We stayed at Domes Lake for a second consecutive year as a family of three (my wife and I and our 17 month old daughter).
We simply can’t recommend the hotel enough. The staff are fantastic and very attentive especially with our daughter.
It was a different holiday than last year as this year our daughter was able to enjoy the pools more and run around more, definitely keeping us in our toes! It that just made the cocktails even more enjoyable when she had her afternoon nap!
Location is ideal for us as we don’t want to be bothered with Ubers etc and being so close to the marina is perfect.
We stayed in a Sapphire room which we upgraded to compared to last year. The rooms themselves are much the same however the views from the balcony overlooking the pools and lake are well worth the extra. We enjoyed sitting there in the evenings once we got our daughter to sleep.
The quality of food and drink is excellent but slightly pricey, although to be expected at a 5* hotel.
Overall again we absolutely love the hotel and it’s very likely we will return next year for a third time.
Just returned from an 8 night stay and whilst the grounds were stunning the rooms were very disappointing and in need of modernising. We thought we were staying at a 5 star hotel but the rooms were dated especially the bathrooms - our toilet seat was broken all week. The cleaners broke the curtains and left it for us to sort and one day took my daughter’s bedding and didn’t replace it until almost 11pm at night despite repeated calls.
My kids went to the kids club for yes day and were bored, the staff did the best but all activities were inside with not enough to entertain the kids.
The pool areas were not kept very clean - we sore an apple core on the floor at least two days in a row. Toe nails 🤢. Service wasn’t great around the pool - always took ages to get a drink and made it known if something was too much effort.
One of the pools was sharp underfoot and my child actually cut her hand on it.
Such a shame, it cost a lot of money and wouldn’t go back. We stayed at the Tivoli in May and it was a totally different standard, by far better.
7 nights in Domes Lake with my husband and 3 children. From the outset very disappointing. Been told to wait until the staff member could check us in so to use the arrivals lounge- stale water, coffee and cocoa covered almonds. Nothing suitable or refreshing for my children after our long journey. Then at check-in, which took and age, I was asked by the person checking us in to tell me the ages of my children as he pointed to the passports he was holding in his hand 🤷♀️. He then told us we got a free upgrade. We were very excited. All I can say is that if this was an upgrade I’d hate to see what rooms they were going to give us. He then asked if we had baggage?!! 2 huge cases propped beside us must not have been a good clue. We said yes and he said where we ok to take bags to our room ourselves. Not very 5 star! Rooms were disappointing, small, dated and overlooking busy road and bins. Dirty tissue in the wardrobe and crisps on the floor. At end of holiday my husband found a half packet of cigarettes in my young children’s room!! Clearly left by previous guests.
Service was awful in general but especially at the Estrella bar. Literally could not get staff to come over, even waving at them and them seeing still wasn’t enough. We never got the right order at any visit. Staff always busy talking to each other or cleaning up. They are very good at taking away dirty dishes etc, in fact on one occasion we had our dishes taken away before we had finished eating from them!! On another occasion we stood waiting for an age to be seated despite loads of staff walking all around us. Eventually we got attended to. We asked for table for 5 as there were clearly 5 of us. We were shown to a table with 4 chairs and left to it. My husband had to go find a bar chair and carry it above others heads to get it to our table. Bar is grubby, cocktails not great. Food was fine.
Facilities poor. Every day we had to try to find sun loungers and gave up half way through our holiday after my husband having to lift and carry a lounger to another 1 we found as staff watched and did not help and then all 5 of us perched on 2 loungers. Not replaxing at all.
My husband and 2 younger children got a tummy bug which was awful. We did everything together, we ate and drank same things, went to same places etc. The only thing they did that me and my eldest did not do was swim in the beach pool…. An awful end to a terrible holiday.
This is not a 5 star hotel and the service was appalling, facilities lacking and cleanliness poor.
We have stayed in the W, Epic sana, Pine Cliffs, Tivoli… all much better than this hotel. Definitely would not recommend and will not go back.
Just returned from a week family holiday at Domes Lake Algarve. Fabulous hotel, great location, amenities and high quality food and drink. You won’t be disappointed.
We visited Domes of Corfu last year, they are very similar but I marginally preferred this resort. The Tropical Family Retreat was effectively two rooms, providing amble space for 2 adults and two kids, with some extras thrown in as a Haute Living guest. The location is fantastic, love walking around the grounds, beach is 10mins away and marina about the same. Some resorts can feel isolated but not this one. Then again, we thought the food at Domes was better than the best marina restaurants. Favourite was sitting on the terrace at Antonio’s with the sun setting, bliss.
It’s a busy resort but there is amble space by the pool and no issue getting sunbeds. It’s a chilled atmosphere so if you want loud music, and evening discos this is not the place for you.
I have very little suggestions for improvement. Perhaps the welcome could have been more relaxed, with a drink by the bar. Service was good but could always be more personal in some places. But in general, would not hesitate to recommend this resort.
A fantastic hotel with excellent facilities and great staff. The hotel has everything you need for a memorable hotel with quality restaurants, a decent gym, a range of swimming pools and attentive staff. All the staff were a credit to the hotel, but a special thank you to Monica in guest relations, Pedro from Brazil in the pool bar and the lady that served our coffee in the quieter breakfast area.
