management/security made this a very unpleasant and stressful experience.
I would strongly recommend that the hotel review its CCTV coverage, security procedures, and the way incidents involving guests' belongings are handled. Based on our experience, we certainly did not feel that our belongings were safe here.
I have stayed at this property for many years and usually recommended it to friends and family. I stayed here last year and while I had noticed the quality had dipped, I decided to give it another chance. I was bitterly disappointed to see that the hotel's standards had dipped even further.
This hotel is unfortunately not to a four star standard.
The location of the hotel is amazing. Dive off the walkway near the pools straight into the mediterranean sea. Pools and pool bar area are great places to relax. Breakfast, lunch and dinner served at the hotel was very good. Very pleasant and helpful staff. The airconditioning did not work effectively in the rooms, trying to sleep whilst the room was at 27-28+ degrees, humid and musty, was almost impossible. Bathroom fixtures too small to use properly. Vinyl flooring in rooms loose. Friends had to be moved because of mould in their room, another had a main door that would not close properly, had to be repaired. For a hotel that is part of a massive hotel chain, it falls way below the standard I expected for the price I paid.
This hotel was an absolute shambles from the minute we arrived! The reception was shabby, check in was pleasant as we had to wait for two other guests who were complaining about the facilities and rooms… when we got our room it all made sense. The hotel is undergoing some refurbishment but what had been refurbished left a lot to be desired. The air conditioning was non existent and the deluxe room sea view which we had booked well the photos don’t lie. There wasn’t even bedside lamps, the safe was not attached to anything so could easily be lifted out of the room. The smell of damp in the corridors and the room was dreadful. When we asked to be moved to a different room we were told that was a superior room we had 🫣. The bathroom was so small you would needed to leave to change your mind, there was no room to put anything even a toothbrush on the sink unit. There was no hot water in the evening! Needless to say one night done us! Please just don’t waste your money x
