Set on a hill in the western Algarve, near Carvoeiro, Vale d'El Rei is 3 kilometres south of Lagoa, which can be explored on the way to Praia da Marinha. Surrounded by vineyards and hills and in close proximity to beaches that have been carved out of the cliff by the waves, this is a place which is far from the hustle and bustle yet is still conveniently close to everything.
Apart from its prime location, the property is a harmonious combination of a hotel with charming interior design and villas built in the Algarve's traditional architectural style. Surrounded by gardens, the leisure areas invite you to relax. Guests at Vale d'El Rei can also take full advantage of the 3 outdoor swimming pools. The sensational Day Spa features massage rooms and a relaxation area complete with sauna, hot tub, Turkish bath and hydromassage. Mediterranean cuisine can be enjoyed at the Serenata restaurant while the Calabash Café offers a nice setting for cocktails.
The hotel offers a free shuttle service to Carvoeiro beach.

Beautiful resort with absolutely amazing staff (especially Alissa!!)
We drove from Lisbon and unfortunately suffered a flat tyre, having to wait for Mercedes we needed a last minute hotel as we had already left our other resort for a beach day. First of all, our greeter at reception, Alissa, is a lovely lady and super helpful and kind. She made us feel at ease and very welcome at 10pm!!
The room was gorgeous, clean and very lovely spacious bed! Breakfast was fantastic, lots of options including hot and cold variety and enough for me as I'm an annoying vegan lol.
We checked out at 11am, they looked after our bags so my partner could go and deal with the car and I used the amenities around the resort, its a lovely place filled with lovely staff and adorable wild life. Couldn't have been stranded in a better place, please do consider here if you would like a calm, relaxing stay.

Prosecco breakfast
Really lovely hotel with brilliant staff .only criticism we have is the advertised mini bus to the town centre didnt happen as the shuttle bus was broken , so if you do want to venture out to the centre of town was an average €9 with a Uber or €10-15 with hotel ordered taxi !!! As I say it is a lovely hotel so thank you for great week ps the Prosecco at breakfast is a lovely touch !!!

Peaceful and relaxing 🥰
We're just home from visiting the hotel for a week as a family of 2 adults and 2 children (12 & 10).
Our villa was beautiful and so spacious! Our only suggestion here would be for more kitchen utensils please! We didn't have a chopping board or sharp knives available and we usually ate one small meal in our villa each day. Also no dish cloths or washing liquid was provided so we had to buy both and suspect most of this will have been thrown away by cleaners.
Buffet breakfast was great - fresh fruit, cold meat and cheese, cooked breakfast and many bread and pastries available daily. We ate in the poolside restaurant one evening and found this to be convenient but wouldn't necessarily rush back for the price. Velvet bar had a great selection of drinks and snacks available at reasonable prices.
We only used the main non heated pool but it was a lovely environment and we never had issues finding loungers available (visiting during May half term) at any time of day.
We used the free shuttle bus to Carvoeiro and this was great for us to head out to watch the play off finals!
Special shout outs to Telma who organised the most beautiful anniversary arrangement for myself and my husband 🥰 and to Carlos at the pool bar who was my son's absolute favourite when he remembered to ask how his team did in the football ⚽🥰
All in all a wonderful and peaceful break, a welcome change from the AI chaos we've been used to with children for the last few years!

A tranquil escape with first class service
Another wonderful stay at the Vale Del Rei, our fourth visit and we just can’t fault it. The peaceful location, the beautifully refurbished rooms, the excellent breakfasts and the most helpful and delightful staff make the Vale Del Rei such a special place and why we wouldn’t go elsewhere, thank you, we look forward to our stay next year 🙏🏻

Exceptional stay with fantastic staff and great breakfast
I stayed at Hotel Vale D’El Rei in October 2025 and couldn’t have been happier with the experience. The room was spotless and comfortable, and the facilities were top-notch. Breakfast was fresh, varied, and delicious. When we had a small issue with our booking (our fault), the staff were amazing — friendly, efficient, and genuinely eager to help. Their attitude made all the difference. It’s a beautiful, relaxing place to stay, and I’d happily return. Highly recommended.
