Surrounded by large green spaces, the hotel overlooks one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, the Falésia beach in the Algarve. The spacious rooms have private balconies and a warm, contemporary décor. The gastronomic offer is diversified, with a buffet restaurant in 'food market' concept and a Brasserie restaurant, next to the outdoor pool. The hotel has 4 swimming pools (indoor and outdoor), spa, gym and tennis court. Located near natural attractions and golf courses, PortoBay Blue Ocean shares restaurants and bars with PortoBay Falésia just next door. Both hotels connect through the outdoor gardens in a pleasant walk.

Great hotel
Lovely clean and well maintained hotel, with a relaxed atmosphere, attentive and helpful staff and close to the beach (although down lots of steps which wouldn’t be suitable for some). We would definitely go back.

Fantastic time in the Algarve.
We stayed for 4 nights in one of the adult only rooms. Hotel was lovely, rooms clean and recently updated. The adult only room patio doors came out on the same level as the adult only pool had two reserved sun beds (not the comfy ones). We never had an issue getting one of the comfy beds when wanted but they did fill up much quicker than the other pool. They do have a policy if belongings are left longer than 90 minutes they will be moved to reception.
We had breakfast included. Could be more varied but all good quality. We always managed to find somewhere nice for dinner, all walkable from the hotel.
It should be noted that the hotel is at the end of a dead end road with 3 other hotels, so is around a 8-10 minute walk to the closest shops/restaurants. There were 3 beaches we visited, one by the harbour in town, around 15 minutes away walk away, one which is reached by boardwalk and steps accessed from the road outside the hotel which leads you to a small cove, the third being our favourite which was accessed by using the boardwalk through the sister hotel, leaving this hotel via the gate at the end (remember your room key) then going down around 120 steps to the beach. As a result this hotel may not be as suited to people with mobility issues.
The aircon with the ceiling fan made the room cool enough for us after the first night, it takes a while to cool down in the first place though.
Minor thing which could be improved on, the fridge never seemed to very cold.

Great nearly-beach holiday hotel with all the facilities
The new (2025) Portobay, next to its sister Portobay Falesia. You can use both by walking between them for 5 mins. BlueOcean is an impressive new build, with spacious ground floor, big buffet restaurant bar with inside and outside terrace with varied music nightly. Steps down to a large (cold) main pool. Also an alacarte restaurant Flor de Sel, which we booked twice although we had a half-board deal. it provided excellent local dishes, though service could be slow. Also once we had to move inside as the breeze (well, wind) was so strong. We got a first floor room with access to the adult pool, which was great. Surrounded by grasses, quiet with no muzak, big loungers (that did get baggied early), plus a couple of loungers outside each room, which was most convenient; plus a mobile drinks man. The walk to the Falesia beach is quite a hike, across the sister hotel and then down 125 steps plus a walk along a popular driving track to the actual beach; it gets busy but is very long. The Atlantic water is very cold! Wine by the bottle or glass is local and pretty reasonable. They also do cocktails and have a happy hour.

An excellent choice in the Algarve
After a wonderful experience in 2025, we booked another holiday at the PortoBay Blue Ocean Hotel in the Algarve. This is truly an excellent hotel with an amazing location, on top of the cliffs near the famous Falésia beach. A spacious, well-designed hotel with great facilities. A large pool with more than enough sunbeds, an adults only pool with comfortable lounge beds, excellent food, a cozy bar and last but not least very professional and friendly staff. Amazing hotel
