Once a grand family home, this charming 18th century property is located in the lush green hills surrounding Funchal, facing south over the surrounding landscape and out to the sea on the horizon. The hotel is situated at the heart of over 6.4 acres of botanical gardens, just in front of a magnificent partially covered swimming pool and its surrounding sun terrace.
The hotel combines modern comforts with excellent facilities, whilst the elegant and traditional surroundings evoke the glamour of old Madeira. Guests will enjoy both a refined and relaxed atmosphere in addition to easy access to Funchal town centre which is just 1.5km away.

Exceptional Stay in a Beautiful Botanical Garden Setting
We had an absolutely wonderful stay. The hotel is located within stunning botanical gardens, creating a peaceful and unique atmosphere. Surrounded by nature, it felt like an oasis of calm, and we especially loved meeting Colombo, the resident turtle who adds even more charm to the property.
The rooms were exceptionally spacious, quiet, cozy, and beautifully maintained. The bed was extremely comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep every night. Everything was spotless, and the level of cleanliness throughout the hotel was impeccable.
The value for money was excellent, especially considering the quality of the accommodations, facilities, dining, and personalized experiences offered.
What truly sets this hotel apart is the outstanding service. The staff went above and beyond, helping us with reservations and making every aspect of our stay effortless. Service in the restaurant was excellent, with a fantastic dinner menu and live music every second evening. The bar was also wonderful, offering a great atmosphere and attentive service.
Breakfast deserves a special mention. Guests can order from an extensive menu spanning two pages, with a wide variety of delicious and beautifully prepared dishes.
The hotel also organizes unique experiences that make the stay even more memorable. We joined a fascinating garden tour led by the botanist who manages the gardens and participated in a market tour with the hotel chef, traveling by tuk-tuk through the local market. The highlight was an extraordinary lunch prepared by the chefs in the hotel garden, perfectly paired with wines selected by the sommelier. It was a truly unforgettable culinary experience.
The amenities are excellent and include everything one could need: a beautiful pool, sauna, gym, restaurant, and other thoughtfully maintained facilities.
Overall, this was one of the most memorable hotel experiences we have had. The combination of the beautiful location, exceptional food, unique activities, comfortable accommodations, and genuinely superb service makes this hotel highly recommended. We would return without hesitation.
Great stay in a little gem.
Hotel situated in a good location, it has a very relaxed atmosphere and the hotel grounds are out of this world. The rooms are very clean and the bed are very comfortable. The bathroom had everything you could want and was spotlessly clean. Great views from the balcony and a very comfortable room. The location of the hotel makes the surrounding area very quiet, and the general noise level was very low. The staff were superb and were eager to ensure that our stay was as good as it could be. The food at the hotel was first class, and the cuisine served on the al la carte was exquisite. The whole experience was complete value for money. The town is very close by and the hotel also provide a free shuttle service. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel. I'm confident you will enjoy it and want to return.

Fantastic hotel!!
This hotel ticks all the boxes. It’s immaculately clean,the staff are absolutely lovely and the food is fresh and delicious. The gardens are amazing and very well kept. If you can,book the Botannical room as the view etc is outstounding . 10/10 Recommend doing the Island tour and tuk tuk am tour. We used Get your guide. Very efficient and pick you up from hotel. The Bolt app is handy but can be hit and miss
What a beautiful place to stay!
What a beautiful, intimate hotel set in stunning botanical gardens. Service to match with all staff so friendly and attentive but also themselves which makes it a warm, personal and inviting hotel to stay in. A real old school touch of 'luxe' experience from start to finish. Food wise...breakfast is superb where you choose from a choice heavy menu and can add extras. Dinner in the Beresford is also top class. The quality and presentation of the food is excellent with wines to match. We ate outside on the terrace each night which made the evening dinner experience even better. We also found the hotel location to be ideal, set back up the hill from Funchal centre so it was quiet but not too far for an evening stroll into town (25 mins all downhill). The hotel also runs a regular mini bus transfer to and from Funchal during the day so it was easy to plan days out in and from Funchal. All in all one of the best hotels we have stayed at in recent years and one of the list of 'definites' to return to. Thank you Quinta Jardins for a lovely holiday!

An amazing hotel
What an amazing hotel in the most stunning gardens. We had a Junior Suite with balcony in the Manor House overlooking the botanical gardens, with the most amazing view. The room was sumptuous and large with everything you could need. All the staff were excellent , very attentive and very friendly. The food in the restaurant and pool area was of a very high standard, especially the al a carte, and the local wines we chose were excellent. We were lucky to be able to dine outside most evenings, which had a lovely atmosphere, as well as having breakfast outside. The spa treatments we chose were probably the best we have ever had (signature treatment and hot stones). Nowhere in the hotel was ever noisy and the shuttle bus down to the promenade has a regular timetable which was very useful. This is an amazing hotel which is ideal for adults, perhaps not children, and we would be very happy to return anytime.
