The beautiful sandy beach of Oura is just a short stroll away; the centre of Albufeira can be easily reached. The bullring and the Continente Shopping Centre are within walking distance. Lovely hotel
I have just had a week at this hotel and what an amazing place it is, the minute you walk inside the beautiful smell greets you. All the staff are so friendly and helpful and the place is spotless. We went breakfast only but there is a wide choice of what to eat. There wasn’t a rush of sun beds and maybe that’s the time of year plus the pool is locked till 9 am. The strip is a 10 minute walk it’s very lively but there is also other areas to eat that isn’t as busy plus the hotel will get a taxi for you which arrives quickly, the apartments are a lovely size and have everything you need is you wish to cook whilst your away, we had a top floor with a pool side view which over look the mountains and was lovely, i only didn’t enjoy the cockerel in the field at 5 am. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone interested in staying in this area of Portugal

Geweldig hotel
A lovely hotel with plenty of things to do. The staff were very friendly, the rooms were very clean, and there is a large swimming pool. The entertainment team (Roshan and Claudia) always made sure we had a fun day and really made our stay extra enjoyable!
A fantastic holiday
My wife and I have recently returned from an 11 night stay at Vila Petra, and absolutely loved it. We had a pool facing 1 bed apartment, and it’s the best holiday accommodation that we have had in many years - spacious, comfortable, well equipped and effective air conditioning. We never had a problem getting a sun bed, and I liked the fact that they didn’t open the pool area until 9am, which stopped any early morning towel droppers! Whilst we didn’t really join in the daytime activities, the guys worked tirelessly, and always stopped for a chat - and we always took part in “question of the day” ( unsuccessfully!). When we first arrived, the pool bar would open at 10:30 and close at 18:00, but midway through our break, the timings changed to 12:00 - 17:30, which was disappointing, and although there was another bar a couple of minutes walk away, we like the vibe that you get from a pool bar. I would suggest that they could do with some shades in the limited seating area, to make it more comfortable.
We also did a few beach days which we loved. It’s about a 20 minute walk, past some shops, and through the strip, and mainly downhill, but I would definitely recommend getting an uber back! They are cheap and reliable, and take away the heart attack risk walking up the hill! Obviously it’s more expensive to spend time at the sea front, as you have to pay for sun beds ( 19 euros for two beds and a shade) and the bar prices are more expensive, but it still makes for a lovely day out. We used to have some lovely lunches at an oriental restaurant overlooking the sea. The food was excellent, and reasonably priced. Getting back to Vila Petra, we enjoyed their BBQ evening, and the steak night was superb. We also took part in a number of quizzes, which were fun, but I recommend some ear plugs for the karaoke evenings 😉
The staff are a credit to the hotel. We did feel that two or three of the younger staff needed to have some customer service training, and learn to smile, but maybe they were just unhappy in their job. That aside, everyone else that we dealt with was warm, friendly and helpful. I’ve already mentioned the entertainment boys, but special mention should also go to David and the team in Stones bar, who gave great service, and made some superb cocktails.
Other than the minor suggestions that I have made, there is nothing not to like about Vila Petra, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. We rarely return back to a place that we have been to, as we like to explore other areas, but I think that we might be making an exception as far as Vila Petra is concerned.
A fantastic holiday made better by a fabulous hospitality team all round
Great location, near supermarkets and the strip, a quick Uber ride to the Old Town. Friendly , funny, comfortable and relaxing. We had an apartment which was fully equipped and well appointed, everything you need for a long stay. Cleaned very day, I really can’t say how nice this trip was. Great value for money out of school holidays, couldn’t comment about in school holidays, Claudio and Roshan were the ultimate hosts as the entertainment team, they were very engaging and just fabulous people to spend time with. David and the team in the Stone bar were the best ever. Xerius restaurant was amazingly good value for money, manned by great staff, the food was excellent and plentiful. All in all I loved my holiday at Villa Petra and hope to return.
