Amazing hotel to stay
Amazing place to stay! The hotel itself is absolutely stunning, with breathtaking views of the sea. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming—they greet you with a smile every time they see you. We also had breakfast at the Avista Restaurant, and the service was amazing. The staff were so friendly and attentive, and the views were simply stunning. The hotel also offers a great selection of tours and tourist attractions to visit, and they are more than happy to help you arrange and book them if you ask. This made exploring Madeira so much easier and more enjoyable. I would definitely stay at this hotel again when I return to Madeira. Highly recommended!

First trip to Madeira
Great hotel would have been excellent if service was more efficient at times in some areas. Within walking distance for local bars and restaurants. Little bit further to walk into Funchal town centre but frequent buses stop right outside hotel and taxi's also at low cost from reception. Would highly recommend this hotel for anyone travelling to Madeira.

A superb luxury hotel in beautiful location
My wife and I spent ten nights at the Cliff Bay Hotel. It was our first visit and we were most impressed. It exceeded our expectations in almost all aspects. The staff are exceptional and went above and beyond to meet guests’ needs. They are efficient, knowledgable and friendly. The hotel is imaginatively designed so that most rooms have an unspoilt view of Bay, sea or gardens without having to look at the surrounding concrete jungle. The latter was a bit of a shock to me, having last visited the island in the mid-1970s. The bedroom and bathroom were well equipped and very comfortable with a stunning view. Breakfast in Il Gallo D’Oro restaurant was delicious with an excellent choice and we enjoyed eating on the terrace. We enjoyed one breakfast at Avista with another fabulous view. One slight negative, we were disappointed with dinner at the Rose Garden Restaurant because the food seemed overpriced for the average type and quality of menu and it was a pity that there were no cheap snacks available at the Blue Lagoon at lunchtime. Unfortunately Avista was fully booked for lunch and dinner so we ate very few meals in the hotel. Swimming was excellent in the sea water pool and easy access to the sea was a welcome bonus. We appreciated the activities programme but only seemed to fit in one enjoyable Levada walk. We rented a car for four days to explore the island which was a good way to explore. We found the driving easy enough but quite tiring on the winding and hilly roads. Parking could be a problem in some places. Overall this was a superb stay and definitely the best hotel we have stayed in. We would strongly recommend it and hope to return soon.
