I have stayed here previously on numerous occasions I always book The Level for the comfort of the Level lounge on my last visit we noticed that it is now open to families with very young children and they have completely taken over the Lounge, instead of a cool, calm ambience it has become a children's playground, the floor was dirty with spilt food and drinks, the seats were wet through and at certain times of day there was not enough seats to sit on, needless to day I won't be returning
This was our first stay at this Melia Level. The hotel itself is in a lovely position with all you'd expect from a village style resort - plenty of sunbeds, parasols, pools, etc. That said there a few things that could be improved.
It's always good to have a dedicated Level check in but this experience was not the best. On request from the hotel we had advised what time we would arrive and checked in around 1 pm. With check in time as 4 pm we knew the room may not be available at 1 pm so agreed with the desk that they would call us when the room was ready. When we didn't hear anything, we asked again at 3.30 pm and were then told that rooms are not available until 4 pm and to come back then when it would be available. Did this mean that all the rooms suddenly become ready at 4 pm?? At 4 pm the room was still not available.
For the size of the area dedicated to Level guests, the lounge itself is very small and feels more like a cafeteria than a lounge, often noisy because of the lack of soft finishes. The narrow outside terrace is very popular but again too small for the number of guests. There is an area adjacent to the terrace [one of the two terraces of a restaurant not currently operating as a restaurant but given over to the Melia Circle salespeople??) which could easily used as an additional seating area to the Lounge. Not sure why the restaurant is not open as it occupies a prime position within the Level area and would enhance the hotel's a la carte offer.
That said, our room was spacious and beautifully maintained by the housekeeping team and the meals we opted for in the a la carte restaurants were good. Pizzas in the Italian are huge! Free outdoor parking is also a plus.
Our first stay ay the Level at Melia Villataina was (apart from a terrible check-in experience) a really enjoyable holiday. The hotel is designed like a small town of historic-style buildings in a beautiful landscape of gardens and pools. The hotel is divided into two parts with one specifically for Level guests including access to many lagoon style pools, restaurants, and the exclusive level lounge with drinks and snacks from 11am to 8pm (although at times this does get very busy and noisy and outside tables are limited). There is also access to a range of restaurants although these require payment of a supplement for those on half-board basis. Half board for Level guests gives access to an included buffet breakfast which is extensive and with high quality food and indoor and poolside seating. It also allows you to eat in the same place for a buffet evening meal, however, we ony did this for the first noight as it is a little like a cafeteria environment in an evening so we chose to pay extra to use the other al-la carte restaurants in the complex or got a taxi into Benidorm (we would only choose B&B next time). The grounds a beuatifully kept and the pools provide variety for everyone and safe access in many locations. The whole level area doesn't feel overcrowded as the sunbeds are well spaced out providing privacy.
First time I have been to this region of Spain. The hotel and staff were excellent. Esther and the team looked after all guests in the party during the past week. Rooms were spacious and well maintained. All the family and friends really enjoyed their stay and we would definitely return. The pools, sports facilities, gym and restaurants were excellent. Breakfast great also.
We have just returned from 2 weeks at The Level Melia Villaitana. Our stay was most enjoyable, our room was spacious and comfortable, loved the heated pool and the staff were all attentive and professional. The staff in the Level lounge were great, but the one staff member who went above and beyond was Ancuta, she was outstanding. We took half board, but we found the buffet not to our taste as cooked items were luke warm. We used the other restaurants and were very satisfied with them. We enjoyed the golf course and club, staff were excellent and very accommodating. Would definitely return, but on a B&B basis
