Dona Filipa Hotel

I recently stayed at this hotel with a group of girlfriends. We were on an organised Padel Tennis course for 4 nights. During our stay one of our group was subjected to a very unpleasant experience. Her room was on the ground floor and after returning from our morning session of Padel she found a handwritten note on her balcony. It was obscene and vulgar offering an explicit sexual encounter and a phone number to call. Naturally she was upset and shocked and reported the incident but it was the response she received from the hotel staff that appalled us all as a group. The initial response was to ask her if she had encouraged male attention as we were a group of ladies on our own. This was a totally insulting and disrespectful insinuation. It wasn’t until the next day that the manager Manuel Baltazar finally deigned to speak to her, although she had to seek him out. He showed very little empathy and understanding of the distress that the crude note had caused. He attempted to brush the whole incident away and only offered an apology when pushed. His overall attitude was very unsympathetic and misogynistic. A disgraceful display of customer care. I certainly will not come back.

I was staying at the hotel with some friends and we all had our own rooms. One of our party suffered a most unpleasant experience whereby a handwritten note was left on her balcony with a phone number to ring offering a sexual encounter in very crude explicit terms. Whilst this would have been unsettling at best as she was in a room on a lower floor overlooking the golf course and so open to an intruder it was the hotel staff’s reaction to the incident that was the most shocking. A receptionist’s initial reaction was to ask if the guest herself had been out looking for men as we were a group of ladies on our own - a totally outrageous and hugely insulting and inappropriate response to a distressing situation. I cannot believe this response and from a woman too in 2026 - it shows complete lack of empathy or any form of training in customer relations. To make things worse, when the Manager Manuel Baltazar finally appeared and made contact (only when pressed to do so) his attitude and demeanour was both arrogant and disparaging. He sat back in his chair with his legs apart and his hand behind his head in a typically masculine assertive manner and showed absolutely no sympathy to my friend - he made no attempt to try and understand the distress she had been caused. He only apologised reluctantly and rather spuriously for what had happened after 15 minutes of being asked to! He did not take the whole incident at all seriously so I would recommend that no women on their own ever stay at this hotel. I shall certainly never stay there again.

Melani Viegas, hi, I travelled to your hotel as a solo traveller early September 2025 and enjoyed so much, I'm coming back on 3rd September this year, and I cannot wait!

Staff were all so lovely and helpful, premium room overlooking golf and sea was great, and food excellent.

Really looking forward to seeing you all again!
