Sunset Beach Club

We booked this holiday and hotel thinking school holidays are over and the hotel would be free of school aged kids.......boy were we wrong!!!! The hotel was packed with mostly Irish kids who for some reason had not returned to school, running riot in the corridors, screaming shouting, slamming doors, taking over the pool area, we visited pool for less than 3 hours and left on 1 day and did not return due to the noise, not being able to relax and being crammed in like sardines with the sun loungers, which were in a bad condition, around the pool. The pool area needs cleaning up with the floors especially being slippery, it looks like the floors have had grey paint over the original green paint which is flaking off and also making it slippery even at the front of the hotel. The hotel is nice entering on the 6th floor, we had a room allocated on the 8th floor. We were self catering and the room had a small kitchen area where we made breakfast everyday and spent the rest of the day eating out. The bathroom is very cosy, twin beds and a sofa bed which was disgusting and in a terrible state, I certainly would not sleep on it, very dirty and tired. Check in was very slow, they need more staff. Other negative issues with this hotel were

1. The other guests were very noisy at the smoking areas outside the main entrance which we could hear from our 8th floor mountain view room, this carried on until at least 2 am every night.
2. Being on holiday we thought we would have a lie-in past 9am but no chance due to the cleaning staff banging trollies and talking so loudly.
3. When we got the 8th floor room no one mentioned that there would be 4 weddings taking place on the 7th floor with very loud guests in the corridors and the before mentioned noise till late by the smoking area.
4. Location of the hotel is about 30-40 minutes from the Marina but there are some restaurants within 10 minutes.
5. Not enough lifts, always rammed and forever waiting, we did venture to the lifts at the far side of the hotel which were better but an inconvenience

Positives

1. Bus Stop and taxis available outside hotel.
2. Staff cleaned hotel regularly, yet noisily.

This hotel is classed as a 4 star but I would rate it as a 3. Would I recommend this hotel? Not for me, too big, not enough loungers around the pool, no discipline.

Definitely not 4 star,the wheelchair access is dangerous and horrific to get up, the lifts are to small for wheelchairs.the shower leaked, the cooker didn't work,crowds of young people hanging about the entrance, litter everywhere.
