The Views Oasis

On arrival we were welcomed quickly, only a 10mins journey from the airport which was great. Lollipops and children's gift bags on arrival for our kids. The lifts were next to reception so rooms were easily accessible. We emailed before and asked for a nice view we got a room on the 3rd level with a lovely side view of the sea. The rooms were nice and big enough for our family of 4. We had 2x double beds next to eachother, another sofa bed set-up and a cot so more than enough. The rooms had a kettle but no microwave. There was not really any English TV which is fine, it just would of been practical to have a kids channel in English but no problem. Breakfast at the hotel was really good, lots of choice. Cheese, meats, juices, pancakes, omelets, bacon, pastries etc. We also chose to purchase an offer to have 3x dinners in the buffet as it worked out well for our kids and more choice for kids with the usual food like nuggets and ice cream etc. We also ate at the pool bar most days as it was easy with the kids and again, they had a kids menu which was great. The kids playroom was near the restaurant which was ideal and we used it day in and day out. Our kids loved it. We also used the indoor swimming pool which my 5 year old loved as it was warm. We used both outdoor pools (kids & main) which were great but colder. Sunbeds were never an issue. We walked daily around the hotel area, we walked around the beach which was good for my 5 year old but not suitable for my 1 year old nevertheless we enjoyed the walks and there's some great pram/ stroller walks around the area. We popped for drinks and icecream at a near by bar. We also used the local shops and we got takeaway pizza from Bite House a nearby restaurant. We used the hotel bus into Funchal but got a Bolt back, whilt there we did the cable cars and botanical gardens, really enjoyed the cable cars the most . We downloaded the Bolt app before we went and we found it super easy to get around with our 2 kids as we did not want to drive / rent a car. With Bolt we visited the near by Christo Rei which had outstanding views and is only 10mins away, we did the short hike down and back up and the grabbed a coffee after at the little snackbar which had great views. We also got a Bolt taxi to Machico beach which was a beautiful sandy beach with a lovely shallow lagoon and was well worth a day out (around 20mins away) and we got a Bolt to the little fishing village town of Camara de Lobos 9about 25min away) which was very beautiful for a walk and coffee but i wish i had tied this in with a visit to Cabo Giro viewpoint. Overall a great family holiday with some adventure mixed in! Thanks Views Oasis.

Just returned from a week staying at the Views Oasis (Aug 2026) The setting is beautiful and the hotel was very clean and well kept throughout. It was nice to be able to explore the streets around the hotel which had a few smaller restaurants and bars. We could walk along the sea front and paddle in the sea (beach is rocks all round though) The rooms we had were very large and spacious with working air con which was much needed. You could arrange for housekeeping to attend rather than expect it every day although they did pop in and check you had enough toilet rolls etc. All of the staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. They all spoke good enough English to be able to understand what we needed. The hotel provided a free bus to Funchal every week day so we visited there a couple of days too. There is only 1 outdoor pool which is salt water. There is another indoor pool in the spa area which we could use too. No scrabble for sun beds in the morning which was brilliant although my only criticism would be that there were not enough parasols to go round. You collected the parasol top from a central point. As people headed down in the afternoon there was no way to get shade if you hadn’t grabbed one in the morning. Some were ripped as it was quite breezy on our first day so I can understand why, however hopefully more will be purchased so there are enough ‘tops’ to match the adequate number of parasol bases that were available. We were all inclusive and the food choices were fine for us. The pool bar did some nice lunches. Breakfast was the typical choice of cooked foods such as eggs, bacon, beans, hash browns etc, there were also pastries, fruit, cheeses and meats, cereals etc. There were themed nights for the evening meal- our favourite was most definitely the BBQ night. There wasn’t much in the way of evening entertainment as such. Often a solo or small group performer. There was a karaoke night which was calm with some good guest performances. Day time activities consisted of a short aqua aerobics session with pretty much the same songs played each day. There were some kids activities I think and an indoor children’s play area with a ball pit. The hotel experience I would say was more calm and restful than previous holidays we’ve taken but this was exactly what we wanted. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend choosing this hotel particularly if you have older children (ie teenagers) who would enjoy relaxing by the pool.
