NH Marina Portimao

About 1 hr drive from the airport via Uber which we booked in advance and saved money as was much cheaper then taxis. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment facing the marina which was honestly the best view you could ask for and it really ticked all the boxes. Staff were very helpful, check in and out was a breeze with the team driving us and our bags on a golf buggy. They even assisted me to locate my phone I left in an uber.

Breakfast was fantastic. The kids loved the pancake station and the offering was vast with a superb marina view, yet again. Our apartment was big and spacious with all that you would need. It felt very private and quiet. The bathroom could do with an update and deep clean but we were able to look past this when everything else was so practical, accommodating and easy to access.

Local restaurants were very close and in view from our balcony and the beautiful beach was just around the corner … and was massive! There was also a couple of shops on the doorstep that stocked the essentials. The town was around a 15 min walk up quite a lot of steps but it was all beautiful and worth the walk. There was plenty of options around the hotel/beach even if you chose not to walk to the strip.

The salt water swimming pool was fab. Perfect for children as all one depth. Lots of sun beds available and I was so impressed that people didn’t selfishly reserve the sun beds with their towels.

Pool side Resaurant served pizzas and toasties which were reasonably priced.

I would highly recommend this hotel / destination, we really did have a fabulous relaxing stay

On arrival things were looking good . Room was lovely and big looking onto the pool . From then on things turned for the worse .. I firstly on second day got trapped in the lift ! Pushed emergency button and no one arrived , I’d say was in there for 5 minutes before the doers decided to open ! I went straight to reception and they said no alarm had come through to them , but they would look into it .. no sympathy with what had just happened to myself ! The lift was then out of order the rest of the week . I then had a problem opening my patio doors so asked if someone could take a look , this was via phone call from my room . I waited about an hr and a half and no one had turned up so decided to have a quick shower . I left the bathroom door open so if I heard a knock at the door I could jump out quickly as the bathroom door was in front of main door . After my shower I decided to get dressed and go and ask reception when will someone come and help . At this point at reception I was told he had already been in and door is ok ! I asked when as I’d been there all the time other than my shower !! I was mortified that basically he had come in while I was in the shower !!!! At this the reception guy said I should have put a “do not disturb “ on my door ! I was not aware someone had been in !!! I spoke to customer relations in the hotel , obviously very upset and being a solo traveller etc .. She said she would look into it .. never heard another thing ! Totally ruined my holiday ! No apology or anything! The room maid only seemed to make the bed , no room service removed and a flick over in bathroom.. dust was this all around the room .. pool area nice and waiters friendly ..other than that my whole experience was totally ruined.. I will not be returning and the way I was treated is absolutely appalling in my eyes ..

The hotel is beautiful, great location with magnificent views of the marina. The T Bone steakhouse restaurant is as absolutely beautiful as the service. The staff are super friendly and so professional. Huberto and Carlos are fantastic and so informative about the food, amazing service, we loved this restaurant so much that we kept coming back every night of our holiday.
