The property is conveniently positioned in the historical city centre, within easy reach from the main important sightseeing points of interest such as Santa Maria Church, a few steps away. Staying at this accommodation option will always be a great experience, as some of the bedrooms have been completely refurbished from cells, exuding a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere. Lovely historic hotel
Things stated badly. At check-in we discovered the beautiful courtyard in this historic building was being dug up by archaeologists forced on the hotel by the local government and with little notice and no warning to guests. This ruined our enjoyment of this wonderful part of the hotel, although the water fountain continued to run and the noise did reduce a lot. As we relaxed into our stay the calm, tranquillity and wonderful service of the staff took over and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Breakfast was superb, with freshly squeezed orange juice and a huge selection of food. Our bedroom was very nice with a comfortable bed and good air conditioning. It was also quiet, apart from the church bells ringing one morning at 8am. The location is excellent with good access to all the key sites on foot. We joined the Saturday 10am yoga class in the adjacent church hall, which was well attended and fun. The pool area and gardens are also excellent. I am not sure it’s classic five-star luxury but nevertheless a lovely hotel.

Absolute bliss in Tavira
We had a lovely stay in this very unique hotel. It was like living in a museum. The centre of the convent was undergoing an archeological dig due to recent findings so it really was like stepping back in time. Our room faced the park. It was very quaint and quirky with plenty of space and seemingly decorated in-keeping with the convent itself - simple and peaceful. . Breakfast was amazing. Cooked and continental. There was a lovely outside area - or you could eat inside too - but it felt so peaceful and calm. The swimming pool was lovely. Lots of space between sunbeds. In fact I’ve never sat around a pool in such peaceful surroundings. There were no children and everyone was respectfully quiet. Parking was free and secure and when we left we were given a little bag of cookies for our journey which was a lovely touch. The employees were so helpful and friendly. Location was excellent. About a 5 minute stroll to the river and centre of Tavira. Cobblestones could be a tad slippy. Castle was a stones throw away - free to enter with some beautiful gardens and views over the river. Calm and peaceful
Lovely in every way. Spotlessly clean. We had the basic room which was plenty big enough for 2, nothing fancy but just right. Water replaced every other day. Bath/ shower drained extremely slowly but it is an old building! Lovely staff, peaceful pool with plenty of loungers. Clientele when we started was mostly elderly.

perfect -great customer service!
Excellent exprience-renovated convent that was so pretty. Employees were wonderful, very helpful and personable. Loved the fruit infused water everyday and service at the pool. The pool was such a treat to come back to after a hot day out in town. Very peaceful, no music, no kids just people reading real books. 5minute walk down to the river, close to shops and restaurants. Had our best steak and golden bream dinners at O Costelo-very close to the hotel. Our room was a nice size, soft sheets, large bathroom -all very clean. After we arrived they delivered a little basket of fruit which was a nice surprise.

A great place to stay in Tavira
Excellent hotel staff very helpful good setting and in a quiet part of town the breakfast was great.
