Located between Vilamoura’s elegant marina and the golden sands of Praia da Marina beach, Tivoli Marina Vilamoura offers a stylish and well-positioned base for couples, families, and golfers alike. With its fresh, modern design and a host of facilities, the hotel is ideal for both relaxation and active holidays on the Algarve coast.
There’s plenty to enjoy during your stay, including two outdoor pools (one with a dedicated children’s area), lush gardens, and a well-equipped fitness centre. The spa offers a wide menu of treatments, along with a sauna, steam room, indoor swimming pool and vitality pool, for some well-deserved downtime. A kids’ club and playground cater to younger guests, while nearby golf courses, tennis courts, and Vilamoura’s vibrant marina provide plenty of leisure options.
Dining at the hotel is a highlight, with a range of restaurants serving international cuisine, from elegant à la carte dining to casual beachfront meals. Guests can also relax at the cocktail lounge or grab a light snack by the pool.
Rooms are bright, airy, and decorated in calming tones, many offering private balconies with views over the sea or marina. Each room includes air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, tea and coffee-making facilities, a minibar, a safe, and an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower or bathtub. Room upgrades are available at a supplement, including suites with additional space and enhanced amenities.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
To start I’ll explain why we as a couple purposely book a 5 star resort: no sun lounger stress, no ball games, diving or floats so you can swim and relax in pool, nice clean restaurants with plenty of food options, and overall a relaxing atmosphere. We booked this hotel as based on previous reviews and pictures it appeared to meet that criteria.
Reality is people do not know how to behave in this type of resort and don’t follow the rules so the hotel ultimately needs to do a better, more consistent job at ensuring the atmosphere is maintained.
We were quite shocked on arrival to this hotel that the pool was more like a family fun fair/water park with all of the ball games, floats and general chaos. We also had trouble with our room which was well below par. In fairness to the hotel they immediately rectified the room and addressed the behaviours at the pool though it did take them 2 days to regain control of the pool. There was people getting extremely irate with the staff who were asking them to stop throwing balls at full force around the pool. I can see in reviews some people are giving out about the ball game rule. If this is a problem for you consider staying at a 3 or 4 star family centric hotel which will be more to your taste. In relation to the sun lounger war, it is a significant problem at the hotel. People literally get up at crack of dawn to put towels down and don’t re-appear until 4pm it makes no sense. One day it was particularly bad and the life guard suggest we take a sun lounger at the kids pool and overall really didn’t care. Hotel is doing nothing to prevent the issue apart from leaving leaflets in the rooms at night. Again this has to be re-enforced by actions to actually work.
Overall the hotel grounds are stunning, the service is generally quite good particularly service to sun lounger, the food is good but the breakfast buffet is quite small for size of hotel, more live cooking stations would go far. The rooms are underwhelming for the price, turn down service is hit and miss.
Purobeach pool and beach clubs are good, the pool is over priced but the service is better. I do think when it’s not particularly busy they could space out groups at the pool it felt like people were unnecessarily close together when one whole side of it was empty.
The mandatory service charge applied to all bills is irritating when the atmosphere around the pool is chaotic with screaming children and ball throwing as the life guards aren’t always consistent.
Is it worth it? Yes when the hotel is consistent with service and keeping order at pool. They need to sort the sun lounger situation and improve the rooms however for us to consider staying again.
A very family friendly hotel with easy access whilst using a pram. The staff in the hotel catered to all needs!
The Tivoli Marina hotel is in a superb location by the marina and the beach. It is a very relaxing place to stay with a beautiful pool area and gardens plus access to the beach across a walkway. The rooms are well appointed and the restaurants all serve great food and drink. The hotel is definitely value for money.
DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! My Rolex was stolen off the bedside locker yesterday between 12-4pm. When I reported it the manager working "Ines" she told me she would contact lost & found and housekeeping. When I returned 3 hours later she had finished her shift and there was no manager on duty to update me. On hearing there was not even a manager on duty we felt so uneasy and then changed our flights and checked out of the hotel at 3am. I have called multiple times to speak to a manager but nobody in this hotel cares enough to call me back and I still have not received an update! Customer service is absolutely terrible in all areas of this hotel, extremely rude & young staff working here! This is at best a 3 star property. I now have found other reviews on here of people having handbags stolen and that was 4 years ago so clearly it is an ongoing thing the hotel overlooks. I should of done my homework first
Hotel spotless. Location perfect and staff very helpful. Received free upgrade to higher floor and view was brilliant. We opted for full sea view which we got but looking at the marina view, we think next visit we will book marina view. Pepper steakhouse was brilliant. A little pricy, but worth it and Oregano - the food was delicious. Also tried the spa and again top notch. We will be returning next year. Only slight thing was our pillows were very flat, so will op for a different type of pillow next time.
