This hotel is the best in benidorm! I have lived in other hotel benidorm but nothing beats it. Breakfast and dinner was amazingly good. Definitley recommend it.
My partner and I booked the port Benidorm hotel for one weeks stay, from the 7th of July until the 14th of July. Because our flight was an early morning flight, apart from the one hour delay before take off, due to TUi losing the time slot, and we had booked private transfer(Costa blanca transfers) which we’ve used before, and are a very good transfer company. We arrived at our hotel pretty early, and were told that our room was not ready yet. We checked in, and were told that we could leave our suitcases in a room behind the reception, and go for some lunch. My partner asked when they thought the room would be ready for, and they said about 3.30pm, once we had lunch, which we thought was nice, and had a very good selection of food, there was always something, even for the fussiest eaters, which I am pretty fussy when it comes to food. The dining area was very clean, as well as the reception area, always smelled fresh. The staff are all very nice and polite, and were always quick to take any finished lates away. The only problem in the dining area, that we thought, because we are over a certain age, was the signage above where the food was, very difficult to actually see what things were ( not clear for even the sharpest of eyes) they should really have the writing a bit bigger, with a black background and clear white writing, or vice versa. My partner said that she wasn’t willing to hang around and wait until 3.30pm, so she went to the reception and spoke to a different person to see if our room was ready, and was told it was. We got our cases, and headed up to the 14th floor, we booked this hotel before the new part had been finished, we were given room 1410, which had a sea view, on entering the room, you could feel the coolness of the air conditioning, along with a ceiling fan, which kept the room nice and cool, as well, we’re talking about 30-34 degrees heat outside, so it was great to have the room feeling cool. The room had plenty of hanging space in the wardrobe, with three drawers, as well as a couple of other shelves. My partner had tried before we arrived, to E-mail the hotel, to make sure we got a high floor, and had asked for a double bed, but got no reply whatsoever, even after trying to send another E-mail to them. But because we had booked a sea view room, we had thought that most sea view rooms were high up anyway, but we only had two single beds pushed together. We also had a safe with a combination lock, and a small fridge below, which we took the shelves off, to fit our water and cloak in. We had a large flat screen tv on the wall, and there was a pull out sofa/bed. The balcony was a good size with spectacular views of the sea, and part of the beach front. The room was cleaned to a reasonable standard, and always smelled fresh. The whole hotel had a total refurbishment, while the new block was being built. The breakfast was good, with lots of bread, continental rolls, fruits, yogurt and fried food, from bacon, eggs, sausage, cold meats and cheeses. There was something for everyone, as well as fresh orange juice, tea and a machine for coffee, cappuccino, and hot water, and also a couple of toasters around the dining area. Lunch had a good selection of foods as well. I personally never ate salads ever, on any of our holidays, but thought I’d try them at this hotel, and I wasn’t disappointed, I ended up eating salads most days, and thoroughly enjoyed them. There was a good choice of food for lunch as well as dinner, so again, even like me being a fussy eater, always found something to eat. The only thing that I did notice, was that the staff didn’t always come over to the table to ask if you’d like anything to drink, but instead, on most occasions, me or my partner had to end up going up to the bar ourselves, which was located right up the back of the dining area, next to the cooking station. We booked this hotel on an all inclusive deal, but felt that we didn’t really get our money’s worth, as well are both in our 60’s, we don’t really eat as much or drink as much as we might have done, when we were younger, we always like going walks, when we are on holiday, so we ate out a couple of times, and had some drinks in the local bars, when we were out walking around Benidorm. So when we decide to go back to Benidorm, we would definitely consider staying at the port Benidorm hotel again, as it is situated in a great location, and there’s no hills to walk up, we would probably go bed and breakfast or half board the next time. All in all, we would definitely recommend this hotel, nor it’s cleanliness and the pleasantness of all the staff, from the reception staff to the cleaners and all the dining staff. Had a fantastic holiday, and fantastic stay at this hotel, and would definitely return. We came to the roof top terrace two years ago, just to see the views from up on the 19th floor, and the views were amazing. Back then, we were staying up at the club rooms in the flamingo oasis hotel, and we didn’t have to book the rooftop terrace back then, we just walked in. But now if you are a guest at the hotel, you can just go up for drinks/cocktails, but if you wanted to go up to eat, you’ve got to book, even if you are a guest staying at the hotel. There were a lot of people from outside the hotel that booked, as I said, if you are not a guest, and are staying elsewhere, you have to book in advance, as the rooftop terrace can be really busy. They have good selection of cocktails from around the world, and a few beers most in bottles. Even if you are a guest in the hotel, you still have to pay the full price. ( no discounts) The pool area at this hotel can also be pretty busy. There are two pool bars. The main one, has a snack bar, which some foods that you can help yourself to, and you can also order other hot food. The only beer for all inclusive guests, is estrella damm, which I find a bit strong. The other bar, has a variety of other beers, ciders spirits and cocktails available, which you have to pay for. There are two main pools at this hotel, one is the busy larger pool, with a small part at the rear for children, and the other smaller pool is next to the bar that you pay for the drinks. Pools are nice, and are not cold, even the showers that are located around the pool area are not cold. Plenty of sun loungers. 10 out of 10 for this hotel.
Ray Gs reviews hits the nail on the head. The lifts for a refurbed place are a joke. 1 of the 4 lifts wouldn't take more than 300kg in weight.
We were floor 5 and feel for anyone higher than this. You can't get same level as restaurant without lifts, so disabled peeps I feel for you here. You will spend a day of your holiday waiting for lifts.
The smell is bad but as at Friday 10th they seem to be trying to fix it. Then led to the sports bar (Studio 4) being unusable for us due to mosguitos eating us alive. 10 mins in to England match we left after killing 6 mosquitos in quick run.
For a new hotel there are a number of things that just have not been thought of.
Pool gets sun most of the day plenty of beds not enough parasols. Fully lost sun around 6pm for us due to building but red hot otherwise.
The rooms have glass walled bathrooms which in it self is not a problem as you have to look around frosting and gaps to see anything, but get used to waking everyone up in your room when going for a pee at night or do it in the dark.
Air con in room was great.
All inclusive times at food are carnage, but this is the same in most All inclusive as people lose the ability to be polite, and at the bars you have a 2 drink limit (sometimes) so for a family of 4 this is not great. If the hotel read this I would say make sure your staff are consistent. We were told that black currant cordial is not included in all inclusive when we had been having it for 7 days prior to this.
Entertainment team try but speak mainly Spanish so if you rely on entertainment for your kids go somewhere else. We were told that this is mainly a british hotel, but was a big mix of people here, not to say that the Entertainment team were bad (our children are teenagers so not interested) but some were hard to understand.
And you will hear Cheri, Cheri Lady and Louie louie about 100 times on your holiday if the music is like a 1920s jazz bar its these songs on loop (although our last day 13th July) we didnt hear them once. The evening shows were quite good to be fair.
In summary would I return no, based on the glass walls (put some black out blinds on it and I will)
LOVELY HOTEL AND EXPERIENCE. We booked this as a last minute getaway for a week away.Great location to beach. We were on floor 15 with a sea view which was amazing.Food was hit and miss and had to use the microwave to warm up food everyday. All inclusive drinks were good, couldnt believe it was real baileys and not the cheap cream liquer you get in other hotels which was a bonus for me.Yes the strong sewerage smell in the lobby is really bad and offputting.I did try several times to get up to the rooftop bar but stood waiting ages for lifts i gave up.The hotel is immaculately clean.Spoke to people who said the rooms in the new block were lovely. One tip if you prefer an adult only hotel this isnt for you there are a lot of children in this hotel they have a kids entertainment team which we didnt know. There were a lot of spanish famalies.Be careful around pool area we saw people daily slipping around the pool.very dangerous.I know it happens everywhere but my husband was nearly mugged of his necklace walking back to hotel no it wasnt of a night it was lunchtime so be very careful when out this happened not far from hotel.
The smell overrid all the good points of this hotel. As soon as you enter reception it smelt like a sewer. By the small pool was unbearable with the smell. It drifted through the showers and last night it engulfed our entire floor 7. They have a huge problem as admitted by reception staff. Rooms lovely. Food - the other half of the dining room needs opening now! I don’t want to have to fight for a table or food. The flow of the dining room is all wrong. You can’t get between the seats and the distance from a table to the bar … ridiculous Sports bar has no credibility as timing was different in each tv for big football matches. When the hotel is full I can’t imagine how bad it will be
