Our 3rd amazing stay
Another wonderful stay, from the moment we arrived we were made to feel part of the Allegro family. Check in was once again so easy with the very efficient and friendly staff. Elsa made us feel at home,nothing is ever any trouble and with Rodrigo’s support we once again felt valued guests. Nelio and the rest of the staff in the restaurant work so very hard to make sure you want for nothing. And last but not least Isabella’s endless energy and beautiful smile brightened every day.
All in all, a lovely stay.
Just off the main road into the centre, about 30 mins walk, but 3 local buses (001,002, 004) will take you there cheaply, accepting cash, and bring you back up the hill! The hotel has what we both agree are the most comfortable beds and pillows we have found from travels around the world - amazing! Reception staff are very helpful, thanks to Sandra on our arrival, and just because there isn't a myriad of trip leaflets in sight, if you mention what you might be intrerested in, information and leaflets will appear, and the hotel can arrange for doorstep pickups for several trips. The rooftop bar, open from 5pm, is a great location for chilling and watching the sun go down after the last few tourist boats of the day pass by to the marina. Thanks here to the artist Arlindo, who just about remembered '708' by the end of our stay, and Sajjad, very friendly looking after us up there. Plenty of sunbeds by the pool down below, amazingly we only saw one couple put their towels (provided at no charge in your room on arrival) out before 9am, and they occupied them for most of the day, with there always being several to choose from. Drinks and very tasty and reasonably priced good quality hot snacks can be delivered to the pool area from the bar just indoors, where there is also a free water bottle refill station available all day. Drinks and food can be charged to your room on placement of card details at Reception. The only minor drawback related to the breakfast buffet, where the restocking of both tableware and food was a bit hit and miss, with possibly an insufficient number of staff being drawn by guests to plates, cutlery, glasses, orange juice, and the many dishes of hot food, needing to be refilled - maybe more guests than expected at the same time were adding to the inconsistency! We had a Junior Suite panoramic view, with the narrowish balcony providing a great view out to sea. Thank you

Friendly, well appointed and staffed hotel in a great location, not the prettiest looking.
Although the street appeal of this hotel (a grey tower block) is not the best, the staff are some of the friendliest and most efficient we have experienced. The hotel has a lovely pool area and a fantastic rooftop bar to enjoy a nightcap. Breakfast items were all fresh and tasty, with the stand-out for us being the omelets, freshly made to order, also make your own Bucks Fizz was a nice plus! The rooms have small balconies which are ok for sitting out on for short stints and our room was well appointed with a fantastic shower and very comfortable bed. The Aircon control and performance was also really good. The location of the hotel is excellent for restaurants and bars in the Lido area, and is 50yds from a main bus stop into Funchal (10 mins) or further along the coast in the other direction. The hop-on hop-off buses also have a main stop here.

Another great stay
We stayed here in 2024 and absolutely loved it, so we were really looking forward to returning — and this stay was just as memorable.
From the friendly and welcoming staff to the superb food, everything was fantastic. Our room was cleaned to an exceptionally high standard every day, and the attention to detail was excellent.
The poolside menu was extensive without being overly complicated, with plenty of choice. The Allegro Burger in particular is absolutely to die for!
Breakfast was always delicious, with a huge range of options including cooked breakfast, continental choices, fresh breads, fruit and more. They also have an egg station, where you can have fresh fried eggs and omelettes cooked to order, which was a lovely addition.
The hotel was refurbished shortly before our previous stay two years ago, and there are now a few areas beginning to show some signs of wear. Nothing major or anything that affected our stay, but it is noticeable in places.
The rooftop bar, however, was just as stunning as we remembered it. It remains one of our favourite parts of the hotel, with the views making it the perfect place to relax with a drink. On our final night they had a local dance group in. This was fantastic and great to watch.
Another fantastic stay, and we’d happily return again.
Great value for money
Enjoyed our vacation great property as a base for exploring Madeira, located perfectly with very friendly and helpful staff and a hearty breakfast.
