Vitors Village

We have just returned from two weeks at the excellent Vitor's Village. I had emailed to ask for an apartment on the top floor with a sunny balcony. They were able to provide a lovely first floor room in Praca block but no sunny balcony. As it happens this was a blessing as it would have been too hot to sit outside! We had a nice welcome from Nuno and a Whats App when our room was ready. Everything on the whole complex was spotless. The room was cleaned every day with towels and bedding changed regularly. We were on s/c basis. A hairdrier, iron and board, kettle, toaster and coffee machine were all provided. There was also a dishcloth, sponge, washing up liquid and handwash. There were plenty of utensils, crockery, pans etc. Unfortunately no bread board. The beds were comfy. There was plenty of storage but sadly no-where for ladies dresses to hang. The air-con was in the bedroom and the lounge and was included (Jet2 package). The safe was free too. The bathroom was nice but dated with a shower over the bath. Toiletries provided. There was always plenty of hot water.

The pools were both great with plenty of sunbeds. The little shop is open every day and you can get croissants and little baguettes. We didn't use the restaurant and bar. All the staff we spoke to were very good.

It's a steep walk down into the village which is of course worse coming back up. A lot of people were going the longer way around which is less steep. Some of the restaurants are pretty expensive and you need to book. Other places are more reasonable. You can get a Bolt or Uber into Portimao for about €5. It's lovely along the waterfront especially in the evening and there's many more restaurants to choose from. You can also catch a taxi boat from the Quayside in Ferragudo to Portimao or Praia da Rocha. It's €10 return each. If you need shopping there's Lidl, Aldi and Continente about a 3 minute drive away or 20 minute walk.

Just back from Vitors Village,Ferragudo, Portugal. I’d read other reviews and they all seemed positive and boy were they right. Vitors Village accommodation set around a large swimming pool area set In lovely grounds was a delight. Accommodation was good, we had an apartment in the Pernalta block, with a terrace over looking the river, it was clean well equipped and ideal for the two of us. Cleaned everyday, towels changed when needed and the cleaning staff were lovely and friendly. We had booked on a half board basis and the choice of foods at breakfast and the evening meal were very good with lovely friendly waiting staff. The evening meal was a choice of starters, main courses and sweets, to good , my partner put on six pounds !!! The walk into Ferragudo was an easy downhill five minutes, the five minutes more round to the harbour and through the side streets and the choice of food on offer was very good from high end to budget. From the harbour you can take the water ferry to Prai Roche or Portimau, not to expensive and well worth a visit. From the harbour you can also book cruises to the caves or river boat trips to Silves or Alvor for wine tasting, we did the river cruise to Silves, small boat , skipper and only four of us, really good trip, skipper was entertaining,funny and informative, port tasting in Silves on the boat was good fun, with the skipper insisting on giving us as much as we wanted. He also took us to see the wild Flamingoes on the river , not guaranteed to be seen, but well worth it if you get to see them Overall I would definitely recommend Vitors Village and Ferragudo. Only one comment, it was described by Tui as adult only, it’s not, there were children there, but they were well behaved and unobtrusive. Only advice I would give is just go BnB, food at Vitors very good ( I put on four pounds!) but it’s nice to try different restaurants as well. Definitely would recommend.
